Re: Fall midget madness 09/22
So is there still a SP4 RR tire rule and a 15 pound air RR tire rule for all national midgets that show up on Sunday's race. Also is it the regular $300 to win and $60 to start with less than 20 cars ?

Re: Fall midget madness 09/22
I don't think that an SP4 and 16 lbs of air is enough to equalize the advantage that a national midget engine with an extra 200 horsepower would have over a thousand cc minisprint. Maybe 20 lbs of air would make things more equal.

Re: Fall midget madness 09/22
Right rear tire rule only for national midgets. This is a year ending special that the speedway is putting on for the fans and to bring some new cars in. There are several midgets in the qc area that would like to participate and help out on a good show. Sorry if you don't like the rules for this race, that's just the way it is going to be for the night. We already have 17 cars committed for this race. So you can either join in and have a good time or continue to try and convince cars to stay home. Either way we are racing and everyone is welcome to join in!

The good thing about this race mr baugh is, if you don't like the rules you can leave your car and attitude at home

Re: Fall midget madness 09/22
No the 6B will be there going for 6 in a row at the qc speedway. It may take a full midget to stop that 1000cc bone stock motor!!

Good deal cause I've enjoyed watching Andy race

Re: Fall midget madness 09/22
Cheap shot Johnny.

Re: Fall midget madness 09/22
Last week Tracy Hull told me there would be a rule stipulating 15 lbs of air in the right rear of any national midget. He said he would check the tire pressure after the race. I wonder how many more rules will change by the time the race starts.

Mr baugh I ment no disrepect. Like I said I enjoy watching Andy race

Re: Fall midget madness 09/22
The psi rule was changed to gain more cars. I was told several cars were not going to attend because of the national midgets being allowed to run which included your car Gary. We just want a good car count for the promoter and the speedway. We have ran by Montpelier rules all year so this is nothing different. We can either race or not. It's as simple as that. Nobody wants anyone to leave their car home. We have a great time racing with everyone. It's a one night deal with good payout. We hope everyone comes and has a good time

Re: Fall midget madness 09/22
I can't do the "lower rate", but if anyone wanted to rent a National motor car, my Gaerte Stealth would be avail for $750. I'd run it myself if I could find $499 in sponsorship (6mpg tow rig)!

Re: Fall midget madness 09/22
Montpelier motor speedway rules for this race! The only difference is we require an sp3 equivelent or harder tire for the national midgets. 2013 Montpelier Motor Speedway Midget Rules. Here are the rules.
2013 Rules Midgets Appearance All cars shall appear and fit the guidelines of a “traditional” midget Weight Minimum Weight - 1,050 Pounds (Including Driver) - Cars powered by Fontana, Esslinger, Stanton, Gaerte, and other purpose built engines are legal and will fall under this guideline. Midgets Powered By Spec Engines, Ford Focus, Volkswagen, Entirely Stock Production Block and Head, Chevy II, etc... - No Minimum Weight Tires Sp3 or equivelent compound or harder right rear tire A maximum 10" width right rear rim may be used. A maximum 12" width tire may be mounted to the 10" rim. ü Use of only 1 right rear for entire race event (heat race and all features) unless approved by race official to be flat or a potential safety hazard. If a replacement is required, the replacement tire must be the same compound and brand as the tire being approved for removal. All tires will be marked following hot laps. Mini Sprints Appearance All cars shall appear as a “traditional” midget Engine/Drive Train All 1000CC and greater Upright Mini Sprints (Non Wing) are eligible to compete in the midget class. Cars falling under Mini Sprint rules will be motorcycle engine powered and may be chain driven or utilize a traditional driveline and quick-change rear end. All cars under caution and restarts shall maintain an idle speed as great as the full production midget. Cars that fail to do this will be sent to the tail. Weight No Minimum Weight Tires Open Tire Brand/Compound ALL 4 corners with a maximum 12" width right rear wheel rim. That pretty much sums it up. 1 night of racing to help close out the 2013 season. Come on out, have some fun, and help out a great track by supporting this show! |
Any chance on having sp3 at track to buy

Re: Fall midget madness 09/22
Maybe. But it will probably be a used one. We have someone bringing a few with them just in case someone needs one.

Re: Fall midget madness 09/22
The weight rule is total BS. 1050lbs. with the driver is only attainable with a ton of expensive light weight parts like the USAC cars have, which have the same weight rule. How on earth is a stock block car suppose to get lighter than that??? An SP3 with 15lbs. isn't enough to eqaul anything out on a full size 1/4 mile track especially if it's tacky. There really aren't any "open" midgets left in the QC area besides Robby Ray so I think sticking with the Motorcycle and sportsman engines is the way to go. By the way, I've really enjoyed watching Baugh in the 6b. That car handles like a dream and it may just take an open motor to beat that guy here. We are looking forward to Sunday and to next year!

Re: Fall midget madness 09/22
I would have preferred my name was kept out of this. One thing is for sure, promoters and possible new car owners to your series will see all this bickering and arguing and shy away from the series. If you want to see open wheel racing succeed in and around the Quad Cities keep this stuff off the internet. You are only hurting your cause.
From what I read here the rules were set for 2013. Look towards 2014 rule changes and grow your series. There is real value in a series with production engines and chain drive MiniSprints. From what I hear thats where the rules are headed for 2014. I would have never thought that a promoter in the Quad Cities would give our type of racing a chance especially with how dominant stock cars are here. So, please don't ruin the opportunity to bring some form of sustained open wheel racing to the area by bickering about rules that were in place all year long. I look forward to seeing this become a healthy and successful series in the years to come! |
