Still don't understand, just like last year.. It's a "special event" and has a $30 entry fee, yet it pays less then a standard Sunday night show if you run 4th to 9th..

Yeah I got upside down in this event last year and struggled to put car together enough to just make one lap and get tow money. Was paid $50 at the pay window. I wont be back

You were paid exactly what was advertised long before you showed up for the race and are mad about that? What did you expect? Extra pay for a "good effort?"

Actually I didnt look at what was advertised and just made a last minute decision to attend. I guess its my own fault for assuming that any big show charging a entry fee would at least pay $100 tow money. I just assume when a track makes as much a what Kokomo did at the Klash that they at least pay ALL drivers fair money

Could you please show me where the tow money is posted on this flyer?

Spi-nex 9/15/13 6:22 PM

Re: Kokomo Klash VII info posted: Fri. & Sat., Oct 18 & 19

That's just it... they didn't advertise "tow money." There go getting anything is just a bonus. If it wasn't advertised then rightfully they didn't HAVE to pay anything. Look at the weekly payout there, no tow money is advertised there either.

Why not ask the promoters directly or just not go if you don't want to pay a entry fee??

Looking forward to the klash and grateful I get to go and watch some awesome racing one last time before winter! :6: :9:

So I guess I wasnt really paid what was advertised? First you say I was paid exactly what was advertised, then you say nothing was advertised. Which one do you want to stick with? No matter how you want to present it,the facts remain the same, you wont find one driver or owner out there that would be happy making $50 tow for a big show that charges $30 entry fee. There is no reason that every non qualifying car shouldnt get $100. Seems thats what every other big show does and still no entry fee. Add that with what Mr Shuman pointed out kinda seems crazy to come to the Klash at all unless you are one of the top ten drivers. Just my opinion.

Look in your wallet before you go to any race... If you got enough cash to get there and get back home, then tow money doesn't matter. It is what it is... one of the largest gathering of cars and racers on any weekend anywhere in the midwest. Enjoy it for what it is or for the $50 you thought you lost out on. Remember, the less you give a f***, the happier you'll be!

I'll change my opinion for a 3rd time. Just be happy that you got $50 more than what wasn't advertised!

Bill Gardner 9/15/13 11:49 PM

[Sarcasm] I think it's a great idea to pay a "performer" even when they don't perform well.

Paying tow money to guys who perform poorly during local Indiana racing is stupid.

Yeah I know... Being a car owner or driver can be tough on the wallet. My advice would be don't suck, drive faster. ;)

Yeah it sure does suck to suck. Ill just keep my opinions to my self. Bottom line is sprint car racing is great.

I have an idea why don't all of us teams that suck stay home so you can watch the handful of good drivers then next year the rest of the teams that suck can stay home too.

I say build more wallmarts and close all the race tracks. J.M.O.

Bill Gardner 9/16/13 1:13 PM

How will you know if you suck if don't race? ;)

I think I read it on the internet one time, it has to be true. anyway what would all the drunks do if there were no race tracks to attend? Thats the real worry I guess I would just stay home and drink warm beer, problem solved.

One key difference between racers and most other performers is that most performers don't have to pay to put on the show. It would be like a musician that has to buy a ticket to get into their own concert. If there was no pit pass or entry fee for the driver, then no "tow money" would be necessary. Tow money is basically just a term for the minimum amount given to teams that contributed to the racing program.

Even the teams that "don't suck" have bad luck or bad nights. Somebody runs into you in a heat and dumps you, you can't repair your car to run the B main or feature race, so the promotor doesn't give you tow money. Did you suck? No, just a rough night.

Saturday night of the Klash is one of my favorite shows every year. Annually freeze my ass off, but its worth it.

People like you ran people like Don off, how much have you spent this year to put a car on the track??? Don, Hoosier Race Fan and a ton of others have the same right to there opinion as you do and yes you can have your opinion.

People wonder why drivers and owners do not post, well being shot down for there opinion is one of the reasons they stay away.

Don Moore puts his money into a car and has what I believe to be some answers to some of the problems that face racing today, he gets on here and is called all kind of things and on one post was told he should take his midget and just go home if he does not like the way things are.

Ok while I am pi@#ing people off I think the people that baited duke Cook should have been banned as well, most of the people that made fun of Duke or said things knowing Duke was old school and would not run and hide with his tail between his legs like most of the keyboard jockeys teasing him would. And it is my opinion the same keyboard jockeys that got him going could not carry his jock let alone his helmet bag.

How about the guy from the west coast sure some of his post where off the wall but that did not give anyone the right to treat him the way some of you did.

You put your last dime in something go out and try to put on a show and not get at least your pit pass back then come on here and talk about how happy you are.

Go ahead and tell me if I don't like it to take our car and stay home because we and a bunch of other race teams are real close to doing just that.

I respect all of your opinions but the people putting on the show should at least be shown some respect, and yes I respect Don Moore.

Bad day your right, do I feel better, not at all

I have always wondered about this guys like darland, stanbrough, cottle, just to name a few of hired drivers, if they owned their own equipment if they would run local shows for 1200-1500 to win races and not complain like the rest of us about start money or tow money, know somewhere along the way they have owned their own stuff, not trying to pizz amyone off just asking, you don't see tracy hines running to many weekly shows if any so with out field fillers don't think they would be many cars at your favorite track maybe they would all be special events.:44:

If you can get the Indiana Sprint Car drivers to unite as one... Heck, we can call them the Indiana Sprint Car Drivers Association. I would applaud and say job well done.;)

Not Drivers but it is pretty obvious that the Silver Crown OWNERS have united for years now. How's that working out?

You really think my point was field filler cars suck? The whole point of being a part of a competition is to be the best. As long as you are racing to be the best... YOU DON'T SUCK!

I'm also not against tow money. I've spent a few hours in my life trying to get racers more money.

I'm sorry I was a smartazz.

griffithracing 9/17/13 8:47 PM

Not to beat a dead horse here, but is there tow money this year for Kokomo Klash? I've always wanted to run there but with my suck a$$ 360..( For Bill) I know I'll be looking for tow money to maybe pay my pit pass.. Anyone know?

All payouts and pre-entry are on www.kokomospeedway.net

griffithracing 9/17/13 9:11 PM

I apologize if I am incorrect or haven't seen tow money. I am assuming if you don't make the show you get 0$? I see nothing other than the 1-20 payout.
Again I'm sorry if I'm missing it.

I for one am glad Duke Cook is nothing more than a memory on this site, the moment he posted on here that my 6 year old "was probably not mine" I could care less about what he did or who he was...noting more than scum to me.

But the rest of your post...spot on.

Is there a media contact for the Klash? I sent an email to the person listed on the Kokomo Speedway site but I didn't hear anything back. Was interested possibly shooting one or both days.
