Great show!!
Was just thinking, 29 cars, with all that was going on this weekend was nice to see.....Wonder how many cars they would get if they ran a unsanctioned race for like $10,000 to win and a $1,000 to start. Maybe even a 3 day show? |
Re: Kokomo 9/1
Congratulations to Justin Grant and J.W. with the win at Kokomo and to Wesmac for the 2013 Championship. Todd Keen followed up G.C. with another good run and A. Cruea was also impressive with his run. Lots of good racing throughout the field and as always thanks to Reese and Rowdy for another good prepared track.

Unfortunately, it seems that a bigger purse does not translate into that many more cars. Many track regulars figure some high budget teams will show up, reducing their chance to win or even make the show, so they stay home. Moving the smackdown a week later and running Friday, Saturday, and Sunday might be something to consider. I don't own or rent racetracks though, so I'm sure it is fine and can't be improved as it is. |
Re: Kokomo 9/1
I attended the Smackdown and I thought it was pretty sucessful. I agree more money rarely means more cars. Paragon is a perfect example. The post I was refering to was by a former disgruntled employee of USAC, who was with them when they changed the pavement Silver Crown cars, and now has an ax to grind. Non sanctioned might work in March, but the weather is iffy. The crowds were good, the on track product great, and once again someone who was not there is finding fault. All I am saying is, if you really believe in your idea, and think it is a money maker, why wouldn't a person do it. I can tell you why, because he knows it wouldn't work.
