Don is correct unless you pay the extra $10 to park on the back stretch. Then you can bring in a cooler full of tall boys and fire up a grill. No glass.

Re: L burg info please
No carry in alcohol in the main grandstands. Food and other drinks OK, they do check coolers

(at least this was the case at the UMP LM race). The sign is there non the less:confused: Of course there are creative ways to get your beer in. :wink and it helps to sneak in the same brand of beer sold at the track. |
Re: L burg info please
That is correct Kieth. There is no carry in alcohol on the backstretch anymore. Under the turn 2 bleachers is 2 pop-ups and beer and food are sold there. Also for any drivers or people in the pits, food and soft drinks are now sold by the tech building.

Copied from FAQ on the www.lawrenceburgspeedway.com web site...
Q. Do you allow alcohol to be brought into the speedway? A. By the Indiana State law, you cannot bring in alcohol. |
Re: L burg info please
Since the new facilty has been built with more grandstands in turn 2, The State of Indiana won't allow beer to be brought into the speedway at all. Coolers will be checked by the police. We feel our beer prices are fair and our beer is ice cold. The law is the law, whether we all like them or not. We do allow 14" coolers to be brought in, so you can pack some Coke and bring in food if you like. Thanks for your understanding in this matter.

At least they don't have more people in the parking lot than in the stands durring the races like some track, not aruba, jamaica either.

If your getting away with it at THAT or another track. Its simply because they aren't enforcing it. Like I said. Kokomo and Gas City your not even allowed a cooler unless its for Diabetic supplies. The law basically is to protect buisness. Bascially your can't bring your own beer to a bar or restaraunt |

Re: L burg info please
I guess I have missed something here, seems to me that all of us go to the tracks to watch racing, not to get wrapped up in whether or not beer can be carried in or not or whether the track sells it or not:headbang
Enough from me on this, need to get the yard mowed, get packed up and enjoy the first five nights of :shoutINDIANA SPRINT WEEK:checkered: |
Re: L burg info please
The beer prices, assortment and service are so good at the 'Burg, that it just isn't worth the hassle to drag/sneak it in. Enloy ISW, grab a beer if you wish, heck grab one for me!:hoffman:

Re: L burg info please
Isnt that what Street Stocks, Mods, mini sprints, etc are for. Going to the parking lot to pound a beer or two until you hear the sprint cars pushed off?

Here is what little bit I found in Indiana. Not that it is an issue, I just prefer Miller products. I have had 1 beer at the Burg this year, I plan on changing that number this week, don't run out of buckets.:D |
Re: L burg info please
So basically it says you could take it into ORP *Paved* but not a dirt track selling alchohol.
Sorry, I just don't respect the conspirasist saying only when the new promotor took over. It's been in effect for at least 6 years. Chuck, saying someone got a loophole (Probably Tony George and the others are piggybacking on that) |
Re: L burg info please
Chuck I don't think its a loophole, it probably is just track rules. The tracks that do not allow alcohol to be brought in sell beer at a reasonable price(except Kentucky Speedway). The revenue from these sales help pay for the purse and operating cost of the track, I don't have a problem with that. I would like to be able to drink a miller lite in the stands at the burg though. I have had allergic reactions to certain alcoholic beverages in the past, it makes my butthole swell up and take over my whole body.:D

Re: L burg info please
I'll be hitting L'Burg for the first time tomorrow and Thurs. Are there any showers close to the track? Any good liquor stores around where I can grab some good beer as well?:D

Re: L burg info please
I believe that law has been around in some form before, or at least since, I had the track. I've never known it to be enforced (by the State) at any track. When Greg Staab had the track, the beer distributor tried to convince Greg to enact that policy but, Greg decided against doing it. I can see both sides of it. The promotor has to generate revenue but, sometimes giving a little to make a place more fan friendly will actually pay more dividends in the long run.

Re: L burg info please
very well put cecil. i couldn't agree more...for once.lol
|
Re: L burg info please
Cecil, you nailed it. Most tracks would let you until excise stepped in. I know when I worked at Kokomo we were on a night to night permit. Excise are real sticklers and I know for a fact they were who stepped up and stopped carry in at Gas City. The tracks that let you carry in are the ones who don't sell beer. I do know one thing being on here talking about tracks that violate the rule is probably a good way to bring them unwanted attention from excise.

Re: L burg info please
The same thing happened at Eldora. That's just the way it is...
