I read on Facebook that at Montpelier tonight a ump modified driver Greg Pitts had a horrific crash.. so please pray for him and his family through this horrible time..this year just seems to get worse and worse

Greg was involved in a single car accident due to medical conditions while competing on the track.

He was transported to a local hospital. Any other health updates at this time are rumors. We will pass along factual info when we receive it.

With the passing of Lori's father, and Greg's accident, it has been a VERY difficult week for Harold and Lori. We ask that race fans pray for Greg, his family, friends, and the Montpelier staff.

It is with deep sadness and sorrow the Montpelier Motor Speedway has to announce the unfortunate passing of veteran UMP Modified driver, Greg Pitts. Greg suffered health complications during competition on Saturday night at the Montpelier Motor Speedway.

Greg was a loyal supporter of the Montpelier Motor Speedway and central Indiana racing, a working man’s racer, and one of the most beloved friends and racers in the pits. No one had more fun racing than Greg, and whether it was a good or bad night, no one could keep racing and the fun it is supposed to provide in perspective like Greg.

On behalf of the owners, every employee, and volunteer at the Montpelier Motor Speedway, our prayers and most sincere heartfelt sympathies go to Greg Pitt’s family, friends, and all his many fans.
