Dirt Midget Week Part Of Busy Month For Ignite Midgets
The Honda USAC Ignite Midgets have hit a busy time of the schedule as they will be racing 9 nights over the next 31 days!
Both the Dirt and Pavement series will see plenty of action as the season heads towards the late Summer. Starting this weekend, the Pavement series joins the National Pavement Midgets at both Illiana and Grundy County Friday August 9th & 10th. Then Back to the dirt for 3 big nights of action for Dirt Midget Week will be presented by Indy Race Parts, and will feature a $1,000 point fund if all 3 nights are completed without the "r' word. Should one night not get in, there will still be a $750 point fund for the competitors to chase. Current point leader Toby Alfrey will be fighting to keep his 22 point lead over future star, Gage Walker. Stratton Briggs, Katlyn Leer, Cooper Clouse, Austin Nemire, and Johnny Heydenreich as they try their best to close the point gap! These races will also be co-sanctioned with the KMML and should attract experienced competiton from Kurt Mayhew, Patrick Bruns, SET Racing, and the return of "Nuclear" Nick Corea!! The excitment begins Friday August 16th at Gas City Speedway, followed the next night at Putnamville Speedway, and wrapping up Sunday night the 18th at Vermilion County Raceway in Danville, IL! A good field of cars are expected, so come out see the future as they learn their skills against some seasoned vetrans during the Honda USAC Ignite Midget Series Dirt Week presented by Indy Race Parts Then the guys and gals will be back on Pavement, and out east as the series visits for the first time, Motordrome Speedway in Smithton, PA on Friday August 23rd, followed the next night in North East's, PA Lake Erie Speedway. After a nice well earned weekend off for Labor Day, the series hits the dirt again in Illinois as USAC makes returns to both Kankakee, and Macon! Friday September 6th, USAC Midgets will return to Kankakee County Speedway for the first time since 1973! Followed the next night at the ultra racy Macon Speedway in Macon, IL! These 2 races will also be co-sanctioned with the KMML! We invite you to join us at any of our races, and see the future! As anyone who has been at our races this year, you will not be dissapointed in the racing action these guys and gals provide!!! |

Re: Dirt Midget Week Part Of Busy Month For Ignite Midgets
I think it is great that USAC is allowing some different sportsman type engine packages to run with the focus cars... there are several ways to make a midget engine out of a chevy ecotech and some of them can be done for CHEAP, much cheaper than the 9 grand or whatever a sealed Focus motor costs....one of my buddies hurt both of his ecotechs recently and was able to rebuild them for 250 bucks each by putting all of his externals on another salvage yard motor... and the guys at SET racing have developed a very economical package over the last few years that the average person can afford to compete with....hats off to USAC, KMMS, Illini Racing series, and everybody else who is working towards a truly affordable way to power midgets.

it's unfortunate that this was scheduled last minute against Montpelier's Midget date. A lot of drivers on your list have full Midgets also (Briggs, Tilton, Heydenreich, etc... When the season started, they could run both series with no conflicts. Now they will have to choose one series or another last minute. Not sure how those racers or tracks win especially when Montpelier has been one of primary tracks and supporters of the Focus club the past few seasons. Both tracks will lose cars that could of supported the series.

Especially when taking into consideration that we started talking with Put in mid-June. We are not in the habit of conflicting with tracks that support us, but since we lost 4 races of a 16 race schedule to rain, we needed to find other dates to run a full series. As the year gets later, those dates get harder to get without a conflict. And with that I ask you, how many Sprint Car races were run this past Saturday night (while USAC Midgets & Silver Crown were in Kansas)?? It happens, and the world goes on. To take it a step further, the only one in your attempted list of names that will have true conflict is Stratton Briggs. Johnny runs anywhere from Montpelier, to Focus, to Vermont, and Tilton has not run with us all year. So try again. Now maybe this wasn't answered the way you like, but I get so tired of yet another nice positive thread, being thrown to the negative for really no reason..... Especially from a first time poster. |
The Montpelier Motor Speedway wants no part of this discussion on a public thread. We always make our contacts privately through phone or email. Any concerns we have will be handled that way and ask that if you have concerns that you do the same.
This is a great opportunity for the Midget racing community and fans to support tracks locally. Hopefully, cars legal In either of these divisions get out to show their support and both tracks have good shows. Craig, we attempted to contact you after seeing the post, but your mailbox is full.
