MTQRL TQ's to Race at the Rush County Fair Wednesday June 26

The Midwest TQ Racing League presented by Jenmarco.com will make their annual trip to the Rush County Fair on Wednesday evening June 26th. This event will be the second of the year for the MTQRL three-quarter midgets after Saturday's race at the Shelby County Fairgrounds was cancelled due to heavy rain and standing water on the racetrack. Muncie's Nick Speidel is the lone feature winner of the 2013 season after his victory on June 15th at the Montpelier Motor Speedway.

Several Rushville drivers are schedule to complete including four-time and defending champion Tate Martz, Matt Hedrick, Aaron Percell and Dalton Miller. Others from the area include Milroy's Jon Steed, Fountaintown's Kyle May, Greenfield's Rex Griffin, Shelbyville's Chris Mann and Waldron's Bobby Walton. Percell, Miller and Griffin are all rookie drivers and Wednesday will mark their first appearance at the Rushville track.

Practice is scheduled for 6:30 pm with qualifications immediately following and racing at 7:30 pm. Adult general admission is $8.00, children 7-12 are $2.00 and those 6 and under free.

Great show, a traditional fair date, like the old days. Get a elephant ear and enjoy the racing.:6:

This race should have a good group of cars showing up since there have not been many races this year for the tqs..

MOTHER NATURE WINS AGAIN!

Tonight's racing program at the Rush County Fair in Rushville, Ind. has been cancelled due to persistent rain showers and muddy track conditions.

If you did not receive a refund at the track for your pit pass your arm band can only be redeemed for pit admission on July 4th at Rushville. The arm band is not valid at any other MTQRL events.

The next race on the MTQRL schedule is Saturday June 29th at the Montpelier Motor Speedway in Montpelier, Ind.

They tried their best to work the track back in after the rain storm passed, but luck wasn't on their side. The sprinkles and light rain while working on the track didn't help at all.

I'd say about halfway home, I noticed everything looked dry. Once I arrived home, I again thought it looked dry as could be. My wife proceeded to tell me that it hasn't rained a drop! I live maybe ten minutes from the track. It just wasn't meant to be...

These pop up showers are isolated and last night was strange. I drove down and it looked really dark by the time I got to the fairgrounds. They were qualifying and I was walking to the grandstands and it started raining. Didn't last all that long but the track was extremely muddy. They tried to scrape some of the mud off and repack it.

Try as they might it was getting somewhat better when it started to sprinkle again and then finally another pop up shower. On the way home it rained lightly for about 2 miles north and then absolutely nothing. The road was dry and it never did rain all the way back home. In fact the sun came out briefly. Hopefully tonight will be better for UMRA.

Yes that was crazy weather. Really sucks to I herd there were 28 cars in the pits. Pit area did look pretty full. I will give credit to the fair board, this is the 3rd time they have been hit with rain before a show this week. Saturday we had over 2inches in less than an hour before my show. In just over 2 hours they had the place ready to go. Then Sunday they got hit before the tractor pull. They were able to get that show in to. I guess last night the luck ended.

If 28 made it look full, you should have seen the Pits before they were bigger and With 50 cars in there!

One thing that JT didn't mention was that the pits used to be a lot smaller, too. So, talk about looking like a pits full of cars. A smaller pit area with over fifty cars crammed in there.

Also, I believe the pits looking full comment might just be in regards to the field sizes in recent years. They are smaller than they used to be, but it's always a good show with the TQ's, at any track. Almost thirty cars is a healthy field, which I'm fine with the pits looking pretty full comment. :)

Pretty sure mtqrl would have had over 30 cars if it wasn't for the weather. I know of several that stayed home because the radar didn't look good.

I would totally agree with that. The fact that I got to the track late, but still pulled into the pits with haulers in front of and behind me. That definitely made me believe that there were probably some that decided not to chance it. On the same token, some decided to make the last minute choice to come to the track.

I remember 65 in the pits for the "Rushville Nationals" (around '99) when I was running....ahhhh the good old days.

TQ's racers ar just like everyonbe else. The ecomony and hard times have effected the fields anbd attendance. I remember when a few guys from California would come to Indiana for the Rushville races. Can you imagine what it would cost a guy now who races mostly as a hobby to tow that far. I know towing expenses are hitting many right now.And the forcast for this week is enough to make you give up.:14:

treecitytornado 6/27/13 4:31 PM

Shawn, I did mention that the Pits are bigger now.

Like Shawn said, I was refering to recent fields. I used to help my uncle park haulers so they could get in as many as possible. That was also when most of the guys came in on open trailers or very small enclosed trailers. That was back in the day when just making the feature was a victory.
