Re: Who'll be at the Hoosier Hundred?

It will be interesting to see how many cars and people will attend that race, since they moved it to a thurday nite. That could hurt them. Car wise i think twenty to twenty five. Hopefully!

HardyBoysRacing 5/14/13 11:53 AM

Hardy Boys will hopefully have two cars there-#14 Shane Cockrum and #15 Casey Shuman! Looks like it's gonna be a great season with a much better car count!

For what its worth, what a terrible move moving the race to Thur. Last year my son and I went to carb day and indy lights race then went to the Hundred it was a great day.

I hope there is a good reason they moved it, now I'm not going to either. I can't justify the 2 days off and the travel cost since I'm coming from a long way.

very sad:7:

HardyBoysRacing 5/14/13 3:39 PM

Here's who I've got down to be there, but I'm sure some will be added/removed.

A.J. Fike, Tracy Hines, Shane Hollingworth, Brian Tyler, Russ Gamester, Bobby East, Dave Darland, Levi Jones, Miranda Throckmorton, Taylor Ferns, Jerry Coons Jr., Chris Windom, Kevin Thomas Jr., Chris Urish, Kellen Conover, Kenny Gentry, Randy Bateman, Robert Ballou, Zach Daum, Rich Tobias, Todd Kane.

A few drivers are questionable but hopefully they're all there! -
Kody Swanson, Shane Cottle, Aaron Pierce, Bryan Clauson, Jon Stanbrough, Chris Bell

If you have never been before, this would be a great year to go! The Hoosier Hundred is an awesome event and it has great history! Looking forward to next Thursday!

Surprisingly they moved it in an attempt to get more people there. They felt that the festivities at IMS were preventing people from getting over to the fairgrounds to watch it. I have made it the last few years as well (After attending carb day festivities) but will probably not be coming down at all this year either.

Sounds like the Ricky Nix entry will be there with Swanson, glad to see that for both of them

I'll be there, also increasing my supply of blurry photos. Many thanks to the Hardy Boys Racing team. Shane and Casey are both great guys, and the seats you've provided them is greatly appreciated by this guy.:6:

I'll be there. The date actually works better for me. I don't miss a sprint race on Friday.

Re: Who'll be at the Hoosier Hundred?

The 1st Hoosier 100 was held September of 1953 and i was 11 months old, but i have been told i was there, and have been to every one ever since. A few recent years all we got to do was watch it rain, but i was there. They could hold this race on a Tuesday morning at 3 am and i would be there! I understand the out-of-towners and travelers having trouble getting an extra day vacation and not being there, but there is enough locals that we should fill the Fairgrounds. Instead of complaining about the move, we should thank our lucky stars that we have brave promoters like Bob Sergeant and his partners for saving the Hoosier 100 for us loyal race fans. They took the chances and out of their own pockets built better fences and made improvements in the track so that we can still enjoy the USAC Silver Crown cars on the Indiana Mile. THANK YOU:9: THANK YOU:9: THANK YOU:9:! bob

I too was there in 1953 and believe I remember, if my memory serves me correctly, Bob Sweikert, Don Freeland, Johnny Parsons Sr. and Manny Ayulo putting on a very good show all vying for the win. I think Sweikert won.

Is there a location a handicapped person can watch at least some of the track from their car?

Racephoto1, thank you very much for the kind words. There is nothing more in this world that we love more than open-wheel dirt track racing and we are very proud and humbled to be part of a series with so much history. We are extremely grateful for all of our team, drivers, friends, sponsors, and fans. There is nothing like being the little guys in the sport and having so much support and are so proud to have two very nice cars that we can have piloted by such great guys as Shane and Casey. Thank you all for the support!! We appreciate every single thing you guys do for us! Hope to see you all at the mile! - Greg Hardy

I plan to be there. The Thursday date probably works better for me because I can attend the sprint car races at Bloomington now.

TQ97 5/15/13 2:10 PM

Since Friday is the rain date, pretty sure they moved to Thursday to give them 2 chances at getting the show in. Hard to complain about that.....

There is parking in the infield but I don't know how much of the race you can see from that vantage point. Their is handicapped areas in the main grandstand that would offer much better viewing for sure.

I've been in the infield, turn 2, for a few years now. There is plenty of parking there and the view is O.K. Mudpacker is right about a better view from the stands, but if ya gotta be stuck in a car watching a race, turn 2 may be your answer.
It's about half of the grandstand ticket price for the infield.

Re: Who'll be at the Hoosier Hundred?

I too was at the new revised addition of the Hoosier Hundred in 1953. I had sold tickets for the 1953 Indiana State Fair and they asked me to sell admission tickets at the gate for race in September. After closing the sales at the gate we watched the remainder of the race while seated in the aisles. The grandstand was packed. As stated before it was a close finish with the 4 drivers almost covered by a blanket. I have attended most of the races since then and plan on being there next week.

That's a pretty good entry list if it all holds together. Nice to see Darland and Nix back in the series.

They have Casey Shuman marked as driving for Mcquinn. He's gonna be driving the Hardy Boys #15 Foxco Chevy powered beast
