I would like the change of The Rich Vogler Classic go from Winchester to Salem.
Rich was good at Winchester, but he was good at a lot of tracks. He passed at Salem and I believe that is where his memorial race should be held.

Kyle, would you call that the Grouchy Geezer Memorial??

JUST KIDDING!! Allen and Butch are both great guys and both taught me a lot over the years! One of my roughest summers was working for Allen and his landscaping business. The man tried to kill me I think! :O:

How about a Chuck Amati Classic at Haubstadt?

Due to his past successes at Terre Haute, USAC and the action track should have the Gary Bettenhausen Classic. 50 lapper. With Gary presenting the winner with a Winchester Rifle in victory lane....ahhhh, good times! :thumb

I'd go to that race every year. Not only should there be a race named after Chuck Amati the Hall of Fame driver, but also Chuck Amati, one of the sport's great ambassadors and showmen. In the days that everybody went to the pits right after the feature, you could tell that few drivers relished the chance to interact with the fans, as did the One Armed Bandit.

How bout a Talk2Drivers.com classic at your local bar/pub???

Seriously.... when Haud retires there should should be a Jac Haudenschild Classic at Eldora. Does ANYONE ride the wall there like Haud does? After he won the Royal in 98.... we asked him why he was bouncing the RR off the wall in both corners every lap. He said "When the cushion is that high... you're not FAST unless the RR bounces off the wall." The man is a BADA$$ at Eldora!

How about a Bill Lipkey Memorial at Kokomo. Maybe a USAC midget race since he promoted the first USAC race ever. (and the last AAA race)

I'll 2nd that. I always thought they should have named the indoor show in Ft. Wayne in Bills Memory.
Now that I say that, they might have had, or still might have a Bill Lipkey Memorial Race at Baer Field in Ft. Wayne since he had owned that track as well for a time.

Yea, that makes sense, kinda like telling your dad you love him after he dies, or jumps off a building.

To name a race, all you have to do is come up with the sponsorship money. Most tracks will be happy to help. :-)

Re: Race Names????

" The Big Bopper Classic" in honor of Stapp. Run it at Eldora, Knoxville or THAT. Run twin 50 lap features with an inverted start for the second race based on finishing order of the first. Winner of each feature gets a check and a bonus if the driver wins both. The bonus could be a pair of bib overalls, and a straw hat/the fake flower.:O:

Don't agree with that. I was at Ventura the night of the "Tribute To Sleepy Tripp" race back in 1992. Sleepy won a race named after him, I think Ron Shuman was second and Jimmy Sills 3rd. was a great race as was good that someone like Tripp could be given a tribute while still racing and winning it made it even better.
Just my $0.02
