Decision needed for Friday night racing in Kansas City

It is decision time here in Kansas City. We have the POWRi midgets at Valley Speedway, and we have the USAC sprints at US36.

The pro's for Valley: The midgets put on a great show at this track. The last several shows have made my top races list. The con's: Valley is still a little rough around the edges.

The pros for US36. It is an absolute speed factory. The speeds are insane. The cons: Car counts are going to be suspect. The track is so fast that you sometimes need the traffic to break up the leaders line.

I am leaning towards Valley because the track to continue to book the POWRi shows. What would you do?

You have to decide for yourself
I personally would much rather watch a crisp run show with a full field of cars
I've sat through many USAC nightmares, I've never been disappointed by POWRi ( not a member)
I would be at Valley if it were me
Disclaimer; we do run our sprint car at Valley on occasion and purchased a midget to compete in their weekly races on a part time basis
With their curfew you will be out at a decent time, the track will be slick and passing will be exciting
The way I look at it regardless where you go it going to be great
Jeff

Re: Decision needed for Friday night racing in Kansas City

I'm tentatively heading that way this weekend myself-weather permitting, which really wasnt looking to crash hot for this weekend.

I'm planning on going to Valley Speedway for POWRi because:

1 I am Chett Gehrke's only fan (ask him if you dont believe me) and I havent seen him race for awhile. He told me that Valley is pretty racey.

2 I have never been there,so another track to add to the list.

3 I know exactly what I am going to get going to a POWRi race. Seldom am I disappointed with POWRi,thats why I go watch them quite often.

Saturday I am planning on going to watch the USAC race at Eagle. I've only seen a race there once many years ago, a WoO "Gummy Bear" race after Knoxville. I've wanted to see a non wing race or a midget race there for many years.

Hopefully on the way over I'll make a detour to talk ******** with the 3 time "unofficial IOW Missing fan of the year" Morty, and hopefully Debbie will bring home a Chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting from "Bake U Smile" bakery.

Its a win win either way, Don't worry about the car count at the USAC race this is also a WAR Wingless Auto Racing race and they will bring 15-20 cars themselves.

The US 36 race only had 18 cars there last year but there were 18 good cars and it was a damn good race!!!!

I am afraid that my decision might be made for me by mother nature.

I planned on going up to Osborn but I don't wanna miss Powri at Valley either. At this point just hope that one rains out or they both do and reschedule for different dates.

If you ask Chett who his only fan is,he will tell you its me. Its been a long time running joke between he and I going back to the first day I met him at "Cousin" Jimi Quin's shop in Brownsburg many years ago.

Ask Chet if Uncle Steve is a fan of his.

The weekend weather looks atrocious for racing in Mo. and Neb. Highs in the 40's during the day with a chance for rain. Probable chance for rain. Both USAC and Powri should look at this before making the teams do the long haul.

USAC canceled both races for this weekend. This seems to be the winter that will not end.

I havent heard a anything yet from POWRi yet. Its to far for me to drive for questionable weather.

I hope not either. Plan B looks like Eldora, even though its not really what I want to go watch, but it is sort of on the way to Fremont, where I have never seen a race. Maybe I can get Shirley to make me a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting?

Then back to The Kokomo Speedway for opening night.

Decision was made for me today. My kids soccer practice was rained out on Thursday, but we will have a make up indoor practice on Friday night. Since I am the assitant coach, I need to be at practice. The things that we do for our kids. :D
