With the rain we received today along with what was already on the ground, I certainly don't see how any of the dirt tracks could be running this weekend. Also, they are calling for more later in the week so that might just end that conversation period.

I feel for the farmers who now must worry:( about another short growing season this year. The farm fields are flooded so it will be some time until they can get in the fields and work them. Just means higher prices at the store.:7:

No worries here in Lawrenceburg, we are suppose to get rain all week, but Saturday is looking great! See ya at the races this weekend.

We should be accustomed to April rainouts. By my (informal) count the last two years, on local dirt tracks we ran only 6 of 20 scheduled Sprint Car races in 2011 and 8 of 17 in 2012. I think the best part of that is calls are made early and several tracks have the text message alerts.

Looking forward to a super heavy, tacky track, Dave! I'll put 30 tearoffs on if I need to! Look for me in the Brown's Oil Service, Brad Penn Oil, Dragon Racing Fuels, Buffalo Wings & Rings, American Racer, among my other great supporters, Sweat Auto Center, #1SAC, inferno orange, Maxim, Gaerte.

A little common sense goes a long way. Nothing we can do about mother nature when she sets her mind on something.

I've taken Friday off work and am hoping to make my first visit to Bloomington and Haubstadt this weekend. I drove a thousand miles and made it to three days of racing last weekend. Don't let me down Hoosiers!

I think Haubstadt is looking pretty good right now. I hear Levi throwing a wing on the Jack Rogers machine for this show. Wondering if any other locals gonna be bold enuf try to add wing and attempt to make show.

Hamby812 4/17/13 9:54 AM

As of now Saturday looks good for Haubstadt. Sunny with a high around 60. Ya it's wings but I'll take what I can get with the weather we've been having. And if anyone can get a track into shape it's Tommy and crew.

Start Building the ARK. Take a look at the Radar and whats coming.

Everyone stay safe. Weds night and thurs storms have a moderate risk of severe weather includes most of indiana.

Re: Rain!!

I'm still heading that way on Friday...

Any recommendations on tracks in Illinois or Southwest of Bloomington that I can go to?

Dirt is preferred, but I'm not a snob, I can watch late models, mods or wings.

Not a prob..........Talked to Jack Rogers earlier this week and he said Levi is super-psyched about running with the Outlaws!

kylezero 4/17/13 10:23 PM

I had a whale of trouble getting any time off the last two seasons and with more pull this year I was able to get the last three Fridays off. Not a single one worked out.
I didn't even consider asking about this Friday. That means you are safe at least for Friday, as the racing is sure to go on if I'm not headed that way. :)

Haubstadt is suposse to get rain Thursday and it should be out of here by midnight Sure wish Outlaws still took the wangs off

PatrickMead#13 4/18/13 4:06 PM

Looked at the radar and I hope everyone is safe and sound. Looks pretty dicey north of Indy and along the Illinois /Indianapolis state line right now.

With the amount of rain we have gotten in central IL, I'm worried Jacksonville and Terre Haute might be cancelled NEXT weekend.

PatrickMead#13 4/18/13 4:23 PM

It looks pretty bad on the weather channel. They said there is a "PDS" warning in western and central Indiana including Indianapolis up torwards Fort Wayne. They say its a warning for a potentially dangerous situation. Crazy weather that's for sure.

I just before noon dumped 4.4 inches from my rain gauge only holds 5". An it is still raining looks like it has another 1/2" already. We live 30 miles northeast of St.Louis.

Re: Rain!!

I get concerned about bad storms but my goodness gracious the Weather Channel hypes this stuff hoping to freak you out. A bimbo last night said "everybody should be scared in this area," I guess because the gov. can't protect us from bad weather. We have had a great day here in Evansville with no rain and little wind. That may change later but Haubstadt will be a big, fat "GO" Sat. night. What does come is out of here by midnight so there will be two days for the parking lot to dry. Paducah still looks good, too, so far for Friday night. If you listen to the weather people like they're gods you'd be scared to drink a beer outside in the lawn 80% of the time. Keep in mind that the two things that generate TV ratings are blood and fear and there has been way to much blood this week between Boston and Texas.

I'll be really surprised if any track in Indiana or Illinois gets there show in this weekend. I just don't see it happening way to much rain and as of 01:44 on Friday morning it's still steady rain i'm a doubter STUPID RAIN!!!

burg is sealed over, rain to be out by noon friday. Im betting he has to water it some.

Don't know about Eldora, Know last week they called it. We'll see what happens.

herbie42 4/19/13 2:57 AM

Re: Rain!!

Hopefully Putnamville was smart enough to seal it over since the owner has a dirt construction bussiness you would think he would have a clue but I doubt it. The cool temps won't help dry any thing out much but I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Charles Nungester 4/19/13 7:42 AM

Re: Rain!!

Not bragging, Just saying we got lucky, Rain only lasted about three hours in greater cincy area and is gone Eldora got a bit more but I know they got a lot more than us tuesday before the front backed up.

Hope everyone is safe.

The best way to miss the "April" showers is to start racing in March and take April off.

Remember: "It don't rain in Indiana in the Summer time!!"
