Re: Kokomo Grand Prix Changes
Per the tv station in indy they have already had 1 and a quarter inches there with even more on the way.

Re: Kokomo Grand Prix Changes
I agree on the sucking. Horrible move for out-of-towners. Vacation wasted, have to cancel hotels, turns a full two day show into a partial one day show.:7:
Oh well, what are you going to do. Maybe I need to reconsider living in Michigan :) |
Huge storm passing Stl area right now.
|
Re: Kokomo Grand Prix Changes
It is still going to be a 2 day show..just moved fridays show to sat and saturdays to sunday..a ton of rain has fallen in this area..at least they put a plan in place in case something like this happened..they will have a big challenge getting everything ready to go..but the Oconners can make it happen :)

Re: Kokomo Grand Prix Changes
Yes it will still be a two day show, just not for the out of towners who need to be home Sunday :(
But yes, the track owners and operators at Kokomo are great. That's why we love going there. Just sucks in our case. That's the nature of racing though. Especially racing in April... |
Re: Kokomo Grand Prix Changes
I've heard thunder for about an hour now with steady rain. Theres no questioning there call. It sucks for those out of towners but they made the right decision
|
Re: Kokomo Grand Prix Changes
is today Wednesday?? is this Indiana??
|
Re: Kokomo Grand Prix Changes
That's the way it goes in April. This might throw a wrench into our plan of making the road trip but we didn't decide for sure yet. Just to tough for us to get off of work Monday on short notice. Not complaining, the right call was made.
|
Sorry everyone,
Probably my fault on the rain. My wife and I were planning this weekend as part of our anniversary, and we seem to be cursed with rain on every significant event (First date, engagement, wedding, first anniversary). I guess I have no choice but to take full responsibility :3: :15: Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Kokomo Grand Prix Changes
Count two more that can't be there. One of us has to be back early Monday. Damn.
|
Re: Kokomo Grand Prix Changes
In looking at the radar, I'm more concerned about what is still headed this way. A lot of yellow and red on the map in Illinois and St. Louis area. Not so concerned about racing right now as I am for the safety of all who could be affected by this storm. Be safe. Tough night ahead.

Re: Kokomo Grand Prix Changes
For a few reasons this is no good. 1st, southern Indiana needs that rain more than the north. Wish it had settled about 100 miles south. I'd rather drive through rain and get to a dry track than the opposite. 2nd, while my schedule is pretty flexible, I can appreciate the dilemma of those who can't go on Sunday. 3rd, we Hoosiers may not be invaded by the Sprint Car Cheeseheads. :7:
Tim, if you and company can't make we'll look for you next time. |
Re: Kokomo Grand Prix Changes
Well I couldn't make both days in the first place. Thankful Saturday was the one day I was coming. Still coming down, cant wait.
|
At least it's not canceled completely..

Moved to Sat. and Sun. could work out great for me! Was not going to attend but now that Sunday is in might be able to go now!

Re: Kokomo Grand Prix Changes
any word on the sunday race time?
|
Would think racing around 2. That way people who stayed the extra day can still get on the road home early. Kokomo would have no problem with a day show, with their great track prep. Also small chance of rain Sunday night.

Re: Kokomo Grand Prix Changes
Too bad the weather isn't cooperating, but then again, like someone said, it IS April.
The Sunday Kokomo date/time also throws a wrench into anyone who was originally planning on the Kokomo GP being Friday & Saturday and then the Glen Niebel Classic at Anderson on Sunday Afternoon. I just hope someone can get SOMETHING in this weekend. April is a tough outdoor month. |
Re: Kokomo Grand Prix Changes
Jill put a pic up on instagram and the whole infield is underwater. Lot of work to do before Saturday.
|
Still a light rain falling, been raining off and on all afternoon. Work to do is correct.

Yeah I drove by after work at 8 and all I can say is the parking lot is almost completely under water and its still raining steady I don't know if they'll even be able to pump the water out by Sunday. Hopefully we can get at least one day of midget racing in but right now its a long shot.

Re: Kokomo Grand Prix Changes
Thanks for the info Mr. Funk and BrandonT30. Us cheeeheads are choosing to not make the trip. I hate to give up on it but Saturday might be in question and Sunday creates a bigger problem for us. Not able to get vacation Monday or even Sunday night for my buddy Ted who works 3rd shift Sunday night. I hate to miss it since i love midgets (and i am a midget) but it won't work. Midget week is planned for us hitting 4 out of 5 nights, just skipping Gas City. However, in place of this trip to make it up we are thinking of hitting the USAC sprint races at Gas City and Putnamville in 2 weeks.

Re: Kokomo Grand Prix Changes

With all the rain that appeared to hit that area, I had a feeling Saturday might be questionable even with some dry time. I didn't so much worry about the track, it's the other stuff around it (and infield).
I still plan to do both days, but if they have to cancel does LPS look good for Sat (Lawrenceburg has said they are a go)? Not sure what kind of rain totals they got. Not trying to hi-jack, just want to get two races in this weekend since that was the plan. |
Re: Kokomo Grand Prix Changes
KT,
Anderson Sunday and Kokomo Sunday night. Two races! bg |
