MSCS/POWRI shows

Friday @ Paducah and Sat @ Haubstadt

Who's going?

Just wondered if any teams would do this doubleheader instead of Richmond.

Bill,
While you are in the area you might want to check out Pattie's 1880's Settlement in Grand Rivers. Great pork chops and I had a wonderful filet there a couple of years ago.
I'll probably bring two friends with me to Paducah, and, of course, I'll be at Haubstadt.

OMG - absolutely - if you haven't been to Patti's I highly suggest you go! 2" thick pork chops, flower pot bread, and the biggest pieces of pie you've ever seen. They have a web-site: http://www.pattis-settlement.com/ and I suggest you see about making reservations because they do a large amount of tour group business.....

Bill,

I ate at the Iron Kettle several times and enjoyed it, but I also enjoy Patti's very much. They are both good; just different, kind of like comparing apples and oranges.

I am bringing a crew to push the Paducah show on Friday, then we are kicking back with a cold one and watching at Haubstadt on Saturday. Should be a great weekend of racing.

I'm just planning on hitting Paducah. Have a family get together on Sat. : /

I believe the sprint races pay $2000 to win apiece.

I'll come down from Springfield for both. Much as I like to eat, I really appreciate the recommendations for Paducah.

One thing different between friday night at paducah they are running five classes of cars a little bit of overkill there.Saturday night at Tri-State they are only running two classes of cars thanks once again to the class track for leading the way on how to run a special show.

Re: MSCS/POWRI shows

Thanks for the post on the five classes at Paducah, the night after a big LM race. That makes the choice for me whether to drive about 35 miles to support a promoter who is really trying at a local track in Jacksonville, or drive over 270 miles to go to what may be a really bad dust bowl to support a promoter who doesn't appear to care much about us fans. Boy, what a tough choice. My weekend just changed to Jacksonville, Haubstand, and perhaps Kokomo.

Again, thanks so much for mentioning that. I really appreciate it. You saved me time, money, and probably lots of irritation. Help like that is what makes this such a good board.

frank,
those 5 classes are supposed to be all open wheel.
SPrints -midgets - mini sprints-mods - crate late models.
4 out of 5 considered open wheel.

What type of following have the POWRI shows had this year? How many midgets do you think will show Saturday?

AlkyMadness 6/25/08 5:37 PM

Re: MSCS/POWRI shows

I think passing up the Paducah show is a big mistake. I'd be there in a heartbeat if I could (and I'd be driving about 500 miles).

Last years MSCS show that Kruseman won was exciting. That was my first time there and I didn't realize it was banked that much. Only downside was Boespflug getting hurt. Add the POWERi and this should be a great night. They also ran crates that night and that was a good race. I beleve Terry English' son won.

They have had between 30-40 cars at the few shows mother nature has allowed this year. I know some teams that normally don't run with POWRi were talking about making the trip since it's a 2-race weekend for the midgets. Also, other guys are getting restless after sitting out Knoxville last weekend. If I had to guess, I would say around 38-40 midgets:thumb
