Kiss Tonight At Paragon
With All The Names That Raced At Btown And Gas City Who Of These Guys Will Try To Beat Js Tonight???????????
|
Re: Kiss Tonight At Paragon
Looked like a nice field at Gas City. If the front runners from there show up I'd say The Demon would be up for another race with JRS thinking back to the Gas City race last month. Would be cool to see Cottle show up in the Contos car. Paragon might be the best KISS this year as far as car count.

Re: Kiss Tonight At Paragon
The Weather forecast is saying about 50% chance of rain today when will it start to not rain on racing weekends.

Weather.com hourly forecast showing 60% chance of strong storms between 7 and 9. :headbang
I'm going to be optimistic and say no rain at all tonight. :thumb They've been wrong before. Should be a good show based upon the cars we saw at Gas City last night and the cars from Bloomington. |
Re: Kiss Tonight At Paragon
I might suggest keeping all the equipment in an "easy to load quickly" location.
Radar does not look good for a full nights racing. |
Re: Kiss Tonight At Paragon
At home and waiting to see what happens with the weather. In Brazil it is starting to rain with lightning and thunder. I just came from Terre Haute where it rained hard. Animated radar indicates the storm is headed toward Paragon area.
Probably stay here until I see what happens in the next half hour or so. Doesn't look real good. Weekend weather. :headbang |

Re: Kiss Tonight At Paragon
Like usual, once Jon Grabbed the lead, first place was no longer in question. Ripping a steak bone from the jaws of a pit bull would have been easier. The second place battle between Hunter and Kyle was a real good one. And so was watching Jesse Hockett's version of alphabet soup. His charging from the back of the C, to a top 5 in the A, made up many of tonight's highlights. Keith Ford and his staff, along with a stout field, provided a great evening of racing, for those in attendance, tonight.
Also worth mentioning, as we were leaving and the crowd was migrating down the hill, on the top half there was a motorcyclist who had to move at a very slow pace to keep from running into any people on foot. When he came to a stop, he toppled, with his right leg pinned under the bike. Immediately, a guy ran over and helped him stand the bike up. That guy was none other than Robert Ballou, who was in the Paragon stands as a race fan, tonight. Jerry |
Re: Kiss Tonight At Paragon
Jon did indeed check out on the rest of the field. A good group of sprint cars this evening and a big round of :applaud: for Keith Ford and the Paragon Speedway staff. The track was the best I have personally seen it in many years. I don't make this trip very often but tonight it was in great shape.
I was rather surprised by the crowd, or should I say lack of. Normally the KISS race fills the place and this evening it wasn't even close. Maybe the iffy weather forecast kept some people away, or high gas prices, or other entertainment options. I ran into AERO this evening and I also spoke with Jerry Shaw as well. I am sure there were other IOW members in attendance but I didn't see them. A good night of racing and congratulations to Jon Stanbrough on his 2008 KISS Championship.:respect::checkered: |

Re: Kiss Tonight At Paragon
Waited until I couldn't wait any longer to go. Weather and radar still looked threatening but went anyway. Storm was off to our north all the way to Paragon but never rained a drop on us. 53's dominance was a given, truly the King of Indiana Sprints, but Hockett's run was worth the price of admission. Gave that 71 a ride. Other good runs by Cummins, Cone, Sisco, and Hunter. I thought the crowd was decent. With 150 or so cars in the pits and $30 pit passes, they could probably break even if no spectators were on the hill. I don't know that, just guessing. I saw one sprinter come in at the middle of the program, run a few laps in the C main and load back up. Pretty expensive night for them. Glad we went. Good show!!:thumb

Re: Kiss Tonight At Paragon
By far, Hockett was the best part of the show. Coming from the C to finish 5th was pretty remarkable. He was the only car that could run the top and pass cars consistently. I think I watched him more than the lead cars in the A. He would have been a threat for the win if he hadn't started back so far.

Throughout the years, Paragon Speedway is the site of many of the sports epic battles and great performances. Runs like Jesse's and seeing Jon on that track the other night, bring back memories of the track's heyday and some of the great things that I've been lucky enough to see there. Jerry |
Re: Kiss Tonight At Paragon
I think Kyle Cummins ( thats CUMMINS coachmeece!!HaHa) ran a fantastic race. He was literally the only one on the top and made it work for nearly the entire race. He started 8th and went to 2nd by lap 15. No doubt Jon was on his game as all ways, but Kyle did a great job of staying with him after the yellow/reds. GOOD JOB KYLE!!
