The rumor mill...
This is Daron Clayton. Just dropped off my chassis at spike and everyone there said they thought that i had quit racing. Sorry i can make babies and race cars at the same time folks:D I have no sponsor, sold 1 of 2 engines to have the money to get the car back into shape for 2013. Since i have no backing sponsorship wise i will be running about half of last years schedule. No weekly shows, just not enough reward vs risk and equipment wear. Ill be hitting higher paying shows. What im looking for is a group of people to help fund my car and i realize asking fans for money is asinine but what im asking is do you know anyone who might have a business who would be interested. Any amount helps trust me. Times are tough and it took me a while to post asking people for money when i put myself into a businesses shoes. I had a great year because two people believed in me, Dan Clifton & Ray Morgan. Unfortunately were all in the same predicament. I think alot of people have a misconception of my financial position too. People me and my wife, God love her. Do this from our own pockets. I have no "mommy/daddy" money. I will continue on this journey as long as i can and its because its what i am meant to do. So for future reference rumor mill the MDC will be racing next season what i can and takin names in the process as usual.
Car owners im available. Sponsors my hand is out. And my spurs are on :6: Relentlessly Racing -Daron Clayton |
Re: The rumor mill...
Every think of trying small sponsorships in which fans can get their names on the side of your car. Seems like a couple of fellows were pretty successful at this about 35 years ago.

Re: The rumor mill...
There's actually a track out here in Iowa that allows fans to go to the pay window and sponsor specific drivers. The cash goes straight into the driver's pay envelope.
And, Ride 'em Cowboy. |
Re: The rumor mill...
Thats what im asking is multiple small sponsors. Example generator, atv, couple tires, fuel ect... Maybe a truck that gets more than 5.8mpg to borrow lol

Re: The rumor mill...
Try gun stores and Ammos Shops for Sponsorship $$ Everything they are selling is at 300 percent markup right now with supply and demand .

Re: The rumor mill...
Dang Cowboy, did you spend the "Hard Luck" cash I gave you at Osky last summer already? I expected that Ben Franklin would be with you for at least five years ;)
Seriously, I understand your situation as it gets to be a challenge to find good sponsors for my series here in Oklahoma. Your talent is to damn good to be left on the sidelines. Hope something comes your way soon. Best of luck John Lemon |
Hey Daron, just a thought. I know in the past a driver was somewhat in your shoes and a fan suggested he put his Paypal info on here so any of his fans could send money directly to him. I don't know if the driver had much luck with it but like you said everything helps. Like I said, just a thought

GIT-R-DUN,Cowboy!!! One of the most exciting drivers I've ever seen! I just wish I was a rich man,but then again don't we all! Don't give up..:)

Re: The rumor mill...
Best of luck to you MDC. One of my favorites to watch on the track. Hopefully you make it on the Eastern Swing again some year.

Re: The rumor mill...
I met Daron this year at the IMIS show and have seen him race several times. He truly is a great talent, nice guy, and adds alot of excitement to a sprint car race. Unfortunately, our sport is seeing less and less car owners and even some ride buying, which is sad. I would hate to see sprint car racing follow INDY car racing....whereas we no longer see the most talented drivers but rather the best financed drivers. Keep your chin up Daron, something will come along.

Re: The rumor mill...
Do you need an ATV to use? If you do, my family's business might be able to help.

Re: The rumor mill...
This has been posted on the South Jersey Site today By Steve Petry.
"I am bringing Daron Clayton East for the USAC wingless Eastern Storm. There have already been sponsor commitments. More sponsorship is welcome. It does not have to be big money. Every bit helps. As of now the chassis will be a Spike wingless car and the motor will be from Don Ott. More to follow. I'm really trying to help this guy out. He has a ton of talent and has matured in the drivers seat over the past few years. SEE the promotional video attached. Thank you, Steve" If interested email VPG.llc@verizon.net I think this is just great news! |
Re: The rumor mill...

He can beat the high $ guys any time anywhere. Heck at Tri State they give him a standing ovation for hot laps. You give him cash , it will be noticed.Doesn't have to be a lot, but even a little is better than nothing. |
Good luck Cowboy. Whenever your car pulls onto the track, there is a special electricity in the air. I hope you can charge the atmosphere a lot this summer.

Re: The rumor mill...
come on this kid is a real crowd pleaser, he always gives 110%, you can't help but notice him cause he's ever on the gas and on the rim and everybody loves him/ i can't think of a better investment for a sponsor so come on people, if you love motor sports and have $ to spend for advertising, get the biggest bang for your buck!:9:

Daron,
What would you estimate the cost of a per night sponsorship to be? I've got some mad money and enjoy watching you race. If I'm going to a race and your schedule is open maybe i can be a sponsor for a few nights this year? Posted via Mobile Device |

Daron sent me a great message luckybuc97, I'd love to help him some, I just have to see how much of my hard earned money Obama confiscates. I'm partial to Kokomo and Gas City, haven't made it down to Tri State, that will require an overnight stay and I've got Dad commitments that have kept me from going. We will see, I'd pay extra to see Daron race, so might as well give it directly to him than the promoter.

Re: The rumor mill...
To All “Modern Day Cowboy” Fans, Sponsors and Potential Supporters:
I want to enlighten you on my experiences from last season of partnering with Daron and bringing a top quality individual back out to the tracks to do the two things he does best. 1) Win 2) Put on great shows for the fans. First off, I want to say that my fiancé and I had a fantastic time being partnered with Daron and his wife and daughter. We look for another great year with him again this 2013 season. I am an Engineer by trade and it only took me a few minutes working with Daron on the car to realize that he is an Engineer without an official degree. If he had not decided early in life to become a professional racer, he would be a success in anything he attempted because of his work ethic, determination and intelligence but especially as a Mechanical Engineer. I was impressed every night after the races whether we won or lost. Daron rates up there with the best in the sport, not only as a driver, but one that takes all the time necessary to accommodate the fans. He is great with the adults but even better with the kids, kneeling down to talk to them one on one and makes sure they get their picture taken with him and signing autographs if they want. Our pits were usually packed after the races no matter if we won or tore it up. What most people don’t understand about last season is that our team was one of the lowest budgeted team at the track. I had lost my job with Sony DADC, Feb 1, 2012 when 5,000 others worldwide lost theirs also. So, I could help out some financially but not nearly as much as I would have liked. I brought a top quality motor and spares as well as help hands-on with the car. I can tell you that he has everything it takes to win a Championship in any series he decides. He just needs financial and product support to accomplish his goals. I reviewed our statistics yesterday from last season and I was extremely happy with the numbers that I found. Daron and I partnered for 13 races in 2012. In the 13 race events Daron won 4 which is a 31% win rate. Amazing!!! These 13 races included a Fast Time on the first night of the Kokomo Smackdown, a win at Terre Haute USAC Sprint Weeks and the $10K MSCS/USAC Haubstadt Hustler. After reviewing these 13 races, I see that 2 additional USAC wins eluded us when we were a top contender. With just a little luck when we needed it, Osky and the MSCS/USAC Lawrenceburg, we would have been at a win rate of 46%. We know as a team that this is where we should have been. This kind of win rate is our goal for the 2013 season. Just think about that, 31% win rate and a total crowd pleaser, on the lowest budget at the track. What could he accomplish with a top USAC budget? You will not regret stepping up and helping Daron, I sure don’t , and I look forward to doing whatever I can to help him get to the Winners Circle as often as he can this coming season. Thank you all, who have stepped up to the plate last season and already this 2013 season. You support is appreciated by the entire team and all of the “Modern Day Cowboy” Fans.
