Running against Smackdown and no end of season MSCS extra $ race?

Mattvp52 2/14/13 9:37 PM

Who's the new sprint car sponsor?

It seems they moved the MSCS sanction to the Sheldon Kinser Memorial and increased the purse to $5,000 to win from last years $4,000. The Mitchell-Priest Family Fall Clash ends the season paying $4,000 to win - just no MSCS sanction. They moved the $3,000 to win Spring Clash to August 16th and renamed it the Summer Doubler.

Along with the $2,500 to win KISS race on May 3rd and two $5,000 to win USAC shows Bloomington has plenty of higher paying races.

2012 sheldon kinser memorial goes to 5,000 to Win, but drops from $350 to $225 to start. Better to spread the wealth. That extra $1000 through the field would make too much sense. JMO.

Running against Smackdown that's just dumb!! But the rest of the schedule looks good. Moved some pay day's around and some races around I like it! Running against Smackdown not so much! I will be at Smackdown it's an awesome event!!

Why is it dumb?

Two reasons: many fans will be at Smackdown and most cars will be at Smackdown. You'll get your local guys that don't want to make the haul but for the most part all the heavy hitters will be at Kokomo. Good luck with that

It wouldn't surprise me if Bloomington has as many if not more cars than a USAC show at Kokomo. As far as most fans being at Kokomo, that's not true either. Most Bloomington regulars will stay at home.

I wish they would offer a big show for the modifieds.

There were more cars at Paragon on Saturday night of the Smackdown. Heck for that matter every track that raced saw a slightly larger car count on that night.

If the same the holds true this year... "Bloomington Speedway" made a good decision.

Re: Bloomington Speedway 2013 Schedule.

Wasnt paragon the only track that ran against Smackdown. As I recall USAC urged the other tracks NOT to run sprint cars against them. Smackdown is the model for the future "event" scheduling for USAC. Flame me if you want but I think this is what they would like to see for the future.

Well if you remember, if you didn't race Thursday or Friday, Saturday was pointless for a driver to show up because of points, so of course paragon would of had more cars on Saturday.

WCD is Winner Circle Designs. They are the sponsor for the sprint cars this year. The sprints are still your normal 410 non winged sprintcar.

I agree with Hoov. Running one night against Smackdown might bite you in the future. The event thing might be more common and who's to say Btown couldn't hold one of these weekend events. This could get you crossed off the list. Just my .01 cent, cause i don't have .02 cents.

addictedtodirt 2/17/13 12:16 PM

I would guess they get 40+ cars. Not everyone wants to run USAC, and Indiana is full of cars that aren't on par with USAC quality, but still put on a really good show. I would guess most of the Paragon regulars would make the voyage.

In my opinion, right there is the $1200 dollar problem. Why would a Promotor in Indiana, go out of his way to run a big paying show for the drivers/owners, knowing he will draw the same cars and fans that they get paying $1200$ to win...:19: !!!

Re: Bloomington Speedway 2013 Schedule.

I find it intersting that everyone has an issue with how a promoter schedules their races. In the times we are in right now we should all be glad that we still have all of the options that we have. Why should a local show have to base all of its decisions around what USAC does? Times are difficult for everyone and we all want to have the options for events that benefit our teams the best. Just my two cents.
