Several teams were sitting in the grandstand when I was there. Hud Cone, Kyle Cummins, and others. As I was headed home, I saw the VKCC rig parked outside the track.

I just talked to Kyle who had been in contact with Mitch at the track and he said it was rained out.

What was shaping up to be an excellent mid week show (after suffering 6 Friday night rainouts!) the promoters of the Jacksonville Speedway held a $2000 to win show tonight drawing several regular Indiana based sprinters such as Kyle Cummins, Jesse Hockett & Daron Clayton only to get a cloudburst & drenching rains leaving the front stretch 1/3 under water.

Timing was the key, If it had been earlier in the day there would have been enough time to make it work. but with it clearing & sunny at 6pm and their backs against a curfew, there just wasn't enough time to do it & regrettably Jacksonville had their 7 rainout of the 2008 season. Really a bitter pill for the promoters.

That is indeed a shame. I just hope the promoters can have some good weather and profitable races.

Me and my dad, Dale Christian, both Truckers cars, Alex Shanks brought 2, yeah, it was going to be about a 30 car field. I hated making the 280 mi round trip and not even being able to unload, but God Bless the promotors for trying something different on our behalf as well as his. The sun soon came back out but with an already water logged ground and area, no way it could have run off. Word was they are rescheduling for next Wed. Anyone hear different, share the word.

Your heart really has to go out to the Wests, as they simply can not buy a break with the weather this year.

But they're not alone, Pittsfield Speedway is 30 miles west of Jacksonville, and we've only gotten two shows in ourselves.:headbang

Unbelievable...the rain on that track this year....

While I wasn't able to go, I thought they were going to have a great show.

So is it rescheduled for next week?

You are right, we cannot buy a break this year... 10% chance of rain yesterday turned into a 100% from 5-6:00 and dropped 1/2" of rain in a half hour. It was looking to be a great show!! We appreciate all of the cars, regulars and alot of new faces that showed up. It is a bad deal all around. Right now, we are planning on the make up for next Weds the 25th.... although the Weather Channel doesn't look too promising. We will plan on it and see what happens. Thanks again to everyone for their support.

With storms in the forecast for next Weds.What if we sched. this show for wedsnday,and secretly race on Tuesday night.Do you think the RAIN GOD would buy it?:wink

Thurs. night would be ideal,but we would be pushed for time with the National Breast Cancer Foundation night on the 27th of June.I must make up some Big Ten series races for the Lm's.I am seriously thinking of Tuesday night,with a rain date of Weds. night.The reason being is the weather forecast for Weds. is not looking good.Would Tuesday be ok???:)

Our bad luck is starting to get very depressing. We got to the track Friday morning and noticed ALOT of water in the road.. Found a large amount of water SPRAYING out of the ground!!! We had a water main break by our main hydrant. Two buildings flooded, 1 is being used for an auction on Saturday. The plumber is still out there now digging it up to make the repairs... Good thing we didnt plan on racing tonight. Pictures will be posted on our website tomorrow.

We are just looking forward to get ANY show in!! Alot of time and work goes into getting the track ready and it is getting depressing just to keep starting over. But,, next Tuesday 6/24 should be a great show for the 4 classes and then Friday 6/27, hopefully we can get some money raised to help fight Breast Cancer. We appreciate everyone's support this year. Mother Nature will hopefully start giving us a break!
