Hoosier Tires Racing Series Decline Challenge!
Unfortunately, the special TRIPLE CROWN/WINCHESTER SPEEDWAY qualifying Speed Trial Shoot Out planned to be by and between the AVBBSS, HOSS and MSRXSS Sprint cars series has been canceled. The invited series did not respond to multiple invitations and the challenge to determine the WORLD’S FASTEST SHORT TRACK CARS”.
Must See Racing "American Racing Tires" www.mustseeracing.com AVBBSS Auto Value "Hoosier Tires" http://www.supersprints.com/ Hoss "Hoosier Tires" http://www.hossracing.com/ There was alot of talk about how fast the Hoosier Tires are compared to the American Racing Tires. Some people stated that the Hoosiers were at least a full second faster if not more. Must See Racing Teams on ART hold about every track record. Salem, Bristol, Winchester, IRP, Shangri La, Rockford, Slinger, Wisconsin Dells, Oswego, Anderson, Kalamazoo, Five Flags (Pensacola, Florida), Mobile Speedway etc. Last year MSRXSS champion Jojo Helberg of Rohnert Park, California set a new Winchester and World ˝ Mile record turning a jaw dropping lap of 12.669 So when it came time for Showtime, AVBBSS and Hoss Defaulted! |
Re: Hoosier Tires Racing Series Decline Challenge!
I am sorry to see the others declined this offer. But, the show must go on and we are eagerly waiting for Must See to return to Winchester. Gonna be a great weekend up there. I really like the idea of a meet & greet cookout for fans. I know Must See has some naysayers, but I see them working real hard to build upon what they have in place. They are on the right track and the racing is awesome. They get the supermodified end of things up & running right watch out. I lay asphalt for a living & thats how I like my racing, on the blacktop. Must See is the best asphalt sprint racing going. Thanks to the Wilshe's for their tireless effort to improve their series.

It's like the guy who tries to pick a fight in a bar with someone minding his own business, then walking out talking about how you would have whipped his butt. You aren't any tougher just because the guy ignored your trash talking. Run your series however you wish. It's your business and by all appearances your approach has worked well. What do I know. I don't have a horse in this race. Probably should have just kept my mouth shut. |
Re: Hoosier Tires Racing Series Decline Challenge!
High 12 second bracket but Eldora is not a half mile track as advertised. I am thinking 12.6 or 12.7 is their record.

weigh with driver 1600 lbs. I know that our track record at Bristol is 12.7 and sammy on dirt was 13.8 or so |
Re: Hoosier Tires Racing Series Decline Challenge!
Why not have a pavement sprint car race with an open tire rule? Wait, there is one The Little 500. What happens when American Race Tire has to compete with Hoosier? The American Race Tire dealer goes home early with zero cars in the field. American Race Tire took a shot at dirt racing last fall and got run out of Knoxville and Williams Grove after 10 laps, better luck next time.

I don't know how you could compare the 2, Sammy's 13.8 was over a decade ago. And the other series probably don't want to bother with the shootout because there will be a dozen people in the stands.

"And the other series probably don't want to bother with the shootout because there will be a dozen people in the stands."
Last year when the new track record was set at Winchester Speedway the stands were at least 3/4 full. Jim Hanks, owner of the series, has pavement open wheel racing on the upswing. |
Re: Hoosier Tires Racing Series Decline Challenge!
So what is the deal with guys named Don and racing tires?
|
Re: Hoosier Tires Racing Series Decline Challenge!
Brian Tyler of 6R uses the American Racing Tires just fine ask him and Darryl. The shootout was and open tire race.

Re: Hoosier Tires Racing Series Decline Challenge!
I was at Winchester last year for my first King of Wings - wasnt my cup of tea which certainly does not make it wrong. But if pavement racing is going to grow the competing series are going to have to find a way to work together not cast stones at each other. Personally I dont go to see track records, I go to see great competition and side by side racing, but pavement racing seems more interested in promoting track records and one-lap speeds.

Re: Hoosier Tires Racing Series Decline Challenge!
First I have to say I hate watching time trials. Prefer to see cars racing. So heat races get my vote. Last year at Oswego I watched the MSR sprint cars set a track record for something and then in their feature not one car passed another, sorry but that was boring. On the other hand at the ISMA show there 3 racy heats and what a lot of fans there said was the most competitive race of 2012 non stop plenty of passing. All this talk about big money is confusing what really counts is the money that reaches the racer:22:

Re: Hoosier Tires Racing Series Decline Challenge!
Don may not always be popular with some people, but he puts his money where his mouth is.
As far as the record runs: Keep in mind these guys are often visiting stock car tracks & the fans love to see how fast the sprint cars run. It's a good way to turn their heads. I'm a non-wing sprint car fan like many of the people on this site. But sprint cars are sprint cars and these guys put on a great show. |
Re: Hoosier Tires Racing Series Decline Challenge!
well GRINCH you must of mist the first couple laps at Oswego the 55 lead the first lap and finshed second to the 88 of Jimmy McCune
