congratulations, you certainly have a beautiful grounds/ i've heard you're making the track bigger/ you certainl:6:y have plenty of room to expand it. a high banked 3/8's or 1/3rd would give the racers room to work and would give me me incentive to make the trek

Please don't make the track any bigger, change the banking or make it wider, but leave it at a 1/4mile. Seems like the track has gotten narrower over the years.

I'd like to see new grandstands before anything was done to the racing surface

Why change anything?

treecitytornado 1/6/13 1:57 AM

Because every race track can use improvements or updates after many years.

I agree the grandstands need major improvements, was glad to see the bleachers on the hill replaced last year. But there's no need to change the size of the track, always loved to see the cars running up top, wide open. Seems the last few years the track has narrowed quite a lot, would like to see it widened some, but not lengthened any.

Change whatever you want outside of the catch fence. I'd really hate it for another TRUE Indiana bullring disappear.

Send him to Tri City to see a modern restroom.

dr101minisprint 1/6/13 10:57 AM

How can a track be widened without invariably being lengthened? Improving the racing surface to add another lane of racing, i understand. But if it is on the outside.....it will be longer.

the track needs to be at least 1/2 mile, the stands need a major renovation, they need ice cream in pit concession, concession stands need a delivery service, the pits need paved, they need to raise the purse 6.2%,they need an escalator from the spectator gate to the grandstands (who likes an incline?),during those hot summer nights they need misting fans, the 50/50 needs updated to the 60/40(60% to the fan),they need to install a car wash so the fans can wash the red dust off there cars before heading home(free of charge of course),kids under 50 should be admitted free(with paying adult admission).

Mike I will answer your question. Kris has a good back ground in the sprint community
I met him several years ago. I know that he help on Kevin Briscoe team years ago. He always had a dream to work on a team full time so he took the plunge several years ago. I believe he started to work as a hired wrench on the Trucker team. He then went on to help on Damien Gardner team. The last several years he work as a USAC Official in the sprint division and then in another division for USAC.
He is very laid back and is willing to listen which is the key word. I am sure you will see him around a lot at the track and know he will make a good manager.

Thanks for the info Mark. Just didn't recognize the name. I wish him nothing but the best.

Kris was also a racer but it was in the water. He was a swimmer at the University of Texas and former head Swimming coach at Indiana University. Good Luck Kris!

bigger isn't always better.....example....Lawrenceburg

I didn't think so either at first, but now I like it much better, especially as a driver.

As far as I know, there is no limit, so I'd say as many as it can get, there are no "identical" 1/4 mile tracks on this earth, that I know of, so they are all good, just some better than others. The more the merrier! Bob

Id like to see a drivers points fund like Bloomington had for so many years. I know Track Promoters thinks its not a big deal. Maybe its not. But if you want cars at the track each week $$ gives a guy more drive to make it happen. :22:

I like your thinking. :)

My personal view is that the bullrings (combined with non-wing sprints) are what make the racing in Indiana the best.

Re: Bloomington Speedway GM

The track would be plenty wide enough if it didnt rut up through the middle as bad right now theres a high line and a low tire hugging line. Also dont make it longer! People drive to bloomington to the small high banked 1/4 mile bull ring. No track like it. It is a totally different feeling when driving.
