RFactor Racing
Looking to see if anyone is interested in getting weekly / biweekly races going on rFactor. Won't be a points thing, just some pick up races everyonce in a while. The latemodel addon seems to be the most popular, but the midgets and non-wings are pretty fun as well. We could always switch it up (lates one night, sprints another).
Just seein who all would be up for it:6: |

Re: RFactor Racing
Check out www.simproracing.com and www.truspeedsim.com
They both run series races every week. SimPro is currently running a series backed by MOWA. On the 14th and 15th SimPro, along with TruSpeed and Online Dirt Racng are hosting the 2nd Annual Sim Racing World Finals event with all three classes. (410 Wing, Late Model, Big Block Mods) There is also a few other series out there running different classes. This past Monday, we had 44 people show up for a 360 winged sprint car race at The Tulare Thunderbowl. There are a lot of real racers that sim race with us "fans" such as Chase Briscoe, Chris Bell, Nick Hoffman, Mike McKinney and I believe even Kyle Larson ran a few times in years past. |
Re: RFactor Racing
I've seen those.. but being from Indiana and racing mainly in Indiana I think it'd be cool to just do some races on Indiana tracks. Most of those online leagues don't hit Indiana very much if at all (I think..) I'm thinking Gas City one night, Bloomington another. And as far as technical help... HotShoe would be the guy to ask, I think he's been on the game for a while.. I've only had it a few months.

Re: RFactor Racing
The thing that still confuses me is all the different track download variations... Different sites have the same tracks but different downloads. Anyone wanna throw up a website and we will use those track files?
|
Re: RFactor Racing
We won't require team speak.. I'm acutally not even sure what that is. But I'm thinking about pick up races on all Indiana tracks.. just for fun. Obviously we can't have people driving backwards and what not

Re: RFactor Racing
I actually have a server Jake. Im having issues with it working correctly, but I can give you the info to it if you want to figure it out and run it.
I agree with the Indiana only tracks, but lets keep it to dirt only. Maybe do a three part series, switching between late models, mods, and sprints (non wing or wing, i dont care). I've tried hard to get more indiana tracks made but couldnt convince anyone to make them. Maybe if a handful of us get together with a series we can get them to make LPS, brownstown, or other tracks. |
Re: RFactor Racing
agree on only dirt tracks. But the modified addon sucks. Stick to lates (DLM1 or DLM2 idc..) and the sprints and midgets. Working on a facebook page that we can send out dates, times, track etc.. And I really don't know anything about getting servers to work, might have to talk sometime and work it out.

Re: RFactor Racing
As far as track versions go, there are different versions that work better with the different classes. It makes it a little difficult to get everyone the correct version, but if we set up an email list it wouldn't be too tough and it would be worth it in the end. (Would make the racing better)

I just created this.. I know not everyone is on facebook, but I don't think you have to be a registered user to view that page. Like I said, I'm one of the last people to ask for technical help but I think a page just for this would be helpful. If someone can post some links for tracks and cars, I'll throw them up on that page. lets see what we can get going here |
Re: RFactor Racing
Would love to do rfactor. Where do I download the software to my computer. More info. would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: RFactor Racing
We run a leauge over on www.wooracing.net
Right now we are running pavement mods midway through the season, in the spring we are going to run dirt mods, using the modified mania mod tweaked to our liking. We have previously run the SBS non-wing sprints and they are by far my favorite cars to run. Anyone is welcome to come race with us and we would love to help as much as we can. If there is any interest go to the website or contact us at spinex@wooracing.net |
Re: RFactor Racing
If we can get this up and going, I'm in. Sounds like a way to help beat the off season blahs.
|
Re: RFactor Racing
Had quite a few people join the facebook group.. Again, if you don't have facebook I think you can still click the page and view it.
HotShoe65s and I threw some links up on the page on how to download the software, tracks and cars. Once I get my computer and everything set back up at home I'll start putting dates up... so keep an eye on this page for dates and links for help:6: http://www.facebook.com/IndianaRFactorDirtRacing |

Just so you know, you can't take a mod and change it. That is someone else's property. At that point your pretty much stealing there work, especially if it is going to be handed out to others. |
Re: RFactor Racing
I don't see the problem, heck I created the kartfactor mod and didn't have time to finish it properly. Since then it has been improved on many times but still with my base work intact. I say if you can make it better do it.

fyi: peeps should prolly ask the maker of the mod you want to change as a courtesy. besides they may even be helpful in your quest. the non wing sprints and midgets are a blast. there are some F1 mods that are incredible also. there are a ton of mods out there with leagues. from free to pay leagues. enjoy |
Re: RFactor Racing
The only thing that was changed was the amount of adjustments allowed in the sets. And I'm pretty sure we talked to the original developer.
|
Re: RFactor Racing
I wouldn't even call what I'm trying to do a league. I mean it could eventually lead that way someday, but as for now I'm seeing it as a way to get races together on Indiana dirt tracks!
If this starts working out really well, then we could possibly put a season together for points.. but for now just an easy way to get people together for some pick up races. |
Re: RFactor Racing
I just bought a g27 wheel and rfactor from amazon. I wanted to get into this in the past and never figued out what all was needed.
|
Re: RFactor Racing
I wouldn't mind messing around a little bit with it. I haven't tried any of the dirt mods for a couple of years because they all used to be "insta-spin" (trademarked :5:) or "insta-push" (also tradmarked :D) and pretty much crap. You couldn't run anything remotely resembling a realistic setup. So, I'm guessing they're a lot better now?

Re: RFactor Racing
The sbs non-wing sprints are very racey and fun as hell to drive. Havent found a dirt mod or lm that i liked yet. We run the vhr pavment mods and they are ok on the smaller tracks

Re: RFactor Racing
DaveP63 - much
11chaudion (and others getting started) - hop on a site or two and they will help you get things rolling. theyll help you get the mods and tracks downloaded. help with wheel and chassis set ups etc... the community is awesome with help. Here are a few links to get you started and ya can go from there. Here are a few links on top of the ones posted in this thread already. http://www.jcrtracks.com/ an awesome track and mod builder. has an open wheel offset super modified "mod" and a little surprise on the horizon for all you classic sprint car buffs. http://www.harmotorsports.net/ - good group supers and dirt late models/stock cars/modifieds http://www.simproracing.com - wing / non wing sprints and midgets and others (pay league) http://www.udsra.net/ - outlaw wing sprints http://www.simracingnz.com/ for you kiwi's http://www.core-racing.co.uk - for you F1 guys. an awesome group of guys mostly from across the pond. they go out of their way to help you but are very strict about race etiquette and car control. There are some more good ones out there, but along with the others posted in this thread this should help ya get started with mods, tracks, skins(paint jobs) etc... if ya are thinkin about league races, pick yourself up a headset. your gonna need to get on to a thing called teamspeak so the admins can communicate lineups etc... with you. Teamspeak is free as are most all mods and tracks. hope this can help you guys that are getting started and also with your pick up games. |
Re: RFactor Racing
Cool! If you guys are trying to get something set up, make sure everybody knows what mods to pick up and the specific tracks you want to run. I'll give some of these a try in the next couple of weeks and see. The midget mod used to be the closest, but it was still pretty bad because you couldn't get it to "take a set" so it would either spin or push like a dump truck when you gassed it up.

Re: RFactor Racing
Hosting a server on your own computer, and hosting it well is difficult. You will need to throttle the data rate for each individual upload and download and alter the frame rate to reduce the load on your processor. It really is better to spend the money each month to get a dedicated server that is on a true 100/100 connection.
If you ever have any specific questions, please let me know, been doing this for several years. -Jon http://www.wooracing.net |
Re: RFactor Racing
I bought the rfactor dvd and the g27 steering wheel. I cant get the wheel it self to set up, its like the steering wheel doesnt work. I cant turn. I can go straight but cant turn, When I calibrate the wheel it wont do anything when I turn left or right. I have no clue how to get the sprint cars/ late models etc and other tracks to add to the game. Very frustrated.

1. Make sure rFactor is not already running when you plug the wheel in. 2. MOST IMPORTANT. You need to assign which control turns left, turns right, etc in the game. Instructions: - At the main spinner screen, click on "Settings" and then "Controls.' - In the 'action' box, you will see a list of actions with what button does what. Go to the one that says "turn left", click on it, then turn your steering wheel left. Repeat the same procedure for turning right, brakes, gas, shifting, etc etc. Example (click on link below): Wheel Set-Up Link After you get that set-up you will need to set all your steering rates and sensitivities. Below are screen shots of my wheel settings. They have served me & others well for years. Again, Settings ---> Controls ---> Rates tab Rates Tab (Click Here) Force Feedback tab Force Feedback Tab (Click Here) Controller 1 Tab: Sensitivity - all options set to 50% Deadzone - all options set to 0% Controller 2 Tab: Same as Controller 1 Next, click on the "Mappings" tab, then click "Save" (in the middle of the screen). Type in whatever you like then click "OK" (now that profile is saved... you don't have to do that again!) ============================= Next thing, setting the "difficulty" - Click on the "Difficulty" tab. - Set all options to "OFF" except for "Auto-Clutch." - Rest of the options don't matter. ============================= Quote:
Anytime you download a mod for rFactor, run the installer program and then it will ask you where to install the files. Click the "browse" button and navigate to your "rFactor" folder... typically this is found at 1 of 2 places: 1: C:\Program Files\rFactor 2: C:\Program Files (x86)\rFactor After you find the rFactor folder, just click on it once then click "ok/next/install" (whatever the option is). You will be given a confirmation message that the install is done. That's it! When you go into the game and select a different "series" (ie. going from Sprint Cars to Modifieds) it is best that after making your selection you restart rFactor to make sure all the mod settings load correctly. Also, never EVER have rFactor open while installing any track or mod. Keep in mind, rFactor is a SIMULATOR, not a game, so lots of configuration is needed to get it going, but once it is going, it's a very low maintenance program. If you need any help, please let me know. I'm happy to get more people involved with sim racing. email: jrhuston81@gmail.com |
