Re: No more prelude...

it may not be done for good, just put on hold.

from the last paragragh

"The logistics associated with the Dream’s expansion for the dirt Late Model teams that supplied the cars for the Prelude, along with speedway officials who must transition the facility, prevents the Prelude to the Dream from being included on the 2013 calendar. Advance ticket holders to the 2012 event will retain their renewal rights for the next scheduled Prelude to the Dream event going forward."

That doesn't make it suck any less, I don't care what kind of racing you like. That's a great event for a great cause and I'm guessing it's going to leave a huge void in that program.

If it would draw 1/2 of the crowd that the Prelude did it might happen. Of course, hell might freeze over faster than that will happen.

1st.) if you are referring to the prelude, it is a charity event, so it has no purse.
2nd.) if you are referring to the dream I highly doubt a $100,000 to win non-wing race or midget show would be as successful. No offense, but they absolutely pack that place for the dream. The only thing that might draw close to as many fans would prolly be the woo sprints, or as rumors have it, NASCAR.

I had heard after last summers race that this event would not happen next year without a big buck sponsor. Evidently Tony found the big bucks for his racing teams but not for the Prelude.

Non wing big weekend preferred but bringing back The Big One would warrant a road trip for us, pending one night being USAC though.

Associated Press:
Tony Stewart won't hold his annual charity race at Eldora Speedway in 2013 but plans to bring it back after a one-year hiatus.

He'd also like to bring some NASCAR racing to the half-mile dirt oval in Rossburg, Ohio.

Stewart's track has been mentioned as site of a possible Truck Series race, and the three-time NASCAR champion said he'd love to play host. But he said there's been nothing beyond preliminary discussions at this point.

Meanwhile, Stewart is changing the format of the prestigious late model race run at Eldora every year. To ensure his staff can pull it off, he said he's taking a break from the popular Prelude to the Dream charity race that featured drivers from various disciplines running late models.
