POWRi at Belle-Clair still racing tonight!!!!

Millstadt, IL - The O'Reilly POWRi National Midget and Micro Sprints presented by Lucas Oil is still racing at Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, IL tonight. Belleville got up to an inch of rain last night but did not get the storms that came through central Illinois and Indiana. Track personel were working the track this morning at 7:00 am and the facilities will be ready to go by the time teams come rolling in.

I'll be heading west shortly.

I think Belle Clair is the best place to go watch a midget race, and tell others that all the time.

Unfortunately, its like the old saying "You can lead a horse to water, but you cant make him drink"

I've yet to see a bad race at Belle Clair since my first visit just a couple years ago. Cant say that about to many other places.

I'd love to go see the place AQ but cant justify the $150 in gas it would take to get there when there are closer options around here. If only 16th street hadnt closed:(

This info from the Indy Star web-site..............

Johnson and Vigo counties declared states of emergency and the National Weather Service issued a flash-flood warning from Terre Haute to near Indianapolis after 6 to nearly 10 inches of rain fell today.

Flooding closed I-70 around 10 a.m. at the 30.2-mile marker in southwestern Hendricks County, according to Indiana State Police. That's around seven miles west of Cloverdale, in the vicinity of Big Walnut Creek. A trooper at the Putnamville post said it appeared the highway was "washed out."

Johnson County and Morgan County's emergency management officials said they were too busy with rescues to share information.

Has anyone actually talked to someone traveling I70 going to Bel-Claire to see what the road conditions are ?

Need to decide whether to go or not. don't want to be stuck on the interstate.

This may apply to those trying to go to Haubstaudt today via I70/I41

Well come Hell or high water I made it to Belleville, Illinois.

I-70 was apparently closed down in Cloverdale. I came down 40 cause it was raining very hard at that time. Took forever to get thru Brazil. Got back on I-70 in Terre Haute. Got sidetracked to 40 in Illinois for about 10 miles. After that it was a piece of cake.

PS John, where were you going tonight?? You give me **** cause I went to Putnamville last week (I moved here to go racing, not sit at home) Doubtful to see you at Paragon tonight either. Were you planning on Lawrenceburg, or Waynesfield?? Didnt think so. So that leaves Haubstadt. Mileage wise Belle Clair isnt all that much further than Haubstadt would be. And if your van costs you $150 for fuel for a round trip, you'd better buy my van, cause it doesnt cost me $150 for a round trip to get here.

Another action packed night at Belle-Clair Speedway. Positions being swapped every lap,way to many to even keep track of. Your sitting almost right on the track, and its exciting to watch. Never been to another venue that produces the action Belle Clair does in its features. 6 visits to the track,6 great features.

And to think I found this place by accident on the weekend I was moving to Indiana from Maine. Everything was a washout in Indiana that weekend, and I hadnt planned on going almost to St Louis for a race as I had no income coming in at that time. But I reasoned that I was moving here to go to as many races as possible,so I should go have a look. I'm glad I did.

Wish we could have seen both! Chose the other crazy race-chasin' voyage south to Haubstadt which took 6 hours and 2 detours and drove through about 5 roads that were pretty much flooded over. It was very well worth it though as always! We enjoyed a great night of racing. Congrats Clayton & Truckers! Isn't it great we have so many great options to satisfy our love for this sport! God Bless America!

PS - Buy a Honda! The mileage is great! :)

ASQ,

I grew up in that area and Belle Clair was my Friday night track. I sure miss going there and I have promised myself that this year will be different. I have to get back home and see the midgets rock!:headbang I wonder if they still have the great fish sandwiches that I used to enjoy?:O:

I dont know if they have fish sandwiches there or not. I'm from the seafood capitol, and have been rather suspicious of what they try to pass off as fish out here !!!

Racing is 2nd to none there though. I even tried to make it there earlier this yr after Jacksonville rained out just to see how they run Late Models there.

The late model shows are okay but this is an outstanding midget track.:thumb
