Where are the Mini Sprints lining up and are they 1000cc mini sprints.

I think Bean and Winks are 1000cc cars. The #1 car of Lehr is the Evolution Ford car from WIMS.

Watson, Ransbottom, Winks, Daugherty, Treadway, and Rader are all mini-sprints that run Waynesfield.

Thanks Brian and CW for doing a great job with updates.

Congrats to all the 1000cc cars and Todd Lehr in his Evolution car from WIMS. Sure wish we could have made it. Those up dates help get other racers excited.

Honest Dad himself:6::6:

BrianBSU23 9/15/12 11:28 PM

Hollingsworth and Berryhill put on a good show for the lead. Shane spun while running second came through the field back to Berryhill. After that it was lead swapping between Hollingsworth and Berryhill until the very end.

Also, congrats to Lynsey Tilton for winning the first track championship for the Midget class.

Thanks everyone for your support tonight. We appreciate it!

Tate Martz also did a great job in the Don Moore 10. While running second he slipped over the cushion in one on lap nine, caught the guardrail with the right rear and did a "Tommy Tipover". Got righted and pushed off, came up through the field to get 6th. He picked off four cars in the last green-white-checker restart riding around up on the rim; pretty ballsy after getting bit up there earlier...

Once things got going..it was really good racing..the battle for the lead was pretty intense..Tate Martz is a gasser..the mini sprints did well..I want to personally thank everyone for coming out tonight..Everyone have a great night!

Sounds like a good show...Sounds like the Evolution car kept up really nice with the midgets because it is a midget...You guys can keep it down there if ya want... because it don't belong in the mini sprint class up here...:6:

A very enjoyable night of midget racing at Montpelier last night. It was fun to watch Shane Hollingsworth charge from the rear of the field back up to battle Travis Berryhill for the lead during the later portion of the feature. Shane used all of the race track to get back up to the front. Good battles throughout the field as well.

As mentioned by jjones752, Tate Martz in Don Moore's #10 was running the high line and caught the guardrail and flipped. I thought that he would be done for the night and off to the pits when they got him pointed in the right direction and pushed him off. Instead of moving off of the top line he got up on the wheel :31: and pushed it harder on top to come home with a respectable finish. The kids a gasser for sure.

We also stayed for the modifieds and the feature was very good. A lot of side by side racing and they put on a good show for the folks in attendance.

Congratulations to Lynsey Tilton on her championship and also a big congrats to the Montpelier Speedway staff for a nice evening of racing. I hope the midget deal can work for you folks and we can have an alternative to sprint cars on Saturday.

I thought the crowd was decent and a lot of kids at the races. Also a class act by Shane Hollingsworth to give a kid in the crowd the trophy in front of crowd after the feature. The smile on the kids face was priceless. Probably will be a Shane Hollingsworth fan for life.

I would like to see the show moved along better than it was last night. Too much down time and when you have a curfew I would think that would use the time wisely. Instead of 20 lap features for the midgets and the modifieds, maybe you could make them 25 laps and offer more racing. Just my opinion and we were still out of there at 10:20 PM so no major complaint. We look forward to hearing the plans for midget racing next year.

Re: montpelier midgets

This was a really great night of racing. All kinds of power plants were in the field. As pointed out, Tate Martz was awesome. He really let it all hang out. He must have caught that guard rail by about an inch going for the lead, but the car is OK and he is OK. He will be back.

A huge thank you goes to the management of Montpelier Speedway for believing that midgets can make a comeback in the state of Indiana. They have stuck with this plan when no other promoter was willing to stick their neck out and it seemed to have all come together last night. 21 midgets in the pits is quite an accomplishment. Montpelier is a terrific midget track and we look forward to watching this series grow. Thanks again for making this happen! And by the way.... NO TIRE RULE!! We saved a ton of money last night by not being forced to buy the purple tires. Hurray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tate's a great kid from a great family. He has very little seat time in a full midget on dirt. He has raced a full midget on pavement on occasion. I would love to see Tate get more full midget starts on dirt!

Way to go, kid!

Re: montpelier midgets

I didn't get a chance to mention Tate in my first post, but his ride on the high side was incredible. I know when the push truck got behind Tate to restart him after the flip a big cheer went up in the crowd. Don, at Montpelier alone, gave three guys new to Midget racing a shot that they may not have ever received otherwise. Tate certainly took no prisoners with his shot and turned a lot of heads!

We want to sincerely thank everyone for their support last night, and throughout the season. We know it is tough to support a new series with the uncertainties that surround it, but we hope you felt like we gave you a good place to race, followed rules, treated everyone fairly, and followed through with everything we said we would do. We certainly worked hard at it.

At the end of our season, we will survey where we are at with the series, again look from input from car owners and drivers, etc...

Feel free to PM me or email me (bemcevoy@yahoo.com) with any questions or comments, and I will get back with you.

I hope to see this deal keep building in 2013 and beyond because it feels like a great home track for us 3 hours away.... Thank you, Patrick Mead

Re: montpelier midgets

My son Alex drives the 3E minisprint – to be honest, I thought we’d make the drive from Columbus, Ohio once, say we ran against midgets on a full-sized track, and that would be it. However, we had a blast, met some great people, found we could run competitively, and decided to come back as often as we could. So despite the logistical challenges of Alex off to school at Miami University, plans to participate in the Hewitt the next night, etc., there was no way we would miss the Montpelier’s midget season finale. I’m proud as heck with the job Alex did, running 5th most of the feature and just getting edged by Tate at the checkered. Thanks to Lynsey Tilton and Joe Ligouri for their efforts to promote the series, and the help they provided to all the competitors – congrats to Lynsey on her points championship. To Brian and the staff at Montpelier, thanks for making us feel welcome, and all your efforts to support midget racing, regardless what engine is under the hood.

Re: montpelier midgets

I thought the type of schedule they had with the midgets this year was a nice fit. I do not think there are enough local midgets to support racing them every week. I think that was evident based on the numbers they got throughout the summer. However, they also had some shows that had good numbers at the beginning and end of the season. I think continuing to run them as a special series, bi-weekly or about 8-10 shows during the year is the way to continue this program. Since a majority of the midgets are traveling a fair distance to Montpelier, it would only be asking them to make a trip about every other week. If it is every week, it might be asking too much for a lot of them, and car counts would probably be pretty low. It would also allow many of the drivers and teams that race sprints or have commitments elsewhere to miss fewer races than if they raced every week, which might encourage them to run when they are having midgets. I don't see very many locals or track regulars having an interest in building a midget. Montpelier is a stock car track, but I think the support for the midget races this year was pretty good.

cwfan08 9/25/12 11:15 PM

And we live in an open wheel state..I want to see Montpelier go more open wheel in the future..I think if they choose to go with the Midgets again next year that they need to stay on the 10 or so show schedule like they did this year, I also hope that more Indiana cars show up next year..

Maybe more "hoosiers" might have them if there was a place to run. This year many people were holding back. Why buy a car to travel to Power I or Stars. Wolverine started then threw everyone under the bus. Limited groups turned into "Young Guns" and the X group came and went. Could you blame people for being hesitant. Takes time to catch hold.

10 or so shows would be awesome. Its a 3 hour drive for us but thinking real hard about building one. Just waiting to see. Also heard at 4 crown from a national driver that he was asked about running them at Bloomington on a limited basis

I understand that you run the full midgets with the 1000cc cars ? My question is how do you level the playing field ? They are talking about doing this here in Missouri.
Just wondering if you guys use a floating weight difference ?
