Glad to see this weekends events rescheduled. But hope all you sprint car fans understand that even though the king of non-wing deal is next weekend as well, mods will be the headliner probably. Don't be upset if they get to qualify and get a little more attention. It's their one big race out of the year and all the mod driver's time to shine. They put on good shows every week and deserve a big show like the patriot.

I agree with everything you said in your post, Dustin. But, I hope you understand why sprint car fans might not be all that enthusiastic about seeing sprint cars race on a racing surface that will have already been DESTROYED by a 100 lap modified race. It's an undeniable fact and there's no real way around it. And this is coming from someone who loves going to see racing at LPS. The best feature I've seen this year so far, was there. Even so, I don't know that I'm going to be able to motivate myself to want to see this one.

I think it would be cool if they would be able to qualify both sprints and modifieds...

I attended last year after Terre Haute Usac got over. They ran four classes, three consi's and the 100 lap mod feature and the track was still PERFECT for the sprint feature.

Course left at 1am with two features to go. But had a ball and tons of racing between THAT and PVILLE

Bill Gardner 9/1/12 7:40 PM

Jerry...

Sprint Car feature #1
Modified 100 lapper
Sprint Car feature #2
Super Stocks
Bombers

Should be a great night of racing.

I forgot about the 2 sprint car features. Guess I am strange because I do enjoy watching the stock cars also.

Great idea letting the sprints run a feature first. It will make for a better modified race.:8:

Wallsracing 9/2/12 3:38 PM

They never have ran sprints with the patriot

All I have to say is this is a great race! The mods put on a great show for a 100 laps. It was one of the best mod races I have ever seen. Sprint car fans should open their minds and watch more of the mod races. I think they are great.

A little back ground, worked on Sprints for 23 years. when you are seting one up you spend a lot of time watching them run. i have grown to appreciate them. And if you get down to it the suspension on one is way more complicated than ANY sprint car!

Big 100 lap feature.... qualify the mods! Might be more attractive to guys hauling several hours knowing they have a "say" in where they start, rather than pulling something out of a bag.

Jhouts06 9/4/12 1:03 PM

They have qualified the modifieds in the past. I have not heard if they will this year or not.

Dont you still pull the pill out of the bag??

Its still luck of the draw really.

the_77H 9/4/12 1:17 PM

Re: Lincoln Park Speedway-Isaac Wins!

How could it be luck of the draw when you're going out and driving the car for your starting position. Put down a good lap, end up with a good spot. Or mess it up and start in the back.

Bill Gardner 9/4/12 1:22 PM

Re: Lincoln Park Speedway-Isaac Wins!

Andrew... Modifieds qualify different than the Sprint cars do.

They pill draw for groups... Group 1, 2, 3, 4... Group 1 races Heat #1, Group 2 races Heat # 2. All the drivers in Group 1 only qualify against the other drivers in Group 1, they are not qualifying against the entire field. Qualifying is used to lineup heat races.

After the heat races are completed, the lineups (for B-main & A-main) are set based on the results of the heat races and I think the top 8 drivers draw for starting spots in feature.

I can explain it better talking than typing... ;)

During USAC events... what you are talking about applies. The driver who pill draws last normally has a slower track than the guy qualifying early.

Re: Lincoln Park Speedway-Isaac Wins!

Thanks Bill !! Learned something today.

I'll be able to go home a lot smarter than when I got up today :D:D:D

Bill Gardner 9/4/12 1:39 PM

Re: Lincoln Park Speedway-Isaac Wins!

Glad I could help.

I prefer this group qualify method much better. There is less change in the racing surface between let's say 8 cars than there is between 40 or 50 cars.

Some guys don't like it because if they have a flat tire in a heat race they are starting in the back of the B-main.

Or another complaint is that all the top dogs draw the same group.

I like seeing the faster guys battling amongst themselves rather than watching one guy start on the front row... pull away and win while the other guys are battling thru slower cars just to get into the feature.

treecitytornado 9/4/12 1:46 PM

If the Mods do qualify, it will just be 1 lap right?

Re: Lincoln Park Speedway-Isaac Wins!

That is similar to how they do the local sprint show at Kokomo.

Bill Gardner 9/4/12 1:56 PM

Re: Lincoln Park Speedway-Isaac Wins!

Another reason why I like Kokomo. ;)

Could always do the 2 heats per driver like we talked about a few weeks ago, either reverse grid of the first heat or progressive points.

kcarm92 9/4/12 2:18 PM

Re: Lincoln Park Speedway-Isaac Wins!

most likely heat race winners redraw and how they finish this race is the how they line up feature

Bill Gardner 9/4/12 2:19 PM

Re: Lincoln Park Speedway-Isaac Wins!

The 2 heat race idea wouldn't work well Saturday... To much racing. If there is such a thing.:3:

I only suggested it because I wont be there this weekend ! :D:D:D

I figured the Modified junkies would overdose on it.

Glad to see they're gonna qualify! Gonna be my first attempt at qualifying! :31:

Bill Gardner 9/4/12 2:27 PM

Re: Lincoln Park Speedway-Isaac Wins!

I'm not 100% sure about the qualifying.

If it was up to me... both Sprints and Modifieds would qualify at 3pm.

Tractor and water truck show...

Then race.

:D

AQ must be bored at work today. You going to the Ditch this weekend AQ? They even promised to run the first sprint feature before the 100 lap mod race at Puttucky Saturday.
