PENALTIES IMPOSED FROM SATURDAY AT KOKOMO

Officials of The United States Auto Club announced today penalties imposed after a racing incident involving the cars of Levi Jones and Jon Stanbrough during a weekend racing event at Kokomo Speedway.




Series officials spoke today with both drivers involved in the initial contact which led to additional cars being collected. Additionally, numerous sources were called upon including attending officials, eyewitness accounts, and track officials. Due to on-track contact deemed to be avoidable and producing a dangerous situation for fellow competitors, Jones will be penalized for these violations as outlined in 10.28 of competition rules.




Jones will be placed under probation for the balance of the National Sprint Car season, with the understanding that further infractions could lead to more severe punishment. Also, Jones and his team will be docked 25 championship points going into the next series’ event at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Illinois this Friday, August 31st.

Maybe there is some hope for the United States Auto Club.

So how many did he gain satruday by crashing stanbrough and ballou if i figured right levi is still ahead with 25 taken off.come on..should be points and 2 race suspension

Here's unofficial updated points, subtracting 25 from Levi Jones previous total:

1-Jones-1,590; 2-Stanbrough-1,589; 3-Darland-1,577; 4-Clauson-1,487; 5-Tracy Hines-1,370; 6-Gardner-1,350; 7-Schuerenberg-1,242; 8-Stockon-1,235; 9-Ballou-1,230; 10-Thomas-1,216.

This sounds like a NASCAR press release. Get tough on this kind of behavior: suspend him for the rest of the year in all divisions.

Maybe this is what happened,USAC called TSR and asked,we really need to do something here,what should we do not to pizz you off too much, never mind someone went to the hospital and several owners/drivers lost several $$$ in equipment and such,but you have plenty of resources to keep your team racing.:18:

So does this mean his probation is only in the sprint cars? He has a clean slate in midgets and champ cars? If so, that's dumb imo.

Here's my take:

1.-50 points docked

2.-5 race suspension-all divisions

3.-Arrested and indicted for attempted murder

4.-Complete financial restitution of all damages

5.-Forced to apologize in writing to all parties involved

I know it'll never happen. I'll just have to be satisfied by extending my middle finger in his general direction whenever I see this asshat,whether on the track or in the pits.

So, everyone demanded a penalty. USAC docked him points and put him on probation and now that's not enough? Just trying to get the whole picture here...

IMO....shoulda been 25 points plus losing all points and money for the night

I'm sure USAC took all the, "I wasn't there, but" posts under advisement to make their call.

"USAC has to do something". USAC does something. "Bull****, USAC didn't do enough". Yeah, didn't see that coming.

And yes, I do think something had to come down.

It's about as much as you could have expected. I expected nothing, so it's more than I expected. At least Jon is back to essentially being tied with him for the points lead. So Levi's not going to profit, points wise, from wrecking him. And I think you're going to see an even more determined Jon Stanbrough. He's not going to go out and wreck him, he's just going to be hell bent to not let Levi beat him. And neither one of them better look back, because Darland and Clauson are gaining on both.

probation the rest of the year. just can't please everyone. maybe usac should make TS racing buy new cars for all envolved. That's the first time Iv'e seen sprint cars flip because of heated competition. I did see Levi back off when Larson put a big slider on him. that could have been ugly too.

Atleast something was done. Im not a levi fan at all but people complain if they dont do anything and then you do when something is done. All the complaing does nothing. We as "IOW" have no control in what USAC does. Believe me, that was wrong what happened and very scary and i am a robert and jon fan but all the opinions wont change things. Sorry if this pisses people off but the complaining gets old. We should all just be happy they atleast took some action

USAC did what it needed to do. They set a precedence earlier in the year and they followed it again. What more can you ask? They did exactly what I thought they should. No more...no less. Case closed.

Now if something else happens again this year....a new precedence will be set.

Not the "Steve Butler suspension" that he deserves but what did you expect, they did enough to say they did something. I just hope I am there when the payback racing Kharma is distributed to the 20 team.

Here is what I don't get. How the hell does someone take a provisional and get points anyways. That's the biggest crock of foul tasting waste or bs which ever you prefer. And wasn't Levi on probation from Lburg anyways. So what's another little slap on the wrist. Looks like to me everyone should just stop racing so he can win another so it will move him up to the next level. Oh wait shouldn't that have happened by now. Let all hope that one of these three drivers listed wins DD, JRS, CLAUSON. Go get him and wheel'em if ya have to cause apparently everyone can play by those rules.

My wasn't there post was more toward the fan of USAC than anything else if something wasn't done. That seemed to be the consensus of the post about a little controversy.

some body correct im I am am wrong but the the only points that were given saturday were show up points. I was told this by 3 car owners, but sure they do not know as much as the keyboard cowboys on this site. As far as Levi , my grandma said if I can not say any thing nice keep my mouth shut! nuff said

They were given feature points only not show up points which is the part that sucks for Stanbrough. He finished 18th instead of 6th or 7th because of Levi. Which not only seperates Jon and Levi by 1 but brings DD and BC a lot closer.

Feature points only where levi picked up 45 points, thats why i feel the 25 point deduction isnt enough should have been all points earned saturday or at a minimum only awarded points for last place

Provisionals are b.s. anyways.If you can't make it through the heat or semi you don't deserve to be in the feature.If this was the case 2 race cars would not have been junked.

With provisionals you do not get the start money only money that you earn though going up though the feild, not sure what sixth paid but whatever it was subtract 1000 from it and that is what levi got. The only thing a provisional does is allow you to get feature points
