Re: Bloomington Speedway Judgement Call
Watching it at full speed sitting in turn one, I didn't disagree with the call. Watching the replay, it doesn't really change my mind on the call. It was close and when contact is made and a competitor fighting for the last transfer spot is taken out, they have to make their best call and they have to make it based on what they saw at full speed. Where you are in the points at the time, should have nothing to do with it. So, at the very least, it was a judgment call made on something that was a close call. By no means was it just a clear-cut bad call, IMO.
And you know this isn't coming from someone who is biased against Chase or you, Kevin. It's coming from some who is biased towards you. That's just how I saw it. Jerry |

There is a powerline or something in the way right when the incident happens that sort of blocks the view....but.....doesnt look like chase takes a hard right. It also looks like he is fighting for real estate that is free for the taking considering the prior laps...it wasnt a violent spin by any means which kinda says to me it was a "racing deal". Nothing intentional. But i wasnt there to see it clearly either...my question is, what would all of these racers and promoters have done in the old days?

Re: Bloomington Speedway Judgement Call
I was there last night and didn't think the call was right. After watching the VIDEO I know the call was not right That was just good hard sprint car racing for the last transfer spot!!!!
|
Re: Bloomington Speedway Judgement Call
IMO it was two drivers looking for the same spot. Chase did not do it intentional and it looks like a racing deal. The points implications are huge and that is a shame.

Re: Bloomington Speedway Judgement Call
Wow, seems old school racing, hard charging, last lap just doesn't work in racing anymore. Watched video, seen it happen plenty of times no matter what kind of car, chase and other guy were fighting for position. Maybe if the tracks just say at drivers meetings ok guys, line up behind each other stay in line, no passing. fans will love it! Lol. C'mon really? Don't let it discourage ya chase and really nice of team competitor to let you get in their car to get championship. Just know you still did what you could!
|
I love the comment about WoO and Swindell! That's so true! I've seen Levi Jones hit guys like this every lap in a USAC heat or feature. He's never been blacked flag. Obviously, I can see how Dobbs is going to be upset. (if it were me, I would be). But, it's racing. There's no turn signals, brake lights, or radios with spotters. I don't think Chase should have been black flagged though. He obviously tried to check up but made contact anyway. I wouldn't let this discourage either driver. Just suck it up and try again next week. As for points...well, that happens. At least chase was given an opportunity to run the B thanks to another driver. That kind of sportsmanship is what racing is all about. Good luck to both in the future!

Re: Bloomington Speedway Judgement Call
Rough Driving?? Give me a break.......Happens all the time with NO Call. Just a Racing Incident. Rough Driving penaltys are for incidents that are either flagrant or obvious paybacks. Neither of which apply here. Who ever made this Judgement call, has a bad judgement. Bloomington has to do the right thing now. Lets see if they do.

Re: Bloomington Speedway Judgement Call
If that is rough driving then sure going to be a lot of black flags coming in the future at B-ton. JMO

It was just hard racing for the last transfer spot! Nothing intentional! JMO

That has to be the most STUPID call ever made at Bloomington Speedway.:7: :42::

Re: Bloomington Speedway Judgement Call
The whole point of this post is there should never be judgement calls in racing. If a track is going to make judgement calls they need to be consistent this is the first black flag all year and I have see this happen numerous times and nothing is ever done about it. But for some reason last night they decide to do it without even giving Chase a warning. Chase should have been blacked flagged earlier in the year when he got into Josh Cunningham but was not. Chase and I both were right down there appoligizing that night and we even gave Josh one of our cars to race because we felt that bad. But last night we didn't come appoligize because it was just a racing deal both cars contributed to the out come. I still believe that it all has to do with me complaining to the owners about the track conditions earlier in the night is why it happened. He got so upset with my advice that he said he was going to give me the keys to the water truck so I could work the track the next race. When I was only trying to give them constructive critisizm so we don't chew four tires off in one night like we did the previous week.

Re: Bloomington Speedway Judgement Call
If Briscoe had gotten into him in the back bumper then I could see them making this call. But it was RF to LR contact, the #15 car left the bottom open on the last lap for a transfer spot and Briscoe did his job and took over that real estate. Bad call IMO! :7:

Re: Bloomington Speedway Judgement Call
I would be a little tiffed too. The other car must of had pretty wide left nerf bar or things would have been much different.
In the old days guys would stick their right front in front of the left rear of the car in front of them and back off a little bit, that was usually pay back and quite often put the front car out of the ball park. I did not see that in the video In fact it could be argued the outside car came down and blocked the 9 car. Honest Dad himself:6::6: |
Re: Bloomington Speedway Judgement Call
Well ive watched this a few times now and i do think this was just hard racing no one was really in the wrong. But if a call would have to be made looks to me like blocking if you go back to the quarter midget days the rules say if the car on the inside right front wheel is half way or forward of the car its blocking but if it is less then half way its charging .
|
When it happen last night I was watching my car to see if it would restart. Never saw the black flag. Had no idea Chase was flagged over the deal till way later.
It was racing to me. Sure said a few choice words in the heat of the moment. Who wouldn't? Was very proud of my driver for keeping his head an putting it in the show. We made a few changes for the feature in the few minutes we had. Boy wish I had them back......lol Dave Dobbs Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Bloomington Speedway Judgement Call
I was not there last night, I was at Gas City..but watching that video its pretty clear cut it was a racing Incident, and they happen a lot. There is rough driving no matter where you go and what class you are watching. But that last night was 2 drivers going for the final transfer spot and in Chase's case a championship on the line. Constructive criticism can be for the good at times and you were only stating what you thought would work. If they based your comments and put a case on Chase that isn't cool at all..but it is what it is..go out the last race and get a W.
|
Looks like they both were going for the same spot..chase was almost in the grass coming off of 4 and loose into 1 in the middle of the turns looked like chase pushed up and keaton made a straight line acorss the turn..idk

Re: Bloomington Speedway Judgement Call
i agree, that was a racing incident (2 cars going for the same piece of realestate):15:/ def a bad call!

Re: Bloomington Speedway Judgement Call
Probly 9P's fault, got in a little hot in a tight race. I saw nothing flagrant about it. I doubt a guy in a borrowed car wants to drive stupid, stuff happens.
|
Re: Bloomington Speedway Judgement Call
I would say that was nowhere near rough driving to deserve a black flag. Around my area, tracks like to send both cars in an incident like that to the rear for the restart. Some times a guy gets screwed by doing that, but it eliminates the track of having to make a call as to who was at fault. Would the driver had a chance to make a transfer spot if he had been sent to the rear?

Re: Bloomington Speedway Judgement Call
Wow - as a former race official I often had to make decisions on what I saw on the track. But when confronted w/ evidence contrary to what I saw I changed my decision. It was a simular accident like I saw on the video. You were there 1/2 way then when the other car came down looked like you got out of it. The light pole in the way didn't help much, but it looked like a racing accident to me. Don't know either driver & stinks for both of you but when a car jumps up like that then tries to come back down you know the other guys gonna be there. :14:
I don't believe Bloomington made the right decision. :19: |
I lead 9 3/4 laps of a MSCS heat RACE at TSS until Bobby Stines in 3rd decided to slide job 2nd place car and slid all the way up into me & took me out and nobody did a dam thing to him. I ended up turning over in the B main I never should have been in. I took it as a racing thing but didn't think it was right.

Re: Bloomington Speedway Judgement Call
Looks like a bad deal. If you are that upset you could always go racing on Fridays at Gas City I'm sure they would love to have your money and help the car count.
|
Re: Bloomington Speedway Judgement Call
On other laps in the race, other cars hit each other. If you are going to say you can't touch, then you can't touch. Especially on a small track (because it looks tires can touch rather easy) rules need to be pretty defined and stick with them for everyone.
Hard to see a black flag offense, didn't seem blatant. |
