Re: Lincoln Park Speedway-USAC Rain Date
are they going to give ya 12 dollars back haha i doubt it ******** finally get a sprint week date and they dont even try. its one thing to make up a race during sprintweek its another to do it after it was suppose to be over on saturday some people probley have flights to catch sunday

Re: Lincoln Park Speedway-USAC Rain Date
Since Sunday is the next off day it really was their only logical date. Even if tonight or tomorrow night gets rained out it would have been the same problem. I know its always a risk you take when you are coming from out of state or a long distance to any race you attend. Think this is why with the economy so bad both drivers and fans always second guess if they want to take a risk on a night with rain in the forecast on rather they go or stay home. We have seen some really small car counts this summer when rain was in the forecast.
I know that Joe Spiker has worked his butt off for Sprint Week to happen and I am sure that no one is more upset and dissapointed that Joe is. Hopefully Sunday will be a nice day and we an end sprint week on a positive note. |

So about the last lap of the feature the track might of been ok. How many of IOW posters would of pizzed and moaned about being at the track until 1 or 2 am with a top only groove???? Sure it's not fair to some who scheduled their plane tickets but what if Friday or Saturday would of got rained out??? Reschedule for Sunday I'm sure. Nobody is happy and nobody wins on a rain out. It's been that way since Henry Ford started racing and won't change. :deadhorse: Originally Posted by bmemmer: Don't even try? LPS could see by the look of the track what was instore for them to do. Re: Lincoln Park Speedway-USAC Rain Date
Is this race going to count in Sprint Week points? Or will it be just a regular USAC show? And I apologize if this has been covered, I looked and couldn't find an answer.

Re: Lincoln Park Speedway-USAC Rain Date
Sprint week points will count.
|
Like I said, this is one BIG MESS.....it should end at Haubstadt like it was scheduled to.
Now is Kokomo not gonna run either? And what is gonna happen to Farmer City trying to run Sun night? Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Lincoln Park Speedway-USAC Rain Date

In years past Kokomo had raced on the Sunday after the last sprintweek show, but had poor car counts and crowds since a lot of sprint teams and fans had exhausted their racing budget. A business decision that will allow a Sunday conclusion to sprintweek without conflicting events.

I was told at the gate my ticket was good only for Sunday night's rescheduled race and no other date. I was not happy as I could not attend but after getting back to the motel I discovered that my recycled paper ticket was a soggy wad in my pocket and could not have been identified anyway so I'll chalk $ 50.00 up to experience and go on down the road. I've spilled more beer than that over my lifetime!

Re: Lincoln Park Speedway-USAC Rain Date
It will be tough for me to get to Putnamville for the rain date, not impossible. tough. I think what they did was fair. I also spoke to Joe Spiker at Bloomington last night. and he more than explained why they needed to postpone. Nobody likes when it rains, but what can you really do about it.

Re: Lincoln Park Speedway-USAC Rain Date
We won't be able to go back to Putnamville Sunday evening, as well.
At least we got to see hot laps at a track we had never seen before. A selfish point of view on our part would have been for management to run the track back in, if possible, and run the show. That clearly wasn't feasible for all concerned. We hope we can get back to LPS sometime and see a great show but it wasn't in the cards this time around. As the old saying goes, "you pays your money, you takes your chances". |
