When I was there a week ago a fan told me they was going to extend the track out a little and make it wider. They claim they wanted some late model races. It looked like to me they did extend the seating out past the track on turn 4 side of the front stretch so maybe its true. The rumor was a small half mile and they was just taking it out a little further on the turn 3 and 4 side. This was going to be done after the season is over but like everything its just a rumor. I hope they leave it alone its fine is the way it is.

Bloomington, instead of being measured at a 1/4 mile on the inside (three feet up from the tires) it is actually measured at a 1/4 mile around the absolute top of the track.

I parked down near the pile two weeks ago. It was in fact red clay. Wasn't enough of it to make a half mile tho lol. Hopefully they just make it a little wider. Not many people have enough money to consistently run a half mile anymore,

That pile of dirt at the north end is pulverized dirt that Mike sells. Nothing more, nothing less. Hope that clears the confusion

I heard they are gonna make double jumps on the front stretch and a wicked set of whoops down the back stretch

The Superstock race was one of the best races of any kind I have seen all year. Two and three wide the whole feature. Great show.

Stock cars always get their way eventually. They will change it for them, unfortunately. I've seen it done at many a race track.

A lot running tracks at high school and universities are 400 meters these days or 437.4 yards. A quarter mile is 440 yards. Back in the old days there used to be a track event that was the 440 yard dash which was one lap. When I set in the stands at some "quarter mile" auto race tracks the track doesnt appear to be as large as running tracks and big enough to hold a football field in the middle. But that is just my perception. Would be interesting if tracks were measured around the inside with a measuring wheel and know what they actually are. We all enjoy the races regardless of size and differences but would still be fun to know the length. |

In talking about race track measurements, I once heard that they were measured 9' off of the inside "rail". A friend of mine who raced horses many, many years ago, said that was how horse tracks were measured. Many auto race tracks were once horse racing facilities. Don't know if that is how auto racing tracks started out being measured but it kind of made sense to me. Then again, what do I know. I am just a fan.:3: |

I heard Jimmy Hoffa is buried under there.
