Hey everyone... there is a petition going around to put Indiana back on central time. There are many good reasons we should be on CST. Please visit this website and sign the petition. http://www.hoosiersforcentraltime.com

The official sunrise today in Indianapolis was 6:22. I don't need the sun coming up at 5:22.

One vote for Daylight Savings Time.

Used to hate getting there one hour too early and leaving a hour later. Put the whole state on the same time, No matter which it is. Sheesh.

I totally agree; I am a member of the organization that is promoting this, but haven't been active. My own highly unofficial sampling of opinion of race fans seems to favor Central time.

Think you misunderstood. We are already on Daylight Savings Time, but most of the state observes Eastern time while a minority observes Central time. Geographically, Indiana is a Central state, not an Eastern one.

I bet if you did this at a golf course you would get 0 signatures. I know who cares about golfers but I bet the golf courses would fight as hard against a change as race fans fight for it.

I live in Indiana and work in Ohio. Gotta be working by 5:30 am... Thats early enough for me. 1 vote to keep EST.

You are right. I think golfers are the only reason it was done. I already signed one. I miss racing under the lights. Do we really need it daylight at 9:30 at night? In this heat wave it makes the hottest part of the day around 6 o clock. If your on this site you should be against it.

I would rather it be daylight at 5:30 in the morning than 10:00 at night. If you go on the site and read negative effects this has on children alone you might think differently.

This is done for alot of people. Kids getting on a school bus in the morning, remember this starts when school is still going and after it starts in the fall. Alot of sporting goods makers want daylight in the evening. Softball players-golf-water craft-bike riders. Sorry to say they would out number the dirt racers. Also for people with bad eye sight problems.

:8: Being around education I understand golf, bikes and ball leagues, but
I'm getting ready for 9 pm drivers education so we can actually use the lights. In the fall and spring it would make a lot of difference in delays and cancellations.
Place me in the central for many reasons, not just racen.

Guess you dont work then because pushing it back an hour makes one less hour of sleep before work. If you think it will make track conditions better just look at Kokomo or Bloomington the last 2 weeks(TSS is already on CDT or I would use that as an example too) if you work hard and know what you are doing it doesnt matter about the extra hour of daylight.

If these tracks are more worried about getting you an extra hour of sleep than they are putting on a good show for the fans, maybe we will re-think our trip to Sprint-Week !!! 2500 mile round trip and a couple grand, is alittle much for rubbered up, follow the leader, 25 MPH around the bottom !!!! :44:

My point is Pine is that a good track and a good show isnt about an hours difference in start time. Its in the expertise of the track preparer. you do what you want with your $ but if you get a rubbered up track dont blame DST cause I've seen good tracks and bad tracks since DST and the reason behind them all is the guy sitting on the tractor not the guy sitting in the statehouse as many here seem to believe.

I understand that Hoov, but I've heard numerous times (don't know how true it is) that the track USAC was running wanted to re-do the track for the B-Main or the A-Main and USAC said no. It happened here for the Eastern Swing (So it was said). I think you guys have USAC and the Indiana promotors so brainwashed into getting home at 10:00, that their afraid to do anything that will prolong the program, with the possibilities of losing fans !!!! Even though EVERYBODY at the track knows the track is wore out and needs alittle TLC !!! SLEEP IS OVER-RATED !!!

Last year I worked all during sprint week and went to all but one race and it really sucked. This year I am giving up the $ and taking the week off. There has to be a happy medium there somewhere. I am beginning to think the type(and number of classes) of support class you run has a lot to do with it to. The hornets at Bloomington the last few weeks running just before the sprint cars were perfect. They took a track that was beginning to take rubber and chopped it up better than any equipment they had to work it.

Kinda like our CST down here in Evansville, as I gain an hour on the way back from most Indiana race tracks. And the sunsets at abt 8:30 here nowadays. Thanks guys!

...and it's only selfish on my part, but we lose an hour crossing the state line coming from Illinois to anywhere but Haubstadt. I'm still kinda goofed up at watchin' Sprint Car B-Mains in the sunlight.
I thought the whole EST/CST change was for the farmers of Indiana....so now it's about the kids? and no disrespect to my pal Hoover, but racing under the sun is still almost like a day race (at most tracks).
And before he comes on here and breaks my balls, ASQ will ask why I'm worried about it anyway...:5::32:

It has been proven that schools in the Eastern time zone in Indiana have more delays and closings due to weather than those in Central zones. That extra hour of sunlight in the morning makes a big difference.

Our man Mitch originally said that it would help all of our industry it is based on New York City. Kinda miss getting home from Eldora almost before I left there. When I was a kid we sprang forward and fell back according to that little burg to the north called Chicago.

I always figured Indiana should be on Central time, due to the large Hoosier farm economy and the AG markets being in Chicago. I work in Indiana on Eastern time and live in the Central time area, but it is really not a big deal. At least it is consistent all year. Before Indiana started moving their clocks, half the year was the same and half the year was one hour different. That was confusing.

I'm all for Indiana being on central time. I love the night racing when it's dark around the time heat races start. I also miss that hour I gained leaving work early on Friday.

I'm all for central time. I hate baking in the sun and watching day races that are suppose to be night races. It should be almost dark by heat race time.

Daylight saving time been on and off since 1914 WWI
During WWII it was implemented all year long. I belive they called in War Time. The main reason was to save oil. Now days there is a 100 reasons to have it and 100 not to. Let your vote be counted one way or another.
