Re: Lawrenceburg
Probably one of the most poor run shows I have been to in a long time.... Track crew could'nt seem to get it together and the wreckers were very slow to get to the scene. Most fans around where I was sitting felt the same way. After starting the season off so good with getting the show done at a decent time, this sure seemed to be the burg of old. I hope you guys get it together for next week. BTW Get rid of them dang tires when cars keep hittting them. The tire inbetween 3 and 4 must of got hit 6 times thoughout all the classes...

Re: Lawrenceburg
Had a great time. Another within a car length sprint finish. Two and a half inches of rain make for a difficult track

Re: Lawrenceburg
Nice to see Ray Schaike get the plaque. Should have been presented during intermission so we could have had more time to hear his stories. A great guy.
What was the deal with the turn 3-4 tire marker? Couldn't move it in any? Friend from out of town couldn't believe the slow line-up attempts and what he called the "flag happy flagman". Yellow for a purestock with a smoking axle? Appears to me that control on the track has been taken away from the flagman and given to what they call "Race Control". Good race. Looked like KT had something till the grenade popped. |
Re: Lawrenceburg
When you have a driver that will not move to the position they are told it will make for a long race. On the yellow flag for a "smoking rearend" well when the rearend is about to come out from under the car I would rather see a yellow flag and not a red and someone getting hurt... Just my thought. All in all some good racing.

Re: Lawrenceburg
Nice coolish evening.
25 cars knocked down to 24 almost immesdiately when something went amiss with the #99 that Joss Moffatt was driving for the evening. Joss's regular ride is in the process of being put together so it was unavailable for the evening. To top off his weekend Joss took over the Brad Stevens ride for the feature only to pull it off the track after a handfull of laps. Chad Boesflug had them covered, or so is seemed for a while. Kevin Thomas Jr., who seems to have more talent than luck, made his case for the win, looked like he would follow through, but then the motor quit. I don't think anyone had anything for KT but luck just wouldn't go his way. Justin Grant survived a near miss not of his own doing early on only to get near the front and hang around for a while untill opportunity knocked and he passes Chad with just a few laps to go. Chad would rally back but fell just a car length short. After many good showings that ended in disappointment it's good to see Justin finally get to victory lane at Lawrenceburg. It was great to see Shawn Westerfeld suited up and racing after being laid up for several weeks because a serious medical issue. Shawn tagged the tail after an early race mishap but brought it home nicely in 4th when it was all all over. Brad Stevens and Dwayne Spille joined in the fun for the first time in a while. It's good to see the 'burg's local base of drivers and cars growing again. Good runs by Adam Cruea and Justin Owen last night as they continue to gain more experience. Joining Shawn Westerfeld on the list of people present that have been on the mend is Bob Gatten who came up from Florida to watch Chad race and LeeAnn Clemons, one of the lovlier members of section A. Hope all gets healthy and stays healthy for a long time. On my soapbox. From my vantage point the tire in question might have been too close to the track. I could be wrong though. The other issue was lining up for the last restart. I wish all the drivers would have gotten into the proper position much quicker than they did and if there was a question by any of the drivers they should have pulled off and inquired as to why and where. That last yellow took so long I was beginning to think Josef Newgarden's IndyCar needed to be towed off the track.:19: It was great to be at the 'burg after a week layoff. Can't wait for next week and beyond. |
Re: Lawrenceburg
Another fun night at the track made even better by a visit from good friend, Bob Gatten (Chad Boespflug's grandpa), up from Florida and looking good after recovery from a recent major health scare. :6:
Also GREAT surprise when Leann Clemons (big time fan of Joss Moffatt, Chad Boespflug, Andrew Elson, and anyone named Clemons), also on the mend from some 6 weeks ago ICU sheet time, joined the Section "A" residents with hubby Todd. :6: She even brought cookies (in sprinter #98 colors) and Bugles for everyone. :9: Had to be impressed that Bob and Monica Clauson risked their pristine reputations to join us suspects for the evening, despite the Charles Nungester warnings. :32: It's clear to me that Chuck wishes he could move to "A" but he just doesn't quite have what it takes.......just yet.;) I admit I don't know all factors involved, but seems to me that a black flag or cessation of scoring for a lapper who wouldn't follow lineup instructions might well have saved my buddies, Landon Simon and Jason Soudrette, from running out of fuel. Funny how few bad decisions we make from high up in "A". ;):14:;) :22: |
Re: Lawrenceburg
Not going into the a big review, The others covered it pretty good.
It takes more than one hand to count over the past couple years the times Grant has been the class of the field and didn't win for whatever reason, Including last years points championship race where Boespflug beat him after Grant started on the pole and had a lap three flat. Westerfeld, Wow, What a come back run! I told dad to keep a eye on Soudrette, Told him he drives the wheels off and by lap 15 he was in the top 7 after starting way back. Took Elson a bit to get back into Burg Mode but recovered for a top five! Welcome back Champ. Moffat, I seen him mention Browns Car on the net but wasn't sure who it was until it came out. Haven't seen it in a few years.. Like I said, Me and Dad had a lot of fun in a difficult time in our lives. Today and tomorrow is Funeral Home and Cemetary's. Take care all. |
Re: Lawrenceburg
chaike was the best flagman around. bar nun. and yes he has a hell of a lot of stories as i've been lucky enough to hear a few. he is a friend of the family and lives right down the hill.
