Haubstadt or Kokomo???
Trying to decide which way to go today. Are all the heavy hitters headed South or North?
|
Probably south for the kiss show, but either way will be pretty good I'd imagine.

Re: Haubstadt or Kokomo???
Kokomo is 2 hours for me... Haubstadt is four hours.....
I'm heading to Haubstadt. Spoke with some guys at Putnamville last night and they were headed down for the KISS race. Darland and Stanbrough included. |

Re: Haubstadt or Kokomo???
Kokomo for me...Great racing, smiles instead of frowns, and home by 11 to watch all the racing on TV I can stand makes it a no-brainer. Plus, with 2K to win and $200 to start, not everyone will head to Haubstadt.

Id say which ever is closer. DD and Ballou will probably be at tri State and anyone else running for the Kiss Series.
No matter who's there though, You'll get a show at Kokomo if you can handle the full cavity search at the gate. |

TSS will have most of the heavy hitters I ASSUME, but Kokomo ALWAYS is a great show and will have plenty of talent. Some of the "local guys" around Indiana are just as tough as the USAC guys and/or the guys running from a title. Be safe and enjoy the races!!! Thanks to all the military as we celebrate this holiday weekend. I have a paid day off tomorrow and I owe it all to the brave men and women of the UNITED STATES MILITARY.

Re: Haubstadt or Kokomo???
If i go anywhere tonight it will be speedrome for the 90 min figure 8 race, since i would be dropping the wife off downtown at the hospital if i go so she can be with the twins, I would already be almost there. just a 5 min drive from down town to the track out on the east side. But with the weather being so hot not sure, but since we need to go to the hospital anyway today might just do it. hmm decisions decisions

Re: Haubstadt or Kokomo???
My, my...Some people are overly sensitive.
This is the reason I rarely post in this forum. You can't even respond to a simple question without getting flamed by somebody for it. This place has always been a haven for such behavior. How sad. DM |
Re: Haubstadt or Kokomo???
Well, that was fun. Just got done with a tete-to-tete with "Rpracing1" about his out of line comments after I simply offered an opinion about where I was heading and why (e.g., the statement, "Kokomo for me..."). I didn't appreciate him saying, "we don't need you anyway", as if he speaks for anyone. Somehow, this genius took it upon himself to be offended, when I simply answered the question with where I was headed. When I took him to task on his personal attack of me, he did what all Internet cowards do...Threw a hissy fit and blocked me. Good riddance.
For the record, THIS is why I don't post anything but notifications on this board. My words are clear in everything I write. I have a strong command of the English language and I am deliberate in the words I utilize, and yet still, some people cannot comprehend what is actually being said. Ridiculous. It's the old adage, "Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience." That is all. DM - Feels his Intelligence Quotient dipped 10 points just by trying to address that imbecile |

Seriously? I guess today is another day of babysitting emotions.
It's probably the comment "smiles instead of frowns" that started the whole "overly sensitive" issue and that comment probably accomplished exactly what it was intended to do. Send a few folks into spin cycle. Are some of the members on this board overly sensitive at times... YES! Do some of the members try to make people overly sensitive... YES! How can I fix that... I can't. C'mon fellas. Quit wearing the tight panties and move on.;):D |

Re: Haubstadt or Kokomo???
the racing is great at both tracks,I prefer TSS for several reasons...... location(I live 3.5 hrs closer to TSS),I can carry in food and beverage if want and the reserve seats are just way more comfortable.thats just my opinion and I will not be upset if everyone doesnt agree with me.:32:

Re: Haubstadt or Kokomo???
I attended TSS and just watched video of the Kokomo main. Both shows were worth the money and time.
I hope everyone enjoyed whichever track(s) they picked this weekend. With racing Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Memorial weekend in Indiana is truly something special! |
Re: Haubstadt or Kokomo???
Race fans across the USA, maybe around the world, would love to have our troubles here in Indiana...a CHOICE of race tracks to go to on a "SUNDAY" night, Good God! For myself, i made it back across Georgetown Road to my Speedway mansion and passed out under a lawn sprinkler till i rehydrated. My suggestion to those in doubt, clone yourself and go to both, you won't be disapointed at either track. THANKS to all the brave track owners and promoters out there for giving us this dilemma, and thanks to Bill Gardner for being the funniest guy on here, see you at the races, bob:8:

Re: Haubstadt or Kokomo???
Hey Bill Gardner, I will repeat again...I don't post in this forum any longer (save for informational posts) because it is a haven for the uninformed to attack those of us actually working IN the industry. It's a waste of time and completely counterproductive. However, when I simply offer an opinion, and YOU allow someone to disparage me for simply responding to the question posed, YOU condone this behavior.
I've spent 29 years covering this sport and have outlasted ALL my colleagues to become the "old guard". There are so few of us professional auto racing videographers left in this sport, and that is because there is not any real money in what we do. We aren't getting rich here. But, I keep trudging on because of the love of the sport. And, when I get some hilljack from Southern Indiana coming against me simply for offering a harmless opinion, I won't stand idly by, I will address the man head on. Sorry, but I don't need you to handle my business for me, I can handle myself against any and all detractors with the greatest of ease. That includes retired yard utility salesman that are oblivious to being the blight of their family's good name. BTW, for the record, I saw the race at Haubstadt on Jackslash.com and it was fantastic with a stellar field. Tri-State Speedway can and does put on great racing. That someone took umbrage with me for stating that I was choosing Kokomo over Haubstadt (and why) is just plain ridiculous. PS - Bill, in terms of your underwear reference, I'm going commando here. Come on Tim, you might not have a choice of sprint car tracks to go to, but in the winter, us Hoosiers don't get to enjoy all those snowmobile races either. Look on the bright side. And for others who are suppose to be enjoying this site, stop taking yourselves so seriously. This site, THANKS to Bill Gardner, has been a godsend with the lose of Speed Sport News, it's the only thing keeping all of us race fans in the loop. It is NOT meant for all of your little p*ssing contests. Everyone has opinions, and i think Bill will agree with me that they all have a place here, but when you add in the snipes is when you open yourself for criticism and abuse. Everyone just take a deep breath and get back to the thought of how much we all enjoy this sport, and don't tick off DAD (Bill), he'll pull this car over and whip all yur butts! bob:31:
