Think the speed was 214, not 241. Still a solid effort that gets the car in the show. They can work on some speed during the week.

If Fisher didn't have any backup cars, I imagine she just told Clauson "turn in 4 laps".

Can anyone put together a more different three drivers for the Last Row Party than Bryan Clauson, Simona de Silvestro, and Jean Alesi? :3:

Happy that Lotus shipped a couple quicker engines hot from the factory (only in de Silvestro's car for qualies, notice the speed difference between her and Alesi). Like to see both cars run the whole race instead of get black flagged 15 laps in.

I'm sure Bryan's elated to be in the show, yet disappointed to be 10 mph slower than he ran in quals. I'm also sure they played it super safe today, and if practice is any indication, he should have a competitive car for race day. Congrats to BC and to the whole SFHR team for really thrashing to get the car repaired. Now go get 'em! By the way...Tim, you look pretty good on the tube. :6:

Pretty sure they ran a race setup today with all the downforce back on after trimming out for yesterday. You dont get famous in qualifying......

The leaders are going to look like they're going 241 when they repeatedly lap the Lotus cars which will barely be going 200.

I really hope they get Bryan's ride sorted out and up to at least the speeds he was running pre-wreck.

It was saddening to see Sarah's reaction immediately after Brian hit the wall.

I wouldn't take the drop in speed as a worry. There was no need to push anything given there would be no bumping. Also, the team had to really play it safe with equipment. I'm sure the car had much more if it was needed. I don't blame them for tightening the car down (put all the down force you can dial into it) and just running the 4 laps. Running over 220 wasn't going to do much given what happened. Servia and Carpenter don't crash, but did, happens. They are vets so their teams weren't as conservative. SFHR is smart, just get it in.

BC will have no issues with race pace at all. On the other hand, his neighbors in the last row will be asked to park not too far into the event. Those engines just don't have any power. Have felt sorry for them all month. It's not like they are two bums off the street they stuck in a car. The car only goes as fast it can, can't push the peddle through the floor.

At least he can say he got to go to The Last Row Party once in his career.
:)

Congratulations Bryan and the entire SFHR team. The crowd in the Northwest Vista on Saturday was screaming and cheering on every lap of his qualification attempt. The loud groan you heard was on his last lap when it swapped ends and tagged the wall.

Glad to see he wasn't injured and also happy to see the crew able to put it back together for another qualifying attempt on Sunday. Bob, Monica, Tim and the rest of the family have every right to be proud of that young man. All of the short track fans have been begging for this type of opportunity. I am proud to say that one of ours is in the big show. My hope is that this will provide other qualified short track stars the opporunity to join in down the road. Give her hell Bryan.:6:

I think I read on Facebook where they were running close to where they were by the end of the day yesterday. From the sound of it they didn't have much time to sort out the 'fixed' car. Sarah said they sent him out there with a ton of downforce just to get him in the show.

Who knows. Maybe in hindsight the car stepping out on him may not have been a bad thing. It's a harsh lesson but if he learned something about the car...

I'm just glad he's in the show. My wife's brother-in-law ended up with an extra ticket so it looks like I will be up there on race day cheering him on.:8:

I was so surprised at, and pleased with, the crowd. We were sitting in the Pit Road Terrace and the crowd was quiet for the first nine qualifiers. As soon as Bryan was announced, a roar went up from the crowd. It was clear that most of the crowd there were SFHR Racing/BC fans. After he hit the wall, people started leaving. It was obvious who a lot of them were there to see.

Up in Stand E on Pole Day, the three biggest cheers from the crowd were for Tony Kanaan, Josef Newgarden, and Bryan Clauson. It was pretty neat to hear that. There were a lot of devastated people when he hit the wall. I can't remember the last time I heard a crowd at IMS as silent as they were when that happened.

It's clear to me that many people like Sarah Fisher and her race team. It's great that she picked two talented young Americans in Clauson and Newgarden to represent her team. In a short time, these two have become crowd favorites. Good luck to the SFHR team. I'll be cheering them both on next Sunday.
