What happened?

Re: Wade Sieler
We were at Farmington Mo Racing and just got loaded when we got a call that Wade was being airlifted to Barnes St. Louis. We arrived about the same time he was landing. We left around 2:30 am and he was awake and pretty sore. The trauma doctor came in and worked with him for awhile and said things looked positive but were going to keep him under observation, the scan that they had got back all come back with no fractures but I don't know which ones had come back. I will try and update later today. When I walked in he asked if I knew where any good rollers were so at least he is thinking straight. Alex Shanks

Wade Seiler Update
Visited Wade @ 5:30 pm Sunday. Concussion, bruised lungs, multiple sore
joints. Doctor indicated that he may get to go home Monday (May 6). illiNOISE, car flipped violently (nose / tail) down the better part of the backstretch at Clay County Speedway. Thank you to the Clay County Speedway EMS and track workers for the professionalism of Wade's extraction and medical care. Korey, tell your dad how much we appreciate him assisting the rescue crew. (He was up on the tail tank sharing his sprint car expertise to get Wade out safely) Thank you Craig Budde for helping direct the multitude of volunteers in getting the car (front sheared off forward the radiator) loaded into the trailer and strapped down. Thank you Shane, Alex and Roger for making the long tow to meet Wade at Barnes Hospital. Dave Whisler |
Re: Wade Seiler Update
Does anyone know what broke? They way at turned right at the wall didn't look like over correction, it looked like something in the front end broke?

WHen he was flipping, he hit the 11 car, went in and hit the seat, luckily that kid had a new seat that protected his head. A hell of a way to start the first night in a sprint car for the 11. I was watching the leaders, but I thought the 11 was behind him down the front stretch in to 1?
---------- Post added at 8:26 AM ---------- Previous post was at 8:12 AM ---------- Just read on Facebook, that he isn't sure how the car turned right. They are looking for anyone that has video of the race so they can see what happened. |
Re: Wade Sieler
Our first suspicion is sudden deflation of the right rear tire. The throttle was wide open when it
snapped to the right. The left rear may have driven the car sideways. The 7s is still in the trailer. Everything is pretty chewed up. I am not sure that we will find a definitive cause. Wade reads this forum regularly and appreciates everyone's concern. Thank you, Dave Whisler |
Re: Wade Sieler
Anytime a car takes a tumble like he did, concerns everyone around. Fans love to see sprint cars, the speed thrills all.
I for one said from day one that I will make the drivers feel safe when racing at the speedway. We never want to see this happen to any driver, but sprint car racing, you know sooner or later you will have one take a tumble. I have been pretty fortunate to get thru 5 complete weeks with no sprinter taking a roll till this weekend. I am also fortunate, even if it is a big bill at months end, to be able to have the first responders trackside. They did a nice job Saturday night taking care of Wade. For what it is worth I have posted on the web that we will do a "pass a helmet" this Saturday night to collect a few dollars for the family. In addition portion of the proceeds from the 50/50 will go to the family. Spoke with a family member Sunday am, she gave me an update and said thanks for calling and will have Wade call when he is up to speaking, so till then I will patiently wait for his call....................... Thanks to all that support the track, Kevin Bayer |
Update
Monday May 7th 6:30pm
Wade is home from the hospital. He was diagnosed with a fractured sternum this morning and still suffers from a pretty stout headache caused by the concussion. Recliner time and good night's rest in his own bed should speed his recovery. |
Re: Update
Great to hear! Good luck on a speedy recovery.:6:

Re: Update
Got the phone call from Wade about 3:30 est, today
he asked me "how am I doing" I replied, "heck never mine me, how are you and good to hear from ya" after speaking to him for a short while, he seemed to be ok, but we all know the toll this takes on a driver, mentally, physically and financailly (I know not a good speller) but the main thing he has a positive attitude that he will be back sometime this summer behind the wheel of another 7s.......... I was asked on his behalf to see if anyone has a video, at this point nothing has come forward, but if you do please do so. He honestly thinks something went wrong with car going down the back straight, it shot right and it all went down from there. Driver Nick Hale also said he was behind him and he said the car just shot right, with no sign of anything. I asked Wade if he recalls the tumble, oh ya I remember he said, I asked about what he recalls after that, he said he rememebers after it stopped tumbling that he reached up to turn the fuel off, then the lights went out, he recalls hearing/seeing guys around the car helping to get him out. I asked one more question, how about the helicopter ride..........? there were many more questions, but......... Lets say, he will try to be there Sat to fill everyone in on his progress and hear the rest of the story........thru an interview with us at the speedway, Thanks Wade, Clay County Speedway fans will love to see ya Saturday, NO PRESSURE!
