Dont forget he wont be running the Hoosier 100 or the night before the 500. Still worth going to them though

I just wanted to let everyone know that Bryan will in fact be participating in the Hoosier Hundred driving the RW Motorsports / Curb Agajanian 17.

Thanks !

Quick trivia question for everyone.

Who was the last driver to race in both the Hoosier Hundred and the Indy 500 in the same year?

Trivia Question: Who was the last driver to run the fairgrounds, then the 500 the next day?

I think Brian doing that is simply awesome! Maybe he can influence some of the wine and cheese drivers to try a sprint car!

Johnny Rutherford?

Probably Jack Hewitt was the last to run the Hulman 100 and the Indy 500 in the same year and before that Rich Vogler did it for sure!

Nope. Believe it or not, it actually happened in more recent times.

Jack Hewitt raced in both in 1998, but he is not the last one to do it.

Nope, but he did both in 1998 as well. Finished in 9th in both races as well.

Donnie Beechler raced in both the Hoosier Hundred and the Indy 500 in 2000. He finished 24th in the Hoosier Hundred and 12th in the Indy 500. But there is one little difference. These two races were not run on the same weekend that particular year because the Hoosier Hundred was postponed due to rain on May 26 and was rescheduled for September 22.

Richie, didn't Ed Carpenter do the double in 2000 as well?

His rookie year at the Indy 500 was in 2004.

I see. Not sure but I think he did, however, win the pole for the Hoosier 100 in 2000 or 2001.

Year 2000, he won the pole and led the first 80 laps before blowing out a tire.

Re: BC's Bandwagon

I believe Ol' Jack took a pretty good tumble in turn 1 in the '98 Hoosier 100. And, I think that same '98 HH got rained out at lap 35 or 36 and was called a complete race even though they hadn't made it to 51 miles.

Hewitt was involved in a wreck in which his left front wheel was collapsed and Chuck Leary drove over him and went for a big tumble. I do not recall Hewitt getting upside down. However, the night before at 16th Street Speedway, Hewitt did take a fairly big flip in the feature.

Now the last driver to WIN both the Hoosier Hundred and the Indy 500 in the same year was Al Unser in 1971. What I would give to see BC accomplish that feat! :6:

Sorry Tim I had thought he said on Don's show there was no open wheel after Dodge City.

I humbly stand corrected. :11: Sometimes my recall mode loses some accuracy with the passing of time.
