Plymouth Speedway Sprint cars
What is the purse for Saturday night? I remember reading somewhere that is was $1500 to win $200 to start....is this correct and is this a set purse no matter how many cars show up?
Thanks! |
Re: Plymouth Speedway Sprint cars
I was looking on there website under dirt payoff, The Sprints are $1500 to win and $200 to start. And talking to some of the asphalt guys they pay what they say!
|
You are correct 1) $1500.00 2) $800.00 3) $700.00 for the rest of the payout check out under "Asphalt Payout" at www.plymouthspeedway.net.

Re: Plymouth Speedway Sprint cars
You are half right it is $1500, but it is under dirt payoff not asphalt payoff on website.

Re: Plymouth Speedway Sprint cars
From the video of the 600 mini test, the track does not look to be that big. Anyone know the size of the track?
|
Re: Plymouth Speedway Sprint cars
It is longer straights than Macon tighter corners 3/10ths of a mile on the bottom.
|
Track looks narrow to me on the youtube video, will be interesting with 20 cars on it.

are they actually going to start 20?

Re: Plymouth Speedway Sprint cars
I would call Rob Goodman see where he is race director.
|
Re: Plymouth Speedway Sprint cars
The track is wider than it appears in the videos. The testing cars were staying away from the bottom down the straights and away from the top in the corners. Once the entire track gets run in properly, the track surface will be apparent. Drivers have between 50-60' feet to race.

Sorry, it's gonna be hard to break some of these "Asphalt" habits.....but looking forward to it....
Hope to see some good racing as practice was really good yesterday and the track is smooth. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Plymouth Speedway Sprint cars
Went to the track last night and I see they put up 16 more lights on the front stretch on top of what they already had. Should light the place up. Looks like Ed Kennedy is doing alot to the place very clean. I have been to his water park the Daytona Lagoon in Daytona Beach Fla.,and it is a first class place. Looks like he is doing the same with Plymouth Speedway. Can't wait to see Travis Pastrana host the the Nitrocross supercross race there Oct 6 & 7.

Re: Plymouth Speedway Sprint cars
Here at the track watching them run the grader and with all the rain, there is still dust blowing off the track. They are laying down water tonight!! Pass the word about Saturday night 8 PM.

Re: Plymouth Speedway Sprint cars
Anyone know who's doing the track prep?
|
Re: Plymouth Speedway Sprint cars
Jim Boggs that did Warsaw Speedway Track Prep for years. They were preping the track last night and laying down water.
|

I am at the track now. It looks great. It is D-shape so drivers will be challenged. Track prep continues as I type. Nice and sunny.

Re: Plymouth Speedway Sprint cars
Any GOOD ideas on how to get more sprints there? Cant imagine spending that much time and money and not get much of a return on a investment?
|
Re: Plymouth Speedway Sprint cars
aug 4th show will be co-sanctioned with MTS sprints this should make for a larger field of cars...
|
10 sprints were on hand. They put on a great show during the feature. I think those that are worried about a tight track need to only take a look at the YouTube vids. There is room to race and lots of bite. The drivers I talked to really like the track. I saw nothing but smiles after the races. The crowd was good and they were cheering during all the features.
It was great to see the dirt flying. I want to thank the race teams and fans for attending. The low car count didn't take away from the excitement. I can't wait for the next show! Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Plymouth Speedway Sprint cars
How were car counts in the other classes?

Re: Plymouth Speedway Sprint cars
With only 10 cars showing it was still a good show! Cottle got the place figured out quickly. Seemed the Walker car was getting off the corners much better than the others. If it wasn't for the late caution I think Shane would of lapped all but Ligouri! Gald to see they paid out the purse as advertised. Good show Plymouth Speedway!:8:

Re: Plymouth Speedway Sprint cars
I think the next time there will be more cars and people.I thinks alot of people were afraid that the track was too small. But it was a good show!! I am sure when Smoke comes in on June the 16th for the SOD show they will have cars and people. I was also wondering if they will get more 600's than mods? The USAC Asphalt/Dirt midget show should be a awesome event. Heard they are having a big party after the asphalt race Friday night. Good to see Powr i is off that weekend so maybe the pits will be full.. It was an awesome show. Hats off to Plymouth Speedway for bringing dirt racing back to Northern Indiana.

Re: Plymouth Speedway Sprint cars
The SOD Show should be a Wild One! Tony should put on one HELL OF A SHOW TOO!!:32:

Re: Plymouth Speedway Sprint cars
They Are going to work on getting the track smoother. Jim Boggs that use to prepare Warsaw for years did the track. The clay they have is awesome. 0 tire wear at the end so the place won't rubber down. I saw Joe Gaerte there talking with them the other night. And they are going to make a couple small adjustments to the track. I asked them about how many sprints they would start and Joe said probably 16. I agree the Plymouth Palooza USAC Midget weekend should be a great weekend. Save the Date July 6&7!
