She sure is. It's on the Eldora Speedway Website at: www.eldoraspeedway.com

Maybe it has something to do with her Sprint Cup boss owning the Big E?

openwheel44 3/14/12 4:53 PM

How much practice time you think the "boss" will get her so she doesn't look like a total fool?

i guess she wont have to race her way in.......

Re: Danica in the Prelude

What a waste of a entry, but of course Boss Man has to make more money off her! Really he does need to put her on dirt alone that is so she can attempt to learn how to control a loose race car!

Hope she wins, don't understand why people are always bashing on her and hating on her. Is she the best driver? Absolutely not. Is she the best female race car driver in the history of auto racing? Most likely. It's a story. It generates interest. Even people watching just for the sake of people bashing her is still exposure and attention to the sport. Best of luck to her.

Re: Danica in the Prelude

don't think there's enough practice time if she starts practice next week ! She has a hard time keeping it going in the right direction on asphalt ! Maybe he should put her in a sprint car for a few weeks but keep everyone else off the track and out of harms way.:8:

Somebody better start making a few spare cars. She wads them up alot.
She is going to bring the take the hands off the steering to dirt racing.

Don't understand, the problem some folks have with Danica, she puts on her suit just like anyone else, and as far as I'm concerned, she's as good as at least a third of them that put on suits, I've raced with a lot of women drivers, and I'd say 90% of them are better than some of the guys that were on the track at the same time, anyone think they can do better, put your suit on, and buckle up! Bob!:)

DAD 3/14/12 6:18 PM

Re: Danica in the Prelude

Put her in a midget first. After about 3 days in a midget under different track conditions, that big old stock will seem kind of lazy and laid back to her, and much easier to stay on top of. She should have a pretty good coach.

Honest Dad himself:6::6:

She can't do any worse than Kyle Busch or Joey Logano has over the years in their attempts.

Danica: "Wait... you push the clutch IN to go???"

I had no problem with Danica when she came into the sport until she did the swimsuit shot with her straddling the nose of an Indy Car, from then on I knew her main focus was on marketing herself, and her racing would be secondary, and IMO she has proved to have done just that.

If you want to go big time racing, that's what you have to do. Racing skills alone do not get you to the big time.

As for her "posing," I fail to understand how that's any different than Carl Edwards posing on the front covers of Mens Health or ESPN.

If you want to make millions and live the good life, your going to have to exploit every opportunity and every angle... Danica has done precisely that.

I agree, She is a Marketing machine and the way she has done it has opened up alot of doors that may have never been opened before.

wannaracebad 3/14/12 6:43 PM

What did she race before Indy and nascrap?? Surely she didn't just go from nothing to where she is now did she? I have no Idea just wondering.

I dont have a problem with Danica, I have a problem with the media shoving her down our throat.

treecitytornado 3/14/12 6:51 PM

She was racing Go-Karts in Junior Restricted (Gold) at the Major Taylor Velodrome in 1995. I was running my first year in the Adult class, so I didn't get to run against her, but I still got the program that has her name on it.

She's going for the trifecta...

She's stomped her feet and thrown tantrums at paved ovals.

She's stomped her feet and thrown tantrums at road courses.

Now, she'll be able to say she stomped her feet and threw a tantrum at a dirt track.

wannaracebad 3/14/12 7:04 PM

Restrictor plate go karts to Indy car, really????

She makes Dale Jr's popularity in NASCAR seem like he's Dave Blaney on a national news level. I know Dave Blaney is a WoO champ. I can't blame anyone who is cashing in on this. Kyle Busch hasn't done too bad at the Prelude.

I won't bother watching it, solely on the oversaturation of her, we can't forget it really is a NASCAR race. I think she isn't any worse and even better then some of the rent a racer at Joe Gibbs and a few of the other decent N'wide cars and drivers.

Yeah, they shouldn't let her compete in that all important racing event. I mean, why do they need to try anything that might raise more money for the Feed the Children charity? :17:

Re: Danica in the Prelude

I am actually excited to see Danica do this. A lot of people on this message board question her true talent. This will be a good test of her true talent. No spotters, no crew chief in her ear, just her and the car. We all know that the guys who came from the dirt do well in this race. Smoke, Blaney, Kayne, Boyer. However, over the years there have been other drivers that have really shown how well they can control a car. Kyle Busch, Robby Gordon, Jimmy Johnson.

If she gets out there and does well, it will make a lot of people quiet. If she goes out there and stinks the joint up, it will confirm a lot of opinions about her.

BTW. If I told any of you that you could double/tripple/10X your racing budget (or take home salalry) by dressing a certain way and be in a provactive TV commercials. 99% of you would do it. She is in the Swimsuit Issue not Playboy.

The only reason Nascar is as popular as it is, is because Nascar took money from big tobacco. The drivers were pimpped for Winston. Now she does it for go daddy. Big deal. I don't watch the prelude anyway.

I really don't have a problem with Danica either. I do have a problem with the media constantly telling us how great she really is. The no hands, no look feature that she brought over to NASCRAP is just one of many things the media (mostly Darrell) have noted. I am just waiting for the Prelude so Darrell can tell us how she invented dirt track racing.:15::17::19:

I agree except for Danica being the best female driver, I gotta go with Sara Fisher. I wish she could have caught the breaks needed to do NASCAR. And I'll add Erin Crocker won a WOO A main, I think that's pretty strong. Jessica Zemken pretty tough as well.

I would put Stephanie Mockler on the list for talented lady drivers. On the other part of this, I believe that Danica has run the #9 midgets when they were developing the Ford engine. I also think that dad used to run Angel Park.

I don't need the media to hype her. I get more imformation on this board. Some people on here are obsessed with her.

Re: Danica in the Prelude

The event is great for charity which is the bottom line. She'll add more to that.

Having said that, the event is a circus (meaning a media circus). There are some guys that run dirt and are good at it. There are some that are clueless on dirt. This is just another act to add under the bigtop. I don't attend and don't watch on PPV so really doesn't matter to me.

Dave Blaney is always recognized as A WoO champ. Why don't people remember that he was also a USAC Silver Crown champ?:6: Without Googling it, I believe the year was 1984?

I believe also when Dave won the Silver Crown championship he was the youngest driver to do so at the time.

If its pay-per-view, she better have her HBO TaTa's out... then I'll feed the Children, and Jerry's kids, and Joey's Kids, and whatever other Charity I'm feeding.

Past that, It's gonna be great, some poor SOB (which in all actuality it will be a TSR car) but could some team be approached with this proposition?

"Hey we have the Prelude coming up and would like to have your car out their with a professional Nascar driver in it"

"Why sure whos the Driver?!?!"

"Danica Patrick"

"Oh....."

(Crew huddles briefly) "Do we have any Sh*tboxes that are bent every way from Sunday that we can bolt together, give her a crate motor from a street stock and do up a nice body?"

Most of the crew: "Can we just turn this opportunity down"
