Re: BOSS to Burg?
I plan to run for the 1st B.O.S.S. Title
B.O.S.S. Is Aaron Fry's Ohio based 410 Non-wing Sprintcar Series. Aaron is a racer and he is doing what racers what, need, and deserve! Taking non-wing sprintcars to places they haven't been before, paying a good purse, requiring no tire rules, weight rules or any rule other than a 1 Right Rear per/night policy and of coarse safety requirements. The top finsishing car with (all four) of either Hoosier, American Racer, and Goodyear Tires receive a bonus and he has extra bonus/ nightly awards including Hard Charger, and Steel Block.... With some help and support this could be an awesome series in years to come! Thank again Aaron and everyone @B.O.S.S. See you all at Fremont for the 2012 opener! Landon Simon |
Re: BOSS to Burg?
Wow, looking like a pretty good schedule already, Anyone know what the purses are going to be? Theres a race track in Wheelersburg? Is that Portsmouth speedway or is there another?

From the BOSS website over the winter... For 2012, all three tire manufacturers have agreed to stay on board as series sponsors for the new season and the series will keep its open tire rule in place. The same rule as last year will be in affect, where teams must use the same right rear tire in the heat and feature event. Also remaining the same, and continuing in the "outlaw" tradition, there will be no membership fees or entry fees for 2012 and no minimum weight rule. There will still be several bonus awards paid out at each event and those awards are being negotiated with sponsors currently. The standard show purse will remain the same as the 2011 shows which will be as follows: 1) $1200, 2) $800, 3) $600, 4) $500, 5) $450, 6) $400, 7) $375, 8) $350, 9) $325, 10) $300, 11) $280, 12) $260, 13) $250, 14) $240, 15-20) $225 to start. $100 tow money to any team who makes an honest attempt at racing in the program but fails to make the feature event. The standard purse will be the minimum pay at any track, but several tracks are negotiating payouts that could be slightly higher for their shows. Complete payouts will be posted for each event when the schedule is released. I imagine the Burg shows will basically be almost like a weekly show, with the exception of the lack of a tire rule, and some more cars. |
Re: BOSS to Burg?
Thanks Adam, Lots of needed Info. Its only about a hour out 32 down to Portsmouth and over to Wheelersburg. Might try to make that as well as the Burg and a couple others.

Re: BOSS to Burg?
Thanks for all the positive comments guys! For those of you who are not aware, this is Aaron Fry, the owner/promoter of the BOSS series. I have been known as "sprinter14" on message boards for my entire sprint career (14 years now). I am doing this for the love of the sport and doing what I think is in the best interest of the sport. If anyone has any comments, questions, or suggestions, I am easy to talk to and I appreciate any and all feedback.
To answer some questions, here are the drivers that I believe plan to run for the 2012 BOSS title: Todd Keen, Kirk Jeffries, Landon Simon, Mark Cassella, Aaron Middaugh, Michael Fischesser, Lewie Christian, Lance Webb, Dustin Smith, J.T. Stapp and at least 5 others plan to run the first 3 or 4 races and see how they shake out in the early points. Several people have asked who is behind BOSS, and I just want to let everyone know that it is 100% owned by myself. You will see 4 people on race nights in BOSS shirts and they are myself, my daughter, Troy Uhrig (marking tires), and Jim Roseberry (infield worker). All four of us are 100% dedicated to the series and promoting non wing racing in the Buckeye State! As for the post about fog at Southern Ohio Speedway, I don't recall that being a persistent problem at that track and I have probably seen more races there than any person on IOW. I was born and raised in Ironton, Ohio, about 20 minutes from Southern and that track is the reason why I got into racing, so it is only fitting that BOSS will run there. Thanks again for all the positive comments and lookin forward to seeing everyone at Fremont May 12th for the opener!! |
Re: BOSS to Burg?
Aaron we raced in your neck of the woods many times in the late 60's early 70's. george harbour was our driver at the time.:6:

George Harbour was one of my heroes as a kid! He, Bob Carico, Junior Smalley, Pappy Singleton, ........ my earliest memories of life itself is sitting in the bleachers at Atomic or Southern and watching the sprints! My parents were actually late model fans and they had no clue what effect those sprints were having on me, haha. I met Bob Carico in a college class in 1996 and when I bought my first sprint car later that year, Bob started helping me out. As bad as I hate to admit it, I'm not sure what happened to Bob. He disappeared on me over a year ago and went back to his hometown. Be sure to look me up at one of our BOSS races this year!! |
