Bubba the Love Sponge
Check out @btlsradio on Twitter. Wanna talk about about a guy with thin skin with no ability to take criticism. I am sure there were faults on both ends over the the last couple days but what a crybaby rant.

Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
I guess there is a fine line between defending yourself and coming across as crying.

Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
I guess thats why Sponge is at the end of his name.To soak up tha tears!

Re: Bubba the Love Sponge

Anyway you look at it the guy must be a buffoon to want to throw USAC out for something that happened between him and another individual or two. |

Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
Bubba Clem started out here in Terre Haute. He never really was one of the funnier DJs in this market. In lieu of creativity, he's always relied on being controversial and stepping over the line, as far as the FCC goes.

Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
"His 9-year-old son, Tyler, also factored into the decision. Tyler, Clem said, is a developmental driver with Stewart–Haas Racing — co-owned by NASCAR driver Tony Stewart, and the track “is a natural way for him to practice.”

Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
Anybody that refers to themselves as "Bubba the Love Sponge" is starving for attention. I listened to him on Sirius a few times several years back. He is truly a idiot.
I just can't take anybody serious that is as unprofessional as he is. I wish that no sanctioning body would support him. |
Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
Is that the same Sponge dude that ran the Chili Bowl a few years back and flipped his D--- Off? Or was that Sponge BOB? I'm not sure, they both look and act alike......:5:
|
I was witness to Bubba's track prep. Friday late morning he had run the sheeps foot around and watered, the track was still black from the rubbered down track he gave them Thursday. USAC and some of the owners spoke up and he finally dug it up. He won't be around long because he will have everybody upset with his attitude.

Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
I guess that means USAC is not Sponge Worthy. :3:
Frankly I'm glad I never had an occasion to listen to the guy on the radio. |
Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
If he’s going to be that sensitive when things aren’t 100% right, he better get out of the business now. How many times have fans/drivers gotten on the internet to complain about a track (some deserved, some not)? How many times have you seen the track owner get on the internet to blast fans/drivers? Not saying never, but rarely. You can’t run a business by basically telling people FU. I get the, “I’m going to tell it like it is” deal, but it doesn’t make a lot of sense when running a business. When people aren’t happy, you can’t tell them FU. Sometimes you have to handle things off-line. We have seen a track that wasn’t great and the reason given was, “sanctioning body X took over and I had no control over it”. That happens (not sure in this case), but I’ve not seen a track owner get into fights with drivers and officials about it on the internet. Lot to learn, you can’t treat owning a track like it’s a radio show. He might be PO’ed, but not handled well.

Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
Just heard his Monday morning show. Some of the things he said about USAC and the Clauson's and the group of racers (other than DD, Hines, Bud, and Levi) were absolutely uncalled for. There should not be a sanctioning body in North America that would want to run at this guys race track.

Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
I hope usac finds a place to run in Florida next year if Bubba's rant persist. I was planning on going next year. Seems like he has done a pretty good job of promoting usac the last 3 years. Can't believe he dosen't look at it as a learning experience and move on. On a good note it was one great finish.
|
Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
According to Bubba the Jackass, USAC won't be back next year. He already announced Big Block Mods. Oooooohhhhh, can't wait for that.

Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
Having just listened to the Radio Show using the 3-Hour delay West Coast stream.
Yes, it was not great how he spoke about Bryan or USAC Racing. But that was nothing compared to the 'shock jocks' treatment regarding the death of Whitney Houston. While in no way a fan of Whitney, I do believe you should respect the dead. Bubba is a shock jock, that's what he does. He also has a track to promote - going head to head with the WOO Sprints next Saturday night. So he's getting his 'track' and the 'you wait til' next weekend' promo's in while he can. I just find the target of his latest shock jock tactics a little off. Dirt Track Racing is grassroots Bubba not Hollywood. Tracks are closing faster than they are opening. Bubba as a Dirt Race Track owner, you gotta rise above race day emotions. What ever happened to 'What went down on track stays on track' - Bubba your part of that world now. And there are very different protocols for sorting out the race track bust ups. |
Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
I just listened to it too Stephen and he's about as biggest jerk i've ever heard .

Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
and i quote his favorite saying
its all about me, me me me me i knew saturday night the bus was warming up for monday,i was there on the track and i didn't here bryan say any thing ,on the other hand a crew member of his was having a hissy fit, they never threatened not to race like he said on the radio ( a few people don't speak for everybody) but usac told them we have what we have and we will come out looking like the bad guy's so let's race. |
Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
Been in Florida February 2010, 11, & 12 but only attended the cold East Bay in 2010. USAC must build a relationship with quality tracks in Florida so fans can see non wing sprints in multiple markets over a 10-14 day period. I refused to attend anything "Bubba" since 2010. It appears I haven't missed much. See you all in April at the races!

Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
I might offer a few thoughts here, glad to see some Sprint Car Racing in Florida, cold and snowy here in Indiana. Glad to see a few IOW members while I was there, overall had a good time, would I return there dunno.
Wednesday night practice was good with the exception of everyone going through several tires.Thursday night, well it was pretty much rubber down the whole night resulting in the pictures that were posted here, ugghh.Race teams found out that the tire people accepted cash only, that was bad news, glad everyone could stay for the rest of the week. That was the first night the comment was, this is my track I will run it my way,if you dont like it leave. Friday night started out good but Mother Nature won as we all know. Saturday, despite what was announced that the track was prepped all day, sure made one wonder how accurate that statement was. Finally racing was underway, fast quals and heat races and a good feature. Clauson tried as best he could, just a little short this time. Thanks to ALL the teams that made the trip and for tolerating the circumstances and the other hurdles.:22: |
Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
Attended the 2011-2012 Usac nationals --was very disapointed Thurs --no water truck at any time -track laid rubber -even had it on my hat. Fri. a story in it`s own- Sat -track wet worked on bottom only -track prep ? all in all vey good show -very much Florida NOT Indiana-passing hard to do -sand not clay -Bubba needed to walk thru parking lot ---Ind. Ohio are where the crowd came from -Fl ?

Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
Why doesn't USAC give a account of what really was said? Seems to me that both sides should have comprimised.

It's not stooping to Bubba the Jackass' level if they do it with class.
They don't have to call him out or bash him, but they could at least do something to put out the fire that's burning. |
Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
YEP FUNNY THING ABOUT IT IS HE GOT HIS DJ CARERR IN TERRE HAUTE AT A LOCAL RADIO STATION I USS TO LISTEN TO HIM ALL THE TIME ON THE SCHOOL BUS...

Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
We may not have to worry about USAC because they will have no cars if they keep up the nonsense about ethanol for fuel I know 4 silver crown teams that are not running this year because of it Wait until it spills over to the midgets and sprints They mandate a HANS for safety and then want you to sit on 100 gallons that is like gasoline Go figure
|
Re: Bubba the Love Sponge
Just an old timers view of all this nonsense of "mandating" things, and specifying manufacturer, aren't they "exposing" themsleves to the wrath of the lawyers, for instance, Mandating Hoosier tires, Hans device, and all the other things they, and not only USAC, but all the organizations, and promoters, same way with "inspection" decals, they are laying themselves open to liability, if someone hurts or gets hurt, by being "forced" to use a specific "brand", I know a long time ago, we did away with the "inspected" decal, and just went with an organization decal, after the car, and gear were CK'd, no reference was made to any certification or declaration of safety was mentioned, it had just been visually ck'd and "allowed" to participate, the main thing was per the rule book, date on belts, helmet, tread and wheelbase, and that was about it. I know it seems a bit on the "won't happen" side, but if I were a promoter, or track owner, or organization, I'd feel more comfy, with the brands not associated with what you "had" to run. Just sayin! Bob!:)
