This guy's trying to tell people to go up to Shane Cottle to verify the drivel that he spews, yet was slandering Shane (along with Jon) in one of his previous posts. This was the same Armstrong that was on here looking for a ride recently. I would suggest any team owner look carefully, before they get involved with this class act.

Probably wanted to stir up a hornet's nest by throwing down on the most dominant driver of traditional sprintcars in the Midwest since, maybe Jay Drake's dream season? And this is a guy who has taken 2006 numbers and jacked them up even more with monumental 2007 success.
So...I get all that. You're peeved. But did I just actually read that you emphasized that flipping the bird to some fans likely yelling obscenities at him from a few yards away under a red would actually somehow disqualify a driver from the Nascar ranks? Bad behavior (even explicable bad behavior) is now a no-no in the Cup ranks? Re-think that last little bit sometime in the next two weekends when some aggrieved Cup star throws his helmet at the guy who spun him, calls a fellow driver a silly name immediately upon having a microphone stuck in front of him, or shoves a competing crew guy or other driver as soon as their car comes to a stop While Cameras Follow His Every Gesture, aching for him to go further.
Jon Stanbrough isn't going to win over fans with his demeanor--nor care that he won't--but his skills on the track do not need to be certified by message threads or outside opinions. Just look down his tailtank at the end of the season, when the spine of that tank is clustered with more (winner's) stickers than most Big Ten senior's football helmets.
I don't need to have seen whatever may have transpired between he and Damion to consider his driving skills to be a matter beyond dispute.
Hate him if you wish, but impugning his talent is laughable.

If it is indeed J.R. Armstrong, I don't understand why you have such a hard-on for those cats. You had your time and your chances 20+ years ago. No one ever had better equipment for their era. From what I remember;you didn't care what anyone thought of you either.

If you have a personal problem with anyone, why wouldn't you just deal with them on it. If you have left over anger from a career that left you unsatisfied, you need to deal with it, because from here it looks like you are imploding.

You are pimping owners for rides on here, but at the same time you are bashing guys who are successful.

Dameon put on a great show last night and all true race fans have to appreciate that, and it was a shame that he didn't finish. The fact is, Jon is the class of the field across the nation both on and off the track, and he showed it again last night. Anyone who can't acknowledge this has the problem, not Jon and the Fox brothers.

Yes, the rude fans may be wrong, but so was Jon's response. He could have taken the high road and chose to ignore the catcalls - but his response shows exactly where he stands, at least in terms of judgement. Like I said, he's a heckuva driver. He just needs work on his behavior here.....

Like tonyj says, be sure to wave that double-standard flag PROUDLY and show your hypocrisy!:rolleyes:

Wow sounds like I should have made the trip up to Gas City. To bad gas prices are so high!:rollingI missed alot of action it apperently! To my knowledge this is the first time I have ever heard of Jon acting out of line in front of fans. Everyone has there days and hey it probally just struck a nerve and he reacted. I would be willing to bet that if he had to do it over he probally would have not filpped the bird.

I was setting down in turn one.. and stanbrough was doing amazing but gardner had one heck of a drive.. 22nd to 8th in 8 laps.. but coming to the white flag there was major lap traffic..i think jon coulda gave a little bit but they were both going for the win i didnt see what happend during the red flag with jon but from what i saw gardner hooked a rut.. and it was over from there.. but he did one heck of a job.. hes the only one that had anything for stanbrough i thought..

This is the most true statement on this thread!!!! No one said Jon couldnt drive, they just said his actions were not proper. AKA like other drivers have done in the past and most on this board was trying to lynch but its Jon Stanbrough, so its ok for him too do.

How did this board get to this?? Instead of talking about one of the best races of the year, watching Stanbrough being steady and fast and Gardner making his wild charge through the field, bouncing off the front stretch wall once on his own and once with a little help and still having a chance to win. We are talking about something that happened afterwards. Not defending anyone, but we should be talking about the race. Just my opinion.

Just for the sake of saying it and then no longer posting on this "battle of the threads" stuff...The original JKA post had initially talked about Stanbrough being a pedestrian driver lucky enough to be in a great car that anyone could win with. Along the line he suggested people approach Shane Cottle to verify that anyone could win with the Foxco car (which backhandedly suggests that Cottle's talents are only average as well). What once was a scathing post about Stanbrough, his talents, his behavior to the fans yelling at him after the Gardner flip, and why all this means that Stanbrough can never be classy or skilled enough to get into a Cup ride, now is merely a single word post that says "race" as far as I can see. Perhaps the early morning anger that incited the thread has given way to a more sober assessment of what JKA actually knows to be true.

was what he did right....no...but i would rather see genuine displays of emotion in victory lane at a dirt track than the cardboard cutout drivers and memorized speeches spewed from the mouths of the drivers "at the next level"
the adrenaline is still flowing pretty fast in victory lane and sometimes chits gonna happen....deal with it.
