Re: Tracks Attended - 2011

I agree about the rain. I hear about how much of the country is suffering from drought and have come to the conclusion that all of the rain this year was on race tracks. I managed to hit the following tracks:

Volusia (FL)
Hendry County Speedway, Clewiston (FL)
Ocala (FL)
Gas City (IN)
Kokomo (IN)
Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IN)
Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, Clermont (IN)
Indianapolis Fairgrounds mile (IN)
Lincoln Park (IN)
Bloomington (IN)
Lawrenceburg (IN)
Terre Haute (IN)
Brownstown (IN)
Haubstadt (IN)
Macon (IL)
Lincoln (IL)
Tri-City Speedway, Granite City (IL)
Canyon Raceway, Phoenix (AZ)
USA Raceway, Tucson (AZ)
Perris Auto Speedway (CA)
Speedway of Southern New Mexico, Las Cruces (NM)

Visited Ocala and Canyon for the first time this year and I will return to both. Sure miss Danville (IL). I hope someone will reopen it.

Re: Tracks Attended - 2011

There is a thread I started earlier this year and it was moved to the race results and schedule page. Some of us kept track there. Mud Packer got a ton but i met drtchsr (Dirtchaser) who was on his way to 150 races for the year. Check it out and copy and past your stats there :)
https://www.indianaopenwheel.com/showthread.php?t=44763

As for Rain, I was lucky, Many times just going by radar and gut feeling like the Chuck Amati Paragon. and USAC Terre/Putnamville races. Drove thru storms many times to get to a race where it wasn't
1 Rainout new Years Day at Brushcreek Motorsports LM
3/19/11 Spring 50 Florence Speedway LM's Winner Eddie Carrier Jr. Good race with lots of side by side for the lead racing. Tacky and fast
4/2/11 Burg Practice, Coons, JJ Hughes, Sudrette and two other sprints. Coons 1 tenth off track record
4/2/11 Twin Cities No Way out 40. Winner Dave Darland 2nd Jon Stanbrough
4/8/11 Eldora Usac opener. Another debacle started racing at ten. Fogged out before features at midnight
4/9/11 Lawrenceburg, On a night when I swore they wouldn't race with storms all day. The pulled off a great one. Tracy Hines, Gullick, Burdette, Elson, Moffatt Drivers flatfooting someone had to bobble bur everyone bobbled at some point. FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4/29 Gas City Usac. 48 cars in attendance. Hunter, Windom, Clauson finish.
5/8 Burg reg show. 27 cars Hunter, BC, Riggs, Jon, Demon, Short, Windom, Bloom, Balou, Hup, Clayton, Gullick, Moffatt, Shu finish Storms right after pure stock feature.
5/20 Bloomington. Windom, JS, Larson. Good run by windom won from Eighth I think.
5/28 Burg, Short by a mile
6/4 Tri-State. Riggs first win, Short, Critter Malone.
6/10 Bloomington. Midget Week. Kyle Larson, Windom, Cottle. Larsons first USAC win in spectacular fashion, Short won sprints, DD then Leary
6/11 Burg Midget Week. Clauson. All three classes terrific on a very wide and racy track
6/19 first ever visit to Paragon Internatonal super speedway. Track was perfect. Chuck Amati 68 classic. Short, Ballou, Stanbrough, DD, in a barn burner.
6/24 Bloomington Sheldon Kinser Memorial, Windom, Bloom. Track good for heats huggy pole feature
6/25 Burg Clayton and the Mean Green, Hoffman Auto Racing Machine! Finally caught a great one Buck did not attend

7/9 Kokomo ISW, Hunter, WIndom, Clauson. Awesome racing many lead changes.
7/10 Burg ISW, Ballou, Windom, Grant. Awesome but dusty heats and little passing in feature.
7/14 Brownstown ISW Riggs, Levi, Brady Dusty but four wide. Water truck pulled onto track into path of cars in heat one.
7-23 Burg Tracy Hines winner

8-13 Burg, Winner Brady Short
8-20 Burg, winner Gullick from 8th
8-27 LPS Shuman in the Elson 27
9-3 burg winner Hunter from 17th
9-10 THAT, WInner Windom
9-10 LPS WInner, Sciscoe
9/17 Burg, Boespflug Wins race and championship. Grant comes from last to second to challenge after flat on lap five.
10/1 Burg, Levi Jones 10.000. Windom, Hunter
10/14 Kokomo Klash. Darland wins Sprint. Tracy Hines Midgets. Both races muli leader and three four wide lead battles at times
10/22 Fall 50 LM's Florence Speedway. Scott James wins after taking lead about halfway
11/19 Moler Turkey Gobbler 40. Winner Jason Jameson from 16th

14 tracks 33 races.
2 new tracks, Paragon and Brush Creek

Quinn has a stack of great tracks! My only new track this was the ill fated IndyCar weekend at Las Vegas. I went back to Rockford Speedway for the Must See Racing event in July. First time there since 2006 I believe. Caught a great double with the Indy 500 and Little 500 on the same day. I capped off my season at Bristol for the Must See show there.

For the year I was over twenty shows, and I lost three more to rain.

Re: Tracks Attended - 2011

This year, like last year we went for quality over quantity !!! Final count for 2011 was: Sprints {winged and Non-Wing}, Late Models and Midgets...

43 races, 34 different winners, 22 tracks, 7 states, 8 Sanctioning Bodies..

Since the 2011 race season is over I'd like to thank Chuck for starting the original thread about race count. Only because Petey's count was right above mine and every week I edited my race count throughout the year, It me stop and remember. And with Petey's favorite race week [Chili Bowl] right around the corner, I'd just like to say one last time: R.I.P Petey......:(

Backed it down to 102 races this year. 45 tracks, I think 8 were new. Some really good shows, particularly from Kokomo and the Dirt Late Model shows I hit. Pretty sure I'm done until Chili Bowl...

Re: Tracks Attended - 2011

35 race nights which is pretty good considering my home track had to close the doors the first of July due to flooding. Thankfully, it is scheduled to re-open in 2012. 5 new tracks this year inculding Indy Motor Speedway, Indy State Fairground, ORP, Kokomo and Lake Ozark Speedway. This brings my total to 73 tracks in 14 states. Highlights include my first trip to the Indy 500, the Gold Crown Midget weekend, and a regular show at Ventura Speedway. I love watching the races in front of me and watching the waves hit the beach behind me.

Drtchsr 11/27/11 9:45 AM

Here I go! Too many to list all but below are my highlights.

150 races to date. 8 more to go.
22 new tracks this year.
57 USAC events, missed 4 of the triple crown due to pneumonia
53 races in Indiana.
18 rain outs.

Even thought Chuck said it was a ton:19:, we were down this year, mostly due to Mother Nature. Certainly pales in comparison to DRTCHSR but we still enjoyed the 2011 season.:6: Hoping to hit 3 more before the ball drops on 2011.

Like to say thanks to Chuck for the other thread. Easy to keep track of when and where.

Only hit 76 races at 30 tracks in 5 states with 16 different sanctioning bodies this year. I guess not bad for still having to work for a living.:3: Here are the tracks.

Re: Tracks Attended - 2011

I, too remember the similar thread at the beginning of the season, but forgot to keep track. Well, here we go.

Battleground Speedway, Highlands, Texas
Royal Purple Raceway, Baytown, Texas
Golden Triangle Raceway Park, China, Texas
Gator Motorplex, Willis, Texas
Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Speedway, Indiana
Bloomington Speedway, Bloomington, Indiana
Lawrenceburg Speedway, Lawrenceburg Indiana
Indiana State Fairgrounds, Indianapolis, Indiana
Kokomo Speedway, Kokomo, Indiana

Gas City I69 Speedway, Gas City, Indiana
Terre Haute Action Track, Terre Haute, Indiana
Brownstown Speedway, Brownstown, Indiana

Battleground Speedway Weekly Racing
ASCS Gulf South
USMTS
SUPR Late Models
USAC Sprint Cars
USAC Silver Crown
USAC/CRA
KISS
Kokomo Weekly Racing
MSCS
IRL/Indy 500
WoO Winged Sprints

52 race events, one rain out (Little 500).

Not a bad average, one event per week.

Tri City
Belle-Clair
Macon
Jacksonville
Lincoln
