360 vs 410 non wing competative?

I'm just curious if I was running a 360 wing car and decided to take the wing off and run non wing how much of a disadvantage would I be at? Thanks

mostly depends on track conditions and your abillity to set your car up. on a slick track you can have the advantage over more powered engines although your car has to be working its all about momentum:6:

I guess it would depend on your skills and how good of a 360 motor you have in your possession. I believe Casey Shuman won two features at Putnamville this year with a 360 under the hood. Although, those were local track races. I highly doubt you could be competitive racing in the bigger sanctions like USAC or MSCS.

Seen Jesse Hockett go from 21st to third at Eldora with one.

Im still of the opinion the first IN track to run 360s and pay the same purse as the 410 is going to have a 50 car count at the end of the first year. Many teams have em anyway

Momentum is the key with a 360. You can be competitive on a bullring with one vs a 410,especially on a slick track for sure. Can't get bogged down on the huggy pole though, the 410s will out torque you everytime. You are also heavier with the steel block vs aluminum too. Keep it wound up on the top!

We were at Waynesworld racing & Chad Wilson w/ a 305 was holding off our driver w/ Aluminum 410 running the bottom.:6: I was told the last race BOSS had the 360's went straight to the back. Track was tight turns long straights.:11; Might've been some 360's up front - don't know:19:

They run non-wing open motor rules at Valley Speedway outside KCMO. Just last weekend a 305 beat a 410 and multiple 360's. It's a slick 1/3 mile. This year there's a 50 weight break for the 305. Next year everyone weighs 1500. There's talk of a local touring series for 2012 with the same rules. Most of the motors are 360's and 305's so it's not a direct relation but the 305's hold their own. Just gotta be hard on the methanol.

The last season the Sprint Bandits tour ran they were offering a $500 bonus for the highest finishing 360....a few guys put in a 360 instead of their 410 to take advantage of that....
When the tour came to Lucas Oil speedway in Wheatland, MO that year they found an extremely hooked up rough tacky nasty track was waiting for them...Justin Grant ran a 360 and I am pretty sure he ran top 5 that night behind Bacon and Ballou and ahead of several other big motors...

There is never such a thing as "too much horsepower" in racing...ask any driver if he would rather have 100 more or give away 100hp....but in non wing sprint car racing the motor is less important than any other type of racecar....

Thanks everybody for the help.

Justin had an aluminum 410 that race and most of the guys running 360s crashed and were not very competitive because the track was very heavy. 360's would be ok at small slick tracks, like Putnamville or Paragon. Anywhere else and you begin to put yourself at a huge disadvantage, not only with power, but the weight.

Didn't Jason Sides win a wingless race at East Bay with a 360 on a dry slick track?
