USAC sprint car smackdown
Just read on USACs twitter page: aug 23-25 2012 USAC national sprint cars at Kokomo speedway for the first annual sprint car smack down. Paying 10,000 to win and 1,000 to start the feature on aug 25th..I'm very excited for this one already

Re: USAC sprint car smackdown
Hope they spread some $$$$ into the B main otherwise all the IN regulars will head to the other local tracks instead of running this big show. IMO

Re: USAC sprint car smackdown
This is a 3 night show, 5,000 to win aug 23rd and 24th, 10,000 to win aug 25th, they announced it at the Klash last night.

I guess I think back to the Mopar Million which drew over 100 cars and the primary reason was everyone left with some money in their pockets not just those who started the A. JMO Posted via Mobile Device |

It's like beating a dead horse. pay more to start and you will get more cars. plain and simple. JMHO... But who am i.. :) |
It paid 10 grand to start.

$1000 to start. There will be plenty of cars.

Re: USAC sprint car smackdown
This is really big news. Think about it, this instantly gives Kokomo Speedway the third biggest non-wing sprint event in the country. Right behind Indiana Sprint Week and the Oval Nationals. I'm curious to see if it causes any of the other Indiana tracks to step up their game.

Re: USAC sprint car smackdown
Yes this will work and I'm afraid this is where sprint car racing is heading, don't know if that is good or bad. If a fair amount is paid in the back and b then the car count will be huge if not will still be big, fuel and expenses cost the same if you win or run last!

Re: USAC sprint car smackdown
There were rumors of Burg a couple years ago doing a All Star three our four night deal. Then they had the back to back MSCS/USAC shows and since its been one night.
I know its a ton of work but I'd love to see a multi Individual days show here and it can handle the crowd and the Frolic :) |
Re: USAC sprint car smackdown
Looks like I'll be going to Kokomo for my birthday next year

not trying to hurt anybody's feelings but it's about time usac took a piece from the book the way the late model world does things. starting money, multiple day shows bring big crowds and good car counts most of the time.

I think we have a winner!

I wasn't making this a Burg Post but to the tracks that can handle such a thing, Pick a weekend and put on a multi individual days show.
Seriously, Some tracks I only get two once or twice a year. You could get more admissions/food/drink from one customer in one weekend than you could season from anyone other than locals. |
Re: USAC sprint car smackdown
I been waiting for something like this for a couple years. With high gas prices and a below par economy a multi day event at one track sure makes it easier for us out of staters to travel. It will be great to stay put for 3 days without having to get up in the morning and hit the road right away. When we make these trips we also like to enjoy a few beverages so staying at one track is a bonus. This is going to be a IOW 3 day Woodstock! I'll bring the cheese! :32:

Re: USAC sprint car smackdown
This is gonna be a great weekend. 3 days of great racing and the Frolic...if they can rehab after sprint week. lol

Re: USAC sprint car smackdown
As per the 2012 Lucas Oil schedule Lawrenceburg has a late model show on this weekend. So that's one of the local tracks that won't compete against this event.
