I was sure hoping that would happen. Thanks to everyone on that list so far :9:
Gonna be hard to top last years' event, but the talent is sure gonna be there. :32:

Great news! Really looking forward to this one!

coondog 9/19/11 11:21 PM

Can't blame the rev limit. USAC has something thats compatible with mags. I'm 99% sure that Steve Buckwalter runs a mag and ran midget week.

USAC told me they have a way to rev limit any ignition system midgets may be running.

They have had it all year so POWRi can't use that as an excuse

Wondering what the real reason is they have boycotted USAC shows this year.

They also seemed to have boycotted Tri-City Speedway this year. Or vise versa. When the schedules came out this year, this was one of the big mysteries to me. This place is a perfect midget track. Three of the better (including the absolute best) races I saw all year, last year, were midget races on this track. Not having as many or even more midget races there was just crazy on POWRi and/or the track's part, IMO.

We we're unable to come to an agreement with the POWRi group for any races this year. No fault of ours.

Thanks, Kevin

Incredible entry list coming together...

I can't agree enough with Coondog's thoughts about this show and about midget racing in general. We really need to get the fans out for this

Buckwalter runs a different engine with MSD ignition when he runs USAC.When he runs ARDC he runs a Gaerte with a mag.

It's pretty sad when there's 53 entries at a USAC sanctioned race and only 12 of those entries are true USAC driver/owners.

I don't know the answer Dirt Pusher, but how many cars at this years Knoxville Nationals were TRUE World of Outlaw teams? The number seems some what comparable to other series. I am glad to see guys from different series compete.

You have to have like a 5th degree black belt in pessimism to pull something negative out of this deal. A three day national midget show, with 53 entries already. I don't know whether to be impressed or to feel sorry for you.:3:

Re: "Gold Crown Pre Entry List" 45 Teams alre

It took me a couple years to stomach the destruction of the former half mile there but once I finally got over that and attended the "Kevin Doty Classic" midget/non-wing sprint race 2 years ago I was sure glad I did. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen in 34 years of attending races. Tons of action and awesome racing. The only thing I would have changed would've been the elimination of the winged mini's which they did for this one! This is like a dream event for a fan like me. You have to give the promoter a ton of credit and maybe next year if the crowd is great they could up the sprint car purse too. I love half miles but if it had to be changed they definately built an awesome track that has a dirt surface that leaves most other tracks "in the dust"!!! It's killing me to have to miss Thurs. but will be there eyes wide open for the rest.
