MMSA NON WING at Montpelier 9-17-11

The MMSA race sat. Sept. 17th at Montpelier, IN will be a non-wing event, It's unfortunate that Waynesfield rescheduled their Sept. 3rd rainout on this same date, especially, after we changed the date at Montpelier to accomadate some northern Ohio/Indiana racers, to provide an opportunity for a non wing race close to home.

It is the desire of the MMSA that there is sufficient support for both tracks, However, I do feel the need to point out that it is difficult to schedule non wing mini sprint races at other tracks, The support for this race will have a very real affect on future scheduling of any MMSA events at northern Indiana/Ohio tracks.

The race at Montpelier will pay the regular MMSA purse, $500 to win, $50 to start, $25 to the hard charger, $25 to the highest finishing 600 in the "A" and $25 to all cars that fail to qualify for the "A" (must take a green flag in a heat).
All upright 1,000cc stock bore & stroke mini sprints, 600's too, are welcome to race, since this is a wingless race the 600's should be more competitive, especially on this size track, we encourage you to come race with us. If there are any T/Q's (since it's non-wing) that would like to make this race, contact me in advance, we may include you.

There will be no MMSA membership fee required for this race, if we have 20 plus cars, the pill draw will be $20 and we will pay $600 to win.
remember, even if you don't make the "A" you receive $25, I encourage you to talk to your racing friends about this weekend and I hope you
choose to support this event.

The Montpelier promoter, Harold Hunter, at the Drivers meeting will discuss the possibility of midget, mini sprint combination racing for the 2012 season.

See the MMSA website for rules, info, etc. minimum weight requirement is 890# for cars on alky, 855# on gas, 600's 825# for non wing.

Might invite some midgets to see what would be needed to race with them. Don won 24 with with his midged would 100 lbs slow him down enough so we could run with him?

If a midget started the race with 27 gals of fuel how much would be left at the end of a 20 lap race? We use about 5 gal's.

Bill this is the same thing I am imposing next year with the midget, lightning and mini sprints...our weights are a lil more ...

WEIGHT

Minimum weight with the driver shall be:
NON WING
PUMP GAS
MICRO/MINI 600cc/619cc - 725bs ..... 636cc/750cc – 775lbs.
UPRIGHT 1000cc - 915lbs

NON WING
METHENOYL
MICRO/MINI 600cc/619cc - 775lbs ..... 636cc/750cc – 825lbs.
UPRIGHT 1000cc - 975lbs

these are STOCK motors....the biggest reason the difference in gas and methenoyl is cost for the change over..I am also implementing a shock rule...a series shock for under 125.00 per shock....there is no need to go spend 1000.00 per shock for this kind of racing. Of course the 3/4 money guy's do not like it but the 15/20 underfunded teams love it

We need to hire a handicapper from a horse track for a year. You can do it with weight, but it sure gets the skinny guy's mad. A race with 20 1100 lb cars and drivers would look and feel as good as one with 20 900 lb cars and drivers, it would kind of put the brakes on those of us who have to weigh so often. We don't weigh because it's a given we weigh enough before we startthe race.

This is why my weights are the way they are...why does a big racer have to feel handicapped...the guy's that have tiny boys and girls or kids in there cars sure can add weight alot easier....but then again when you remove the crutch up top it does bring everyone so much closer

If you use 2.5 gal of gas you will probably need 5 gal of alky. 2.5 x 8 lbs gal equals 20 lbs right off the bat extra weight for alky.

My driver weighs 235 lbs I could make weight with a lot of on-ob-tanium and .060 rails but I realy don't want to put my driver at risk. We usually weigh about 1030 lbs at the end of the race with wing. If I hired a 125 lb hot shoe it wouldn't be a family deal and I would probably quit. So I guess I'll just keep Bitchen on this old post.

We have a great weather forecast for this weekend. If you haven't been to the speedway since last season, you will see a lot of work has been completed and ongoing. Restrooms, additional bleachers, sound system, track configuration, and additional track, pit, and parking lot lighting are all new at the speedway this season.

We will also be looking for input on the possible new Midget class at the speedway. We hope to have a nice turnout of Mini-Sprints this weekend and thanks for your support!
