Springfield Updates

The weather doesn't look good but I'm heading down anyway. Any updates would be greatly appreciated.

Radar looks like the big blob of yellow and red will stay south, at least for a while. We might catch a little of the green, though. Keep your fingers crossed. Off to Jungle Jim's for breakfast for me.

Updates all from USAC's twitter

27 @Traxxas Silver Crown Cars signed in today at Springfield! Just about time for practice...

Levi Jones fastest in First Practice at 29.329 over Clauson Kaeding Hollingsworth Hagen Hines Fike Windom East Coons Darland Stanbrough...

Track is FAST! Very close to the track record, and Bob Sargent put more water on before Final Practice...

We are UNDER the Track Record in Final Practice here at Springfield! This could get interesting!

I live about 80 miles South of S-field, and trust me, we really need a blob of yellow down that way. Just so long as it stays down there.

Yeah I don't like it either. Takes a lot of the strategy out of the race if you ask me

This is just classic Brian Tyler. Gets a bad starting spot and methodically works his way to the front. How many times have you seen him do it?

nonwing 8/20/11 4:08 PM

Re: Springfield Updates

I agree Jerry. The other thing is that Brian is just plain fearless. I will never forget seeing him split two guys down the middle for a heat race win at Gas City. Just a regular show, nothing special, he's just a stand on the gas kind of guy.

Re: Springfield Updates

Good day at Springpatch! Tyler sure has that place figured out. He is getting into Chuck Gurney territory. He started 14th and took the lead on the 14th lap. The track was absolutely rocket fast in hotlaps. The sun came out and the times in qualifying went way up. The first half the race there was some passing on the outside. The second half was pretty much on the rail and it got dry/slick, especially turn 4. All in all, a great day at my favorite track. Glad Beechler is OK, he took a pretty good tumble.

Way to go Brian!!! CONGRATS! :22:

did they stop it at 50 and double em up? I know Tyler is not a fan of that format.

Shane was black flagged for a broken Dzus bracket holding the visor soon after the 51 lap mandatory pit stop. This put him two laps down and finishing 17th or so. He was fast and smooth, holding his position and conserving for the finish. Another very impressive run in his rookie season.

Re: Springfield Updates

The 37 car was mysteriously absent so Stanbrough landed in the 17 car at Brad Kuhn's expense. The 90 car was also mysteriously absent so Heydenriech landed in the 43 car at Shuerenburg's expense. The 63 car must have also been hanging out with the 37 and 90 somewhere. The 65 car was stolen a while back..... hence only 27 cars were present.

SpfldMile 8/21/11 2:07 PM

Re: Springfield Updates

Also missing was the 97 that got tore up at Terre Haute and the 76 that Kellen Conover had at Terre Haute.

Heard that Schurenburg has a new SC ride with someone else but that the car wasn't ready for Springfield. Hope it works out well for him. I think he's probably, no definately, the politest person I have ever met.
Don't know what the deal was with the 90 team, but it was great having Hot Rod in the 43. Hope we can keep him!
Unfortunately we cut a LR in qualifying & backed her into the turn 1 wall ending our day early.
Well, on to DuQuoin!

The 90 team was set to go, but then there was a last minute change in plans. All is well that ends well. I was sorry to hear about the cut tire in the 43 that ended John's day early. I was rooting for the 43 from afar!
