I sure hope not... We have enough quarter miles in Indiana. I like the variety.

Did hear rumor floating around top row of section A sat. night, that there may be some other work done but nothing as to changing track dimensions.:39:

That's what I heard Merrill. It will end up as a big 1/4 or a 1/3.

I was told that Dave sent in a request to the fair board to cut down the track/re-configure at the request of all most all his teams/drivers. I doubt that this will happen anytime soon but it is very clear that most teams will not run Lawrenceburg weekly and more would if the race track was smaller like it used to be.... I enjoy racing there but agree that for the The Burg to ever get 30-40 cars weekly again something with have to change!

I hope so, the change ruined Lawrenceburg racing wise. If they don't do something it wouldn't surprise me if it became a special event only track.

It's probably B S ,,but if its true hopefully they will leave the big track in tact maybe cut some banking out to make it flatter.
Then maybe cut a nice track inside of the big track and bring back the old bullring style of track with all the run off room for a little forgiveness that won't eat up cars and motors.
The big track is great but just not for the weekend warrior type of racer.
Use the big track for specials WoO ,Lucas, Arca......I would still like to see the Dirt Champ cars run at the Burg and East coast style mods ,big and small blocks.

Personally if the purse was left like this weekends Gaines Classic. I think it would help

As for the track, Merrill already said no change to size. However if they did build a quarter inside. Id like it kinda flat AKA Kokomo without the wall.

i've heard this rumor also!! thats two people, it must be true. I also heard they bought the old hoosier dome and they are installing it in the winter so they can race year round in 2012!!

The Xplex in Portland, Indiana bought the Hoosier Dome for their weekly midgets races during the winter months several years ago. :D

I know I'm "only a mod driver" and I'll probably get bashed but I hated the old 'burg... worst blown engine I ever had was at the old track and I have been way more torn up on the old track. I hope they leave it alone, definitely one of my favorite tracks. Just my 2 cents...

Nah, Just sprint cars. 5000-500. Three slick grooves with a cushion on each to lean on. Alternating laps between the quarter and three eighths.

Tack on a Ultimate Challenge for any top six qualifyer starting from the tail and winning. 100 per car passed. 35 laps

Wait. I have the perfect solution. We have the Astrodome sitting down here rusting away and not being used for anything. Let's put in on a barge and send it up the intercoastal, through the river system and put it over the "burg for year round racing as referenced earlier in the thread. That way Texan fans can get some room in in the parking lot for home games and the Astrodome will finally find some use.

jump in a sprinter and see if ya like the new track , its way to fast for the weekend warrior's . You hit that wall at top speed in a sprinter your going to get hurt , would be a lot safer back to the small track:8:

I use to make the 3 hr drive over a few times a year, but not anymore. Great facility and Dave does a fine job promoting, but it just isnt a sprint car track in my opinion. Racing just wasnt worth the drive over. I can see where drivers and car owners arent beating the doors down to race there. Unless you've been there, trying to keep a motor together for a summer or trying to come up with the huge amount of money when she goes, you will probably defend the new track layout. Truth is, it's gonna stretch a motor! If it were smaller, you would see twice the cars and the racing would be twice as good. Probably take the huge banking out of the corners would be a start.
