Anyone going to updates tonite?
Posted using Mobile Device |
Why are they doing heat races and qualifying races instead of the normal USAC setup?

Re: Updates from iowa
Can someone give a quick explanation of this system. Are they giving passing points or taking the top transfer spots or what? Thanks in advance

Re: Updates from iowa
Bear with me everyone - cell service is next to impossible so it is slow going getting and receiving updates......but i have multiple friends helping...
Also, the format is almost identical to MSCS this year, except they run a set of heat races set up by pill draw number (staggered) and passing and finishing points are awarded - then a set of qualifying races are ran which are set up by the previous heat races points total. After those the combined points are tabulated with the top 16 in points going to the Feature and 17th on back going to a b-mail, top 6 from b-main will transfer to feature....I believe they also redraw for their top 8 - but don't hold me to it...... is the 81 and 14 going to kick some butt tonight

Re: Updates from iowa
Report from the track: Dusty and Dangerous. Delayed Heats due to drivers not being able to see. Watering Track now. Coleman's group had to nearly stop in 3 since they could not see. Crowd was booing already in Hot Laps. I wonder why no problems with the Wing Cars last night?

Re: Updates from iowa
Does'nt USAC ever look at the track on race day? Dust bowl after dust bowl sheesh!
|
Re: Updates from iowa
Big shout out to Davey Jones and Keith Bloom Jr.'s team for their help with the 14 Team CGR car under caution. First Class effort guys and we thank you....

Re: Updates from iowa
I think the way this usually works, the qualifying races invert the top 6. So the top 4 in points should start on the outside of the third row. Clauson should be in good shape here, along with Ballou and Gulick. Larson and Bacon should be somewhere up there, too.

Re: Updates from iowa
Spoke to Robert briefly - he says track is dusty, dry and incredibly hard to see.....he is changing helmets in the hopes he can see better.....these conditions could make for an interesting feature.....hoping all drivers stay safe!
|
Re: Updates from iowa
Hopefully they can water the track down some more and provide a good racing surface. I dont understand why they couldnt have it ready

WOW that 1st Qualifier is TOUGH.....
I am taking Larson in the foot race. Youth is always faster |
Re: Updates from iowa
I've never checked into it to see exactly how many points you get for each position or pass in this system, but my guess is Larson and Ballou (or vise versa) are your top two points getters.

Re: Updates from iowa
I must comment on wtvwrocks race update posting format. Updating the original post so that all the information is in one place is freakin' brilliant. I don't know that wtvwrocks originated it. If so, kudos. If not, kudos anyway.

---------- Post added at 10:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:38 PM ---------- You've got to love Robert Ballou... He was being interviewed by the Track announcer and said, "Whoever does the track prep should be fired"... That's the "MadMan" we know... Go Robert. I still say if this was a Wing Race, it would have been different. Need to find another track next year for the "Ultimate Challenge" so its not the Ultimate Tire Eater"... |

Clauson takes the 5 grand challenge and will start from the rear of the feature. Plus he got 100 bucks a car he passes.

I'm updating facebook, twitter, and hoseheads in addition to you all at the same time.....but I like you guys best so you're getting the first updates (unless I get a picture from iowa because it's easier to post pics on fb) LOL! Even if you aren't a true "fan" of Robert's please like the FB page - we do all updates there....and it helps to get sponsors....we have over 110,000 page views this month...which sounds like a lot - but isn't all that many...and sponsors are looking at those sorts of things now a days. |
