Opinion: 1000 and 600 cc upright's Indoors?

I have been considering inviting the 1000 cc Mini sprints to compete both days indoors at Fort Wayne. I am looking again to see how much interest their is from teams and fans. I brought the idea up last year around Sept 12, and many expressed interest. We know that situations change over a years time. How many would be interested this year? We almost had enough interest last year to make this happen.

We want a minimum of 25 cars to officially enter with at least one day ($60) entry fee by October 15 to officially add the division to the event both days. The second day entry fee ($60) will be due by Nov. 15

You can e-mail me at tbracefest@aol.com for an entry or if you have any private questions or comments

The 14th annual Rumble in Fort Wayne

Early load in - Thursday- December 29- Load in starts at 2:00 PM. Optional practice 5 PM to 10:30 PM

Event days- Friday, Dec. 30 and Saturday, December 31. We will be working to have the event complete by 9:30 PM Dec. 31.

We will go by MMSA rules and tech. Bill May would be involved. Membership or TP NOT required.

They would be mandated to run on dirt tires to save $$

We will qualify the cars, not draw.

A pan or diaper will be mandated on each car to prevent oil dropping to the track. Thin sheet metal welded underneath is ideal.

The 1000 cc would run non winged.

600 cc upright mini sprints will be welcome to enter, and would be competitive indoors.

I would have them compete for a regular purse on Dec. 31, and then pay $ 750 and $150 to start each day. We will start 16 cars. $50 tow money each day for non transfers.

Entry fees are $60 a day, and pit passes are $55. The entry fee is needed because of the high rent and cost to produce an indoor event.

We will have an early optional load in and practice on Thursday Dec 30 starting at 2:00 pm with load in.

If we could have a minimum of 25 cars enter, we may possibly add them to our event. How many are interested?

Thanks,
Tony Barhorst

Everybody who races should put the Rumble at Ft wayne on their bucket list....it's one of those deals everybody should try at least once...Doesn't take that much work or expense to make your dirt car handle there...drop it on the ground and put heavy springs on and take some caster out of the front end and yer good to go...

1 question Tony.....are you going to mandate dirt tires or allow the class to put on slicks?

Unfortunately it conflicts with Tulsa....which is where we will be.

Re: Opinion: 1000 and 600 cc upright's Indoor

Tulsa is running the 1000 cc with the 1200 cc cars for those that are not familiar. I feel that there are possibly enough cars that do not want to travel that far. I reviewed the situation from last year and am optimistic that the conflict won't be a problem for either event.

Our events used to be on different weekends until about 8 years ago or so, they moved to our dates.

I am not going to Tulsa and would definitely be interested. Myself and possibly one other car.

Same here, tulsa is way too far but I would be interested in running somewhere here in the mid west.

I copied your message on the PA microsprint message board (www.microracing.com). Also, you might check with the Sidewinder Sprints (1000cc organization in south central PA) - www.sidewindersprints.com.

I think it could work, after the way Tulsa went last year we would probably do this over Tulsa. Closer to home plus 2 full nights of racing instead of being on the track 4 times in 3 days. I like the qualifying deal also, not letting a pill draw determine your whole week.

They run mix upright 1000cc's and micro 1000cc's. We ran at Trailway and Lincoln last year and it was about 60/40 in favor of the micros.

If I don't have to work I'd consider it..

Here we go again, "competition", it's great. We went to Tulsa last year had a great time. Now what to do . Guess just see how things develop and save our money. Maybe we could get air freight deal so we wouldn't have such a long haul.

DAD
PS. Bill May give me a call my cell phone has been messed up.

Tulsa did have its issues last year.....hopefully they will change some things and get better this year.

It's further to go, but temps in the 50s in Tulsa sounds better than temps in the 30s in Ft Wayne. ;)

Ah gotcha. Didn't see the link on my phone. That's a definite possibility. Probably won't due fort Wayne or Tulsa.

I just spoke with Bill May who will be the race director for the 1000 cc events. He has been getting a lot of calls, and he tells me there is a good chance of more money being added to the purse by sponsorship.

Larry Boos (the overall event race director) and I will have a basic entry ready today. Look for it to be posted here.

Just for my quick reference, what rulebook are the 1000/1200 florida nonwing races using ? That could be doable for us.
