Just curious here, but why are they not racing the entire month of August? Has it always been that way? I absolutely love that track!

No, I believe this is the first year they have done this. The reasoniong behind it, is the attendance really drops off after the schools start up in August. Track owner actually saves money instead of losing it!

Attendance and car count dropped off after school started last year. That doesnt account for the 1st 2 weeks of August but it does for the last 2 weeks. I heard a few of them were going on vacation after this weeks raceso we dont get back 2 of those rainouts :13:

I think most of them start around the 9th. For some strange reason my old high school is starting the 2nd, which is just crazy imo.

Wow that's awful early isn't it? Here our kids don't start until after labor day and they are done during the second week of June.

That's the way it was in upstate NY (week afer labor day to June 20 something), where I grew up. August-May is just weird.

When I was in high school we got out in late may and didn't start again till AFTER labor day.... no matter how many snow days we had. But, now that the kids are going an extra 5-10 days a year.... they are sooooo much smarter than we are!!!!!!!!:5:

Why would anyone who owns a race track schedule a vaca in one of the months when your track would be open AND profitable? Not using the off nights to make up rain outs.......:10: How about talking to some businesses and having a different "so&so hardware" night at the races? The extra income would offset the loss of the families with lil kids who don't come out...

ok Johnny....start bashing...

Re: Kokomo bob darland memorial

Well, I can either go to the final two Illinois Sprint Week winged 410 shows, both of which are 30 or fewer miles from my home, or drive 240 miles one way to Kokomo for one night.

See you all at Kokomo.

No bashing from me, I wish they would add a few back as much as anyone but its not my track to run.

1. Because they can. 2. When do they get a break to spend time with there family?? 3. Does it always have to be about what you want? :)

I thank Kokomo and Gas City for the time they do give us, I use these two as they are our home tracks.

in the indpls. area ips and alot of the township schools are now starting a some what year round schedule. i drive for ips and sched. for this year is 9 wks. on and 3 wks. off with 2 mos. off for the summer. their reasoning behind this is that the students actually lose alot of what they have learned with to much time off during the summer. they are still doing the same amount of school days, 180 i believe.

The people that want the changes are the same people that allowed our country to get were we are, they can not do anything right and now they want to attack the school systems. What a joke.
