LIVE @ the Track Winchester 4-27-08
Good morning ladies and gentlemen! We are enroute to Winchester as we speak! Current temperature 43 degrees.... wind calm.... relative humidity 76%..... ok enough of the weather geek crap!
What a beautiful start to the morning today! We will be going LIVE right around hot laps time which is supposed to be roughly 10am I do believe! On a website note: with the new format to the site when you refresh the page the whole thing refreshes. To avoid this.... use this link so the full Live page loads instead of the whole site: http://www.talk2drivers.com/live.html This SHOULD allow you to refresh periodically and not have to worry about getting kicked back to the opening page of the site. Until I figure out an auto-refresh command this will have to be the norm. The Race notes section will have the notes from quals, heats, consi's and the feature. As long as I have a good charge on the laptop I can keep folks updated as the race goes. Lets have a GREAT day of racing!!! |
Re: LIVE @ the Track Winchester 4-27-08
Qualifying is underway. Tracy Hines went 14.1. He's been fastest in hot laps. It's gonna be hard to top that lap!
How is the live page working for everyone? |

Re: LIVE @ the Track Winchester 4-27-08
If possible, can you keep me up to date on Aaron Pierce in the stock cars?
Thanks, Joe. |
Re: LIVE @ the Track Winchester 4-27-08
Bubzilla,
I will try but no promises. I am in a bad spot here for audio. |
Re: LIVE @ the Track Winchester 4-27-08
Well we saw a GREAT race at Winchester! The race for the lead was great between Hagen and Windom.... with Windom on the low side and they got together with Windom getting the worse end of it. After that no one really had anything for Hagen. Hagen got a great restart and it was done then.
We would like to point out that the top 4 drivers today are T2D interviewees! Congrats to these drivers and congrats to Hagen on the win! Bubzilla, we were in a very bad spot to get results for Pierce. Could not hear the PA and did not see the scoreboard so we were of no use for that today. Sorry. How did we do today???? I am pleased with the Live updates today! |
Re: LIVE @ the Track Winchester 4-27-08
Thanks so much for the updates! This was the first USAC race Brady ran that we couldnt be there so the updates were great. Thanks again for taking your time out to do them. :applaud:

Just a few quick impressions taken from a great day of racing at Winchester:
Love these Sunday afternoon affairs. Wish USAC could schedule a few more of them. Maybe promoters fear that many potential ticket buyers will stay home and watch NASCAR on TV like Dwight did. :wink Most impressive (to me) of a bunch of impressive youngsters was Jacob Wilson #07. Passed a gaggle of cars, good cars, to finish 6th. Restarts were a bit of a problem. May have been car related rather than driver. Want to see a lot more of him. Tracy Hines also had a bad restart after the final yellow. I was thinking Tracy might have something for Hagen, but behold Dave Darland in the Pace #44 who blew by the #21 for 2nd. Brian Gerster is a much underrated driver IMO. He still stands on the button, especially on the high banks. Declined the once a year offer of a beer from Rich Hollmeyer. May take him up on it in '09. Sorta, kinda wish they had a special spot marked off in the parking lot for motorhomes. As it is they each seem to take up 3 spots or more along the entrance road. Not a big deal as we get there early, unlike Danny Burton who shows up after time trials and wonders why there are no seats on the top row. Got another lesson in Mainespeak from Andrew Quinn who says I sound like a Massachussettiatan when I try to imitate him. Hey, I thought all those NE folks, ate lobster, sailed boats, cheated in football and sounded just alike. I'm learning Andrew. :thumb to Dakoda Armstrong for his 5th quick qually lap; to Kenny Biros for running a nice steady line all day long; and to Chris Windom who looked smooth as Dave Steele......well, almost.I missed Marc Jessup.* He should be racing and would be competing for wins IMO. Like me, John Hoover didn't miss many meals this winter. I mistook him for a fireplug (never wear yellow John..dogs, ya know) at the "meet and greet" where only Ben Andres showed up.That snuff!!! |

Re: LIVE @ the Track Winchester 4-27-08
I was as impressed by Jacob Wilson as Marv was. Looked like he'd been racing on the high banks for years. Tracy Hines demonstrated, much like he did at Anderson, just how much last year's pavement racing suffered, due to his absence. But, apparently unimpressed by all of that was DD, who snatched the runner-up position away from him, with one lap to go. And how about Chris Windom? Not only did he have a chance of winning this thing, he turned in two of the smoothest fast laps I've ever seen there. You had to have been listening very closely to hear him lift, at all, on either one of those laps. All in all, a great day's racing. Even though I am a dirt fan by far, my year wouldn't be complete without at least one trip (in this case, two) to this historic facility.
Now, I'm ready for a drive, 3 miles southwest, to see the rebirth of another Indiana racing icon! Jerry |

Very impressed by most of the the young guns today. Jacob Wilson stood especially out for me. How about Darland snookering Hines on that last restart?
Great weather, my favorite racing series, my favorite track, and safe racing. Who could ask for more? I had tons of fun. |
